  1. Because the sub you posted is a joke... Look at the magnet, and the cone is made from paper... So is the FI, but the FI is treated... I hate how instead of answering my question people try to change my mind for me...
  2. Cool, but I'm already sold on the 18's. I don't wanna deal with those stupid t-line boxes. I just want a simple ported box that is tuned low (18 hz im thinking right now) that will sound clean. So does anyone know how a Fi Q 18 performs when underpowered?
  3. I am looking at making a Home Theater setup... I am thinking about 2 Fi Q 18's in a ported box. My question is: How good would it sound good on the lows if it's underpowered. I don't want 2kw rms in my living room, for obvious reasons. So, would they hit the lows nice on 300 watts each? How about 500 watts each? I saw and it seems to be very nice at 350 watts rms. So how would two sound with the powers mentioned above? Please remember this is a HOME THEATER system. It is totally different from a car, so I don't need the same amount of wattage.
  4. NO, I'm planning. I plan to have 16 for my speakers.
  5. Because my speaker wire is going to be 16... So I think my sub wire should be bigger...
  6. Should I get 8 and possibly trim it, or just get 10?
  7. Well, I am in the planning stages right now. I want to get 1 or 2 Fi Q 12's. I am looking at wiring right now. Will they take 8 AWG? 10 AWG? Please answer so I can continue my planning.
  8. Well actually, I think it's for sticking in someone's stomach, and pulling up. Rip someone open real deep.
  9. From what I understand, port noise is caused by not enough port area for your box size? And I see where you got that. I made a mistake in listing my specs. I didn't double check the specs. I listed specs for the 10". The real area is 2 cubic ft. So would I still have port noise if I used 24 - 32 sq in of port?
  10. That is a good idea. I could do that, but the port is long. It is somewhere between 2 and 3 feet. So there would be like 3 bends.
  11. I've always wondered that... What would that come out to for the 6.5 components?
  12. Everyone has a slot port. I am using this in my house, so I want it to look good. They are supposed to have 12 - 16 in of port fer sq. ft. The port I listed would add up to almost exactally 13; more specifically 12 4/5.
  13. That is my idea for a box for a Fi Q 12. The triangles are 4 X 4, so they have an area of 8 sq in each, for a total of 16 inches of port. The problem is that when I calculated the port lenth for tuning to 32 hz, it is like a few feet long. This box will be about 1 foot wide and deep, and 1 1/2 feet tall. Is there any way to make this port, or do I have to scrap the idea?
  14. I think your confused... I know that I need 10 cubes for the sub. I don't know how much the port takes. I need to tune that10 cubes to 28hz. Once it is tuned there, it is actually a 15 cub box from the outside. I didn't design a box because I needed to add the size of the port.
  15. In the calculator I get 4.34 for 6 X 24 X 40. That tunes to 27.88, which is close enough. After sub and port wood disxplacement, it's going to be damn close to 15 cubes. I have a very rough box designed (dimensions in paint so I remember the shape).
  16. Oh my God! I just realized that a 10^3ft box with that port and sub displacement is damn near if not over 15 cubes! I can't possibly be right, can I?
  17. I think I've got it... I set the Desired Net Volume to 10^3ft. and the port to 6 X 24. 40in. long gets me 27.88HZ., so I guess that's about right?
  18. I downloaded the calculator... And I want to smash my head in with a mallet. I don't have dimensions... Because I need to add in the size of the port to see just how to fit it in...
  19. I found a nice port length calculator on the internet... I just want to double check to make sure that it calculated right. Box: 10^3ft. (10 cubic feet) Port: 160^2in. (160 square inches) Tuning: 28HZ Port Length: 40in. long (39.59416767123559)
  20. i will pass on adding any yellow to this car but i respect your opinion if black and yellow is YOUR style......hook your car up with it! i wont mind a bit Yeah... Yellow wouldn't look very good on this car IMO. I think that blue would be perfect on this car... But the black looks awsome too. It's your car... I'm just throwing out ideas... And P.S.: You NEED to take this thing to a track! You said you would, but we don't have a video yet!
  21. Well, I guess I can get the T1500-1bdCP and just dial it back... I just fear the "Birth Sheet" and it's power ratings... If I get a 1500 watt amp that can put out 2000 watts, I'll have to dial it back to a little over half... I guess it's always better to have some excess there than to have not enough...
  22. I am looking into 2 12" Fi Q subwoofers. I am wondering what a save daily RMS Wattage is. I am looking into either the T1000-1bdCP or the T1500-1bdCP; one each for both subs. I am wondering if somewhere in the range of 1250 - 1500 Watts RMS would be ok for these subs, or should I stick to 1000 watts?
