  1. Well, the damage won't be covered by the warranty. So, I'm open to suggestions on what to do now. What's the going rate on a DC Level 4?
  2. Well... That was fun while it lasted. I blew the sub today. 35 days after getting it in, it gave up today only 7 minutes into a spirited run through my BASSIX playlist. I can't say I'm all that surprised. I had it at full tilt for about an hour a day six days a week since the day i got it...plus demos. So about 50 hours of play is my guess. Anyway, now I've got to get something louder. Cheers!
  3. If I had a car that was just sitting around and not my daily...there would be a wall in that thing. Wall it!
  4. Cool, Thanks for all the responses guys. You pretty much confirmed what I figured, that the box could be improved. If I can in fact hit 130dB with this sub and amp, I'll be ecstatic! That would be real nice. bassl0va, I'm not sure what you meant when you quoted bobmcbob. My amp is running 1200w rms. Just to clarify.
  5. Yeah it is a start. I just wish it was louder. So do you guys think it is reasonably loud for what it is? Does it have hidden potential, maybe it needs a better box? I wish I had a Term Lab, or knew someone near me with one. I figure the mic meter I'm using is a little hit or miss. Seats fold down, but it's a smallish opening. And it's only one 12. If it's actually capable of 130s, I'd definitely rebuild a new box for it. Thanks guys!
  6. I would be...I don't even know man, but there's no way it would even be able to come close to a hair trick yet. 115dB isn't moving a lot of air.
  7. Haha, yeah I know we're all pic whores. It's a very small box, and isn't very impressive to look at. But I'll get some pics up, maybe a couple hairtrick vids too.
  8. I just googled port calculator. I used this link: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31
  9. Wow, thanks for the quick replies guys. n8ball2013, You're exactly right. This setup was only enough for about the first week. I'm trying to figure out how I can make it louder without buying two of everything. Thanks EclipseChris, and feel free to send any of that 1/0 my way. SMD seems like a very nice community. I'm glad to be here.
  10. Hey guys and gals, I just started into building bass in my ride. So I haven't spent much time or money on it yet but this is what I have so far: 1 Pioneer (don't flame too bad) TSW3002D4, 12 inch sub in a 1.2 cube ported box, tuned at about 37hz. Powered by a Hifonics BRUTUS 1700.1d. The sub is dual 4Ω wired to 2Ω so the amp is feeding 1200wrms. The sub is in the trunk firing back, port up. I have a cheap mic based dB meter that metered the setup at about 115 on music. That was with the trunk all sealed up and voltage drop I'm guessing into the 12.7 range. So I'm wondering do you guys think that is decent for a first try cheap trunk setup. Remember it's my first try and I'm not trying to compete at the drags or anything. I'm just trying to figure out if I should be getting more out of my current setup. Any and all input is welcome and appreciated. -TheBetterMethod
  11. I'm keeping an eye on this for when my mom gives up her van. I want it.
  12. Nice! This should be a cool box when it's done. Maybe you should also buy a tripod? haha
  13. If you have a razor blade or x-acto knife you can cut the insulation off. I use that a lot if I'm messin' wit the small stuff.
