  1. I'm back at McD's for now while in school due to scheduling. I hate it cuz I worked a real job in a call center making bank for years but anything is better than brokeville right? Landscaping would be ubber nice. Well maybe hardscaping would be cooler. But if I could work day hours and could get a job Landscaping.... count me in and give me a shovel... minus the hurt back thing... I feel you on that. Look up call centers in your area easy work. good pay. and all the air conditioning you want.
  2. Opinions are like ass holes every one has them. I'm tough and can take it. let me have something... What about the horns. What are ppl opinions on hlcd's?
  3. I can feel one beer, two I get silly, three I stagger a bit, four I quit cuz it took me til 3am to get that far. I'm not a drinker. I got shit faced on my birthday one year off like 4shots of liquor and a beer. It's hard for me to get drunk though cuz I get hot and sweaty and quit drinking. If i'm getting messed up I like trees better.
  4. Damn... I think it bumped just a little. Give us more of a walk around when it's cleaned up. Lovin it.
  5. Damn, I need to start talking more and quit just reading everyone's posts.
  6. I finally got my 360.2 back and redid some x-overs and messed with it some. I've been working on piecing together my system for several years now. Started with me not knowing the diff between coax and components. active or passive. AB or D class. And blowing several sets of RF coax 6x9's and 2sets of RF Power components and the RF coax that are still hooked up. Now hopefully the end is in sight and I'll have a decent sound system in a single cab Ranger. I currently have: JVC AVX-44 and 360.2 Subs: 2 RF T1 12s 1ohm mono off a RF T1000.1 70hz\/ in a 2.3cube 45hz slot port Midbass: 4 RF P1 8s 2ohm mono off a RF T600.2 70hz-500hz in a tiny sealed box Mids: 2 ID XS 6x9s and 2 RF power 6x8 2ohm off a Boss 300.2 500-3khz in doors Highs: 2 ID CD.1 MH HLCD 8ohm off a RF 400.4 3khz/\ under dash mounted plumb and square #1. I need to replace the blown 6x8's with a set of ID ctx 6.5's in lower doors and ditch the Boss amp for a RF T600.2. #2. I'm debating on whether or not to get another T1000.1 for the subs and run 2ohm or get a SunDown 2000 and stay 1ohm. There pretty mean as is but ya'll know enough is never enough. #3. And I'm also debating on whether or not to put the horns on a 600.2 also or leave them on the old style 400.4. Money is the key factor but i know i'm going to do #1 period. I was thinking of ditching the 8's and running 4sets of ID drivers 70-3k and go 3 way active but IDK now I've figured out what was wrong with the 8's to begin with. (one RCA was on pass through same side as other RCA) I never even thought of that being an issue but only one channel was outputting and now they sound better so i may keep them. My truck is dirty 99% of the time but all i'm lokking for is constructive criticism on the system and any suggestions or feed back as far as SQ. I'm thinking of SQ here cuz I listen to country, rock, and rap just to beat down the neighborhood. I'll probably end up redoing all of it with fiberglass including the bed once i have a final word on the equipment. It sounds good as is minus the blowed 6x8 in door and it needs an o-scoping bad and needing sound deadening all around the cab and doors. I'm proud to say I've afro engineered all of it by myself cuz when I started this truck in 06 I was 18 and never customized anything and money is always tight.
  7. In hind sight I shoulda told him to roll the window down ..... that was the most painful part. The front bumper was uncomfortable too but I was surprised that it wasn't that bad as a whole. One setting and 3 smoke breaks. I watched my GF's brother get a little heart with wings for his mom that died that day on his and he bout cried and did a lot of wiggling. So I naturally expected it to be horrible cuz he has lots of ink any way and I was nervous, but I did gauge my upper cartilage on both sides to a 2ga. My libre is a 0ga. and Lobes 5/8. and P.A. was a 4ga til my girl told me it hurt....opps.. So pain is second nature to me. That's only my 2nd tat though.
