I don't have lots of mids and highs, but I do have a need for high power at 4 ohms via my IB subs.

hell yeah im very interested in the rebuild mang. that comparison is crazy too. def a upgrade id say. the AAs look tiny lol makes me wonder what my XL 15" would look like next to a XL18. are ya gonna start a totally new log or add onto the one ya got up now...so i know where to look hahaa
Thanks. It's been a while since I've owned 18". They are just silly big. I'll probably start a new build so I can give it a catchy title. I'll update my sig with links. I'll probably get started this weekend.
BTW congrats on SOTM March 2010. Tearing up the vol knob with that amp I hope.

So I ordered some woofers from this outfit. In big red blinking letters they announce "Build Time 5-7 Days." That's cool. Tack on another 4 for shipping, so we're looking at two weeks. No biggie. I put my order in, a Friday night no less. It's not till Monday that my payment is accepted, so two weeks from Monday. From what I here I'm suppose to get an e-mail from from these guys when my stuff ready to go. I'm a patient guy. It's been a week, I figure I'll get an e-mail today or tomorrow. Today, I come home from work and bam!

I opted for the Darth Vader edition IB3s with black motors and a dark grey logo. Not really, this is what they sent me, so I'm running with it.

After years of hassle free noise making I got the urge to try something different. No better way to be different than with a JBL GTi.
Here are some side by side pics. Out with the old, in with the new.Here is a pic of the sub in the cabinet.
For a direct swap it sound great. I'm running the amp at 6 ohms now so I'm getting a little less power. It's still just as loud. I updated my receiver as well. It's a Sony STR DN-1010. It's pretty sweet. I got more adjustments for the speakers I've got hooked up. In the near future I'm looking to get another pair of JBL's and run 4 of these 15's off a pair of Behringer EP2500. I've already got the second amp, just need the speakers now.

Speaking of, how did that turn out? I was going to go but had to put my car in the shop.
The turn out was good. We got shut down a little early by the fuzz. I post some pics later tonight.
O ok well ill def keep my eyes peeled for the next. Kinda be nice to know what i hit with my lil system. An is there any local small meets or hangouts?? I need to get out an mingle.
HotRods and what not get together Friday nights at the corner of Toepperwein road and I-35N, behind the Carl's Jr. You'll probably catch one or two with systems there. I know more get together Saturday nights by the Fudruckers next to Ingram Mall but that's on the other side of town.

Your not having any phasing / cancellation issues with those drivers? When I saw open baffle goodness i was expecting maybe a dipole or something similar. Anyways check out this program called edge, i think you might find it interesting.
I can't tell. I do know it gets plenty loud and sounds good. Thanks for the software link. Looks cool but a little complicated for a simpleton such as myself.

Behringer Europower EP2500. It's rated at 1200 watts X 2 @ 4 ohms. In reality it's more like 1000 watts X 2 @ 4 ohms.

Here is a link to a thread I started inquiring about the Russian meter, SPL-Labs.
The Russian meter will never replace the termlab. I see the Russian meter as an inexpensive tuning tool that's as accurate at the termlab.
I'm off to a slow start, but pretty soon I'll have a SPL-Labs LCD Bass Meter in my hands. I'll post a review for all to see and critique.

I had a few of those as a kid. When they first came out all the little cars and truck had realistic paint jobs and were to scale. Those were my favorites. Later version had quirky paint jobs and looked all futuristic. Not my style. Good stuff.

It's cool to see you make good on a bad situation. I was not so fortunate. My 86 Mustang Gt was considered totaled after a Subaru station wagon tagged me from behind. All I got was $800 and a, "you keep the car it's your problem," letter.

I dont understand how it turns an itouch into a cell phone? Do I touches have mics on them?
You also have to be in a wifi hot spot to use the ipod touch to make calls

I read this. It looks promising. It's an app for iPhone to make calls over wifi without using your At&t minutes. Get this you can use it on your iPod touch. The first month is free. After that it's $15.99. The app is called Line2.
