  1. Take a road trip to Minneapolis and I'll hook you up
  2. I've been following the forum for a little while but I never got around to posting or even throwing up a thread for my own install. A little insight: My name is Mike. I own a computer repair business and I spend most of my summers in Minnesota building boxes and doing installs. I'm putting myself through college right now so I don't really have a budget for buying the equipment that I would like, but I am a freak about clean installs & I love working on my car. Last summer, my nephew challenged (14y/o, spends most of his summer building boxes with me) me to do a plain budget build for my car. He said I couldn't put a decent system in it for under $500. At a grand total (all cost of material included) I'm at $473. Most of the equipment was purchased from craigslist. The current system: 2- Old school Alpine Type R's- (Dual 4, 150rms per coil) Power Acoustik OV2-1600- 740w rms x1 Factory Head Unit w/ 6 disc changer in the trunk Factory 5x7's in the front and rear Power Acoustik OV2-420 powering all of the speakers Boss audio 4" CH4220 in the center console 4 layers of some 4mm roofing material and a sheet of dynamat on the trunk lid. Cheap Scosche L.O.C from Walmart (lol) Big 3 in 1/0 220 amp alt (previous owner) The box is a simple ported enclosure tuned to 44hz or 40 with the screw on flared extension The console is only there because I wanted REAL cup holders.. For those of you that have ever either ridden in a 96-99 taurus, or who have owned one, you would notice the only cup holders are the flip out console things and they... yea they suck! ha ha The illuminated toggles on drives side of the console control the under seat and in dash LED bars and amps for the speakers and the subs since I'm running a factory H/U I decided to just save time of finding an ignition controlled source. I'm saving up for a big build next year, but I'm very proud of the outcome of just a few hundred bucks and a weekend of work on my car. Prob's not SOTM worthy, but it's a masterpiece in my eyes & that's all that really matters to me. Metered on the dash with my friends TL @ 144.2db You will not see 1 wire in this car. It's all buttoned up. Either under the amp rack, or under/in its designated panel Questions/comments/concerns?