  8. I've been wanting this tat since I bagged my Ranger. Now i have it. Everyone told me I was either retarded for getting it on my ribs or for getting my truck on me. But those same ppl are now saying it looks super good and that they are surprised. What do ya'll think.... it's fresh so it's still pink and the shading isn't faded any so keep that in mind.
  9. I understand the reasons why they cost so much more. and i don't doubt that XS would out preform my one marine deep cycle in any way other than maybe as an anchor. I'm just a cheap ass red neck that has used both and can't tell the diff in my little 2000 watt 4amp system other than the big bulky wet cells are heavy as shit. If i had more money i'd go with XS or Stinger but as far as money goes i'll stick with my Autocraft and replace it after 2 years for free and then in two or three more years worry about buying another one for 8 0 bucks. the stinger does what it says it just can't hold up for as long as i listen to music loud but i shoulda bought the biggest one. I'm a loud kinda guy. My next investment as far as batts are concerned will be for under the hood and will prob be an Optima just cuz they sell them round here and i wouldn't have to deal with a shop or online. oh and there cheaper (told you going to get banned lol please don't)
  10. as far as little systems that the batt's are not in the passenger compartment are concerned using wet cell deep cycle batts are fine. but it's not recommended to put them in a passenger compartment since they can leak gases that can harm you. Mine are in the bed of my truck. I'd say trunk would be fine as long as you kept it separated from you and didn't cut anything out. Oh and I'm not trying to act like I know it all but i'm a cheap ass and sprung for the $289 SP1200 Stinger red top that was rated to hold a 2600watt system and added one deep cycle to it cuz the voltage wouldn't stay up. i was pissed. The deep cycles have higher reserve capacities at lower cost that's my deal. I'll prob add another one back too. IDK about anything else as far as resistance and long term reliability. I replaced my orig 4 after 2years for free warranty and they were still kicking fine. I'll tell you in two more years if this one is still good. And i'm def going to replace the stinger before it's warranty runs out too.
  11. use that employee discount. you'll be glad you did in the long run rather than ordering them from an online dealer. F2F transaction's are still the best way to go as far as dependability and customer service is concerned I was raised oldskool. Plus I worked for Bank of America in non-fraud claims so long I know how hard it is to get your money back if something goes wrong with a mail order transaction. F*** the banks.
  12. if the bed is deep enough to stand them straight up and have a cover over the bed then do 15's my ranger is only deep enough for 12's. That maybe why they said that. Sonoma's are little trucks.
  13. honestly for the price you could go with a Marine deep cycle from your local AutoZone or Advance Auto and get a 175-195 min reserve for 75-85 bucks and have two for what you would pay for one small DC or Kinetic or Stinger(i have a SP1200 $289 and one deepcycle off 2000 watts and only a 130amp alt and keep it at 14.1 volts normally 13.8-13.7volts during hard hits and jumps right back up to 14.4 when i cut my radio off.) Just make sure your using good connectors and big enough wire. Plus it would be from a local nationwide dealer with 2year waranty. Can you say free replacement at 23months. I do it all the time. just keep your reciepts. I wish i would have never bought my Stinger Red top. I would have been better off buying 2-3 more deepcycles with the money and kept it at 4 deepcycles like I had it(more reserve cap). They can last much more than two years if you don't drain them empty a lot, and giving your car a Big 3 will help that a little too but free replacement means FREE so why not have brand new ones. PPL worry about the ohms or resistance or what ever to much. Unless your running a Meade style install normal batts work just fine if you have big enough wire ran from them. honestly the best batts to get are cell phone tower batts. they have incredible reserve times and are the same size as medium deep cycles but are hard to come by unless you know someone. $1600ish brand new or $40-100 used (they get changed regularly regardless of condition so they are generally 98% brandnew) Did that give you an answer you were looking for? I'll probably get banned for saying that about $$$pit batts but I have one of the best that out preformed Kinetic's same size models in tests and still think normal deep cycles are the way to go for the money.
