  1. That would require that I buy a level 6 which aint gonna happen. Im ready to have this done so I can enjoy it for awhile.
  2. na na ,, you da man bro, your the one building all this None of this would be possible without some badass subs!!! If you can let me know when the 4 18s ship that would be great. I just need to make sure I am home when fedex shows up with them to sign for em. Im gonna tell you guys that there is no better customer service out there than Rusty and DC Audio! I will be givin you a call tomorrow about getting some artwork for my box.
  3. I forsee some very large numbers and alot of broken stuff in your explorer! Just got my XLs running and they are real beasts!
  4. Whoops yes I did. Hmm Ill see what I can come up with.
  5. Got the vinyl from ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Carbon-Fiber-Vinyl-Auto-Marine-Fabric-BOAT-CAR-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c4fd290f6QQitemZ190317760758QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear
  6. I cant give you a dead honest opinion because I never got the 5s to full power. I did like the overall sound of the SMDs better though. The level 5 is just more of an SPL sub and is built towards that. I have heard the XLs and they are a much more musical sub. Its not really a fair comparison either because they are such different subs.I will post more on this topic if you remind me.I just got wifi hooked up in my shop and am posting as I work. Here's your reminder =] Ok here is my opinion on the 2 subs. 1) It is not a fair to compare a 3" and 4" coil sub. The SMD will take way more power than I could give it all day long. I would be comfortable giving the SMD 8-10k daily in the right box. The level 5 I wouldnt feel comfortable going over 5k daily. Now burps that would be a whole different story that im not going into. 2) Musically I liked the SMD better. I felt like it played every note I threw at it and sounded good doing it. I felt like the Level 5 was geared more towards the SPL side of car audio where the SMD is a combination of both SPL and SQ. In the DC line the XL, I think sounds as good or better than the SMD.
  7. I just got my 4 XL 15s playing yesterday. I have them in 3 cubes each tuned to 35hz and it drops LOW. I think you will be happy tuning the 15s higher. With 9 subs I dont think you will have much issue with 2.5 cubes per sub, if you have enough power. Lets just say in a perfect world you get a true 15k out of the 3 DC 5000s. You will still only be giving the XLs 1667 watts each. The XLs take 1500w and laugh at it. You could easily put a 5k per pair and do 8 XL 15s. Realistically you will probably see 3500-4000w out of the 5k after box rise and voltage drop. Trust me 1500w on an XL is no where near enough, they barely move, but they still get loud!
  8. Here are some better pics of the box and some XS power love.

  10. This is the CF vinyl I am using as well. The black is on the front of the box, the charcoal is on the sides and top, and the racy blue is what I have ordered for accent pieces.
  11. I think I know what you have in mind but please share. I can get some 1/8" aluminum angle at home depot and build an insert the help keep the fabric down. you nailed it. polish it up predrill it with the drill press and you can probably have it powder coated or even use that metalcast paint to accent it off. can even get some black head fasteners to further accent it if you wanted to. I think instead of powder coating it, I have some blue CF vinyl ordered that should match the DC logo on the front, I may try wrapping it in that. I am going to get with Rusty on Monday to see about getting some artwork to use on the blank spots on the box also. I was thinking about putting a D in the top left corner, a C in the to right corner, and AUDIO on the bottom middle of the box. I am planning on using real CF to cover the artwork. Here is a link to what I am thinking about using. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Blue-Carbon-Fiber-Hybrid-Cloth-2x2-Twill-50-W-27-yd-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aa367f882QQitemZ320569079938QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f100

  13. Hell no mine is done getting changed! The 18s are for a dodge caravan I built this box for awhile back.
  14. I will get some better pictures and maybe try and get a short video today. I have to get a new 4 channel ordered to run my tweeters and then I will be able to finish all of the trim pieces and wrap everything. Hopefully I get done it time to enter SOTM. Oh yeah yall keep a look out for a 4 XL 18 build I have coming up in the next few weeks. And I must say on that subject, Rusty you are the fucking man!
  15. X2 x3!! RIGHT NOW OR I WILL CALL STEVE AND TELL HIM TO BAN YOU!!! Been there and dont need to go back. I will get videos once I get all of the trim panels built and installed and everything is tuned just like I want it. I know that you cant hear the imperfections in the sound through a camera mic, but I can hear them on my end and im not going to show it off until I am completely satisfied. Hopefully I can get in to the SOTM voting before it closes. Thanks! It is set at 5k right now and I already like it better than anything i have had to this point. f150s will get loud! I can honestly say that I dont care what numbers come out of this, but it wouldnt be surprised if it plays music 151+ Good job with the build that system is going to pound. Great looking build everything looks clean and you really know how to make great truck. Let me know if you are going threw Atl again i would really love to hear your system. Now all you have to do is go collect your trophies. Only trophies this is going to collect are verbal trophies. This is a daily groundpounder with an occasional demo whenever someone want one. I dont have time to enter any shows or compete with it. But im down to show it off in any random parking lot that I can make noise without getting the cops called.
  16. I will get a video when I have daylight. I will say that they just did a hairtrick on half power.
  17. GOT IT RUNNING!!!!!!! I have owned some of the best subs going and I can say with confidence that the XLs are by far my favorite so far. I will get some better pics of the subs in the truck in the daylight tomorrow and maybe a video.
  18. Its wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl. Black on the front and charcoal on the sides and top.
  19. Also got word today that 4 XL 18s have been paid for and should be here in 7-10 days for the dodge mini van.
  20. Getting closer. Box will go in the truck tomorrow when I get some help. Gotta be extra careful now that it is wrapped.
  21. Box is in the truck now waiting for subs, but since UPS dropped off the carbon fiber vinyl a week before I was expecting it to show up, I am going to finish everything up and then do the final install and be done with it. The box still needs some sanding and it will be ready to cover. I still have to rebuild the front inset faceplate and cover it, then i have to make some trim panels for the sides. Oh yeah I have to make a top for the amp rack and build a rack for a XS680 I just put under the false floor. Once all of that is done I will wire the subs up and get it playing......Then it comes time for the next project. The bed of the truck is going to get rebuilt to give me more room to be able to use the bed of the truck. Then I will start work on a new center console. I have alot of work to do.
  22. Im almost there. Got the wiring under the hood cleaned up and now have the 4 channels up and running. I was starting to put the subs in when UPS came and dropped of my Cf fabric to cover the box, so I had to put that on hold. I am planning on wrapping the box tomorrow and hopefully have it up and running by the weekend.
