I use the native instruments audio kontrol 1. I am happy with it, it works great for running my krk monitors and recording my mpc 1000. It is a little more though got it at guitar center for $250. Presonus is good gear too, i use their faderport transport controller and have had no problems.

I use roxio easy media creator to burn music and movies and if you have it on windows it has a widget for the side bar that will record anything that goes through your sound card.it records in wave format which is good than just convert to mp3.I can record anything from anywhere on the web.