  14. that should be the golden rule for all kids. Props on that My mamaw took care of me and my mom through a lot of stuff. That's why when my mamaw was going to be left alone in TN when my retarded ass great aunt decided she wanted to just leave her alone and go back to VT I jumped on the responsibility even though it ment dropping out of school to do it. Never let family suffer if they don't deserve it. Glad to hear there's really good hearted bass heads out there.
  15. I graduated when i was 17. started UNCCharlotte for Mech Eng but dropped out my second semester to take care of my mamaw in TN unil she passed in Nov 07. I spent some time growing up and learning what life was really about after she passed cuz she was my life. I can't remember a time when I didn't have her. It was really hard. She left me with a trailer and house on land fully paid for. But I took it for granted and let myself stay depressed and let my 07 Ranger go back and my credit cards. TN just seemed to dead ended. To many ppl that needed to grow up but never did. To many pill heads, pot heads, meth heads, you name it you can find it near Bristol TN. But i stayed out of it and kept to myself to the point where i hated everyone. So I got out and came home to Shelby like I should have done the week after her funeral. But it took 2 more years to realize I needed to act before I was stuck. It's hard to leave the only home you've ever known. It was put in my name before papaw died in 95. but i knew nothing would ever come of me in TN. So the answer to Meade's original question is 22. Home with Mom. Going to school.(mech drafting). getting a real job.(F*** call centers. wasted almost 3 years of my life saying "Thank you for calling billing inqueers." for BoA credit cards. Then collecting money from ppl that are already broke when they made me switch depts when i came back for the 2-3 time. My truck got me fired one day so i cranked it up and vibrated the phones off the hook. My sup Amy Hooker said they lost 150 calls because of me. lol) And very soon start doing installs and custom fab on the side. I have a little Meade in me that wants out and I think I have the heart and creativity to own my own shop one day. I know that's alot to read but the simple 22 home with mom only means as much as the story behind it. Every one has there own reasons and unless your 18+ out running the streets causing trouble and doing drugs and your not actually doing something with your life it's fine to say Home with parents. If your a dead beat living at home.... get a life. sorry still geting some hate out. Ignorance is a choice we make at a young age. Feeling sorry and trying to help those ppl to a point is useless and we should just let them suffer and tough it out. Just kicked my cousin out of my Mamaw's house because he refuses to go to work more than 3-4 times a week and have the money to pay rent. All he does is pop pills and smoke out. Now I think he's on coke.... See it's enough to make you want to scream. So I got out. Selling and cutting all ties to TN except my one true honest friend. Kr381ve. lol I mean Travis. d/l this link and he's pretty good and makes his own music. http://www.limelinx.com/files/b06c5c939e0dab72c1abe55ab4485547 http://www.myspace.com/kr381ve SOrry for the book again. Just came back from the club in Gastonia full of old ppl with my Mom and Aunt.. I was the DD.. Can you say used.. Good night.. I'm beat.
  16. i was in an extended truck with 4 RF T1 15's sealed on a T2000.1 that would absolutely beat you do death. It hit 148ish. but it felt like more. it could hair trick at certain hz. but only with one window down. point is it's possible with the power and cone area.
  17. i held one. there fucking huge. 20lbs. putting one in a .7 cube box at 30hz with a 500watt amp on it. as soon as the money tree blossoms.
  18. don't blame you. i know what it's like to have the stuff you ordered in the corner and all you can think about is getting it put in. Get it done. then show us a vid of you hitting switches. i'm curious to see the Hoe tuck them 6's.
  19. i re did the math. as it sits it's .82ft3 at 28.64hz. idk why i thought .98ft??? but all i need to do is add .12 ft of wood to the inside(triple the lid(so i can take it back out when she gets a real 8 if i need to) and get it to .7ft at 30hz and i think that 300.2 is all she'll need for now. it's a 6ohm sub(DVC go figure right!!!) but i think she'll end up with 100ish watts on it which is fine for now cuz it's all free and i have invested is a $1 bottle of construction adhesive and 3hours worth of build time. later i'm going to buy her a sundown or something and put atleast a 500-700watt amp on it. then she'll in there like swim wear up a fat chicks crack..... it's a Kia Sportage mini suv so she'll be able to at least think she hears bass... i want one kinda so i can bag it and lay it on the doors. it's really cute for her first ride. I'll post a vid of it once i vynyl it. (not embarrassing myself showing the bare wood on here) it's just plywood not mdf but it was in the barn(my new shop) when i cleaned it out. my next project is a box for a 4" and 3.5" sub from a creative and logitec computer system and tune it to 45hz at .5ft3 to replace the 8" i won't have. (down grade for me) that's what life is a learning experience and i try to learn something new everyday so i don't feel like i'm wasting my life.
  20. it started out at 30hz. idk why that low i guess just because i could and never went below 35 on one i built before. so i should decrease the size of the box huh. i'll chop off some and get it down to about .75ft3 at what hz? is 28 to low? oh for the sub itself duh. i was thinking rap when i built it. not what can the sub handle. oops. got some numbers to crunch. it sounds okay off my home stereo. just gets weird at high volume. i thought it was just the radio though. <50watts. and maybe clipping bad. I was thinking backwards on efficiency. more means less watts needed... sorry.. Thanks for the info. i'll digi it tomorrow. i'm to tired to go find it tonight. i should have checked it while i had it in the shop earlier but i was to focused on screwing in screws to think. lol i just want my girl to have a decent sounding box in her little kia. she don't like my truck it's too loud 145db. at 40hz.
  21. lets say you build a box that's bigger than recommended by the manf., but the port is big enough and tuned really low like 28hz. what happens to the efficiency of the box as in watt handling. does port area need to increase/decrease? can it hurt the sub? Point to this is i built a box for a Philips home 8" today that came out of a all in one home theater kit> surrounds, dvd player, and sub. the dvd player(the brain) died but i still had the sub which was useless with out the brain telling the amp in the box what to do. from what i can tell the old box is 9x9.25x14 .5mdf and tuned to 50ish hz. with 4.9"2 port area at .5ft3 net volume the one i built is 9x13x20 .75mdf and tuned to 28hz with 5.16"2 port area (2.25x2.25x17)port at .98ft3 net. ??? I was thinking i was building it for a future sub to go in and use this one for now. maybe a sundown 8" or something beefy. what do ya'll think it would sound like with just a 300.2 on it? i don't even know the ohms load? Thinking about trading my GF her 600.2 kenwood for the box, sub, and my boss 300.2 chaos craptastic amp. i think it'll sound good at moderate levels just not with lots of power(hense the amp swap)
  22. Congrats dude.... like others have said it's a dream come true and you are the man. and of course i'd come be your shop bitch for free if you let me live in the corner on a cot.....and fed me occasionally... lol. You are a big inspiration to a lot of ppl. I just moved back home to NC from TN to go back to school and start my own shop(AudioLogical)tm but I want to do more than just audio. I have a ratty barn with old office furniture i'm going to use as work benches that i've cleaned up and moved all my tools into, and will hopefully one day have an 1/8th of the rep you have. Your international and still keep it down home. Your builds are companies main pics and advertisements. I see you or your work pop up when I didn't even realize you were associated with that company. Make the best of what you have and do what you love and do it right. You're a perfect example of that. If i'm ever in CA you're my first tourist trap...lol
  23. that's disappointing. i was hoping to see him wire up an amp on his face. I may try to re-engineer his idea into a more fruitful project. I wonder what the littlest chassis DC amp is? and how long 8x D batts would last on it? i'd need a 4ch so i could run a 4" sub off two channels and itty bitty coax's off other two. and an ipod. I have every thing but the amp... Damn it.... anyone want to donate?
  24. fbi but it,s all to hell now. i want the simple body kit from stillen that'll even the sides and back out with the front unless i body drop it... i mean build a flat frame from front clip back so i don't have to cut up the bed or cab and lose my blow through..
