  1. Was hoping I could use the stock frame and I was able to do so! Just had to adapt it a bit... one of our spider bolt down rings worked perfectly for the job. This woofer has 3 Hard Nightshade spiders, a Z v.2 prototype D2 coil (tight gap so NS coil would not fit), and a light weight cone similar to the Z v.1 but with a wide roll surround. Once the dust cap glue dries I'll measure specs on it to see what we got * Steel spider ring glued into place (glue under, around, and below the ring) * Overview of the ring -- also changed original basket screws to a higher grade metal with allen heads. * Gluing bottom triple joint * Lining it up and getting ready to solder the leads -- 6 sheets of paper on the inside gap * Finished product ! I've played it on the test bench a bit with no dust cap... but that is it so far.
  2. Yes sir We aren't too far away from you! Glad you like what you see so far !
  3. Waiting on a final cone sample... then I will probably start this soon after.
  4. Just for a short burp 2 batteries will do it -- good ones.

  6. They have been for sale... pre-sale anyway... for a while.
  7. 27mm one-way linear by 70% BL method in FEA modeling.
  8. After numerous 10,000 watt burps : RE: 1.98 ohms (D1 series) Fs: 31.78 Hz Qes: 0.448 Qms: 12.20 Qts: 0.432 Le: 2.80 mH Vas: 50.64 L BL: 19.59 NA Cms: 57.52 uM/N Mms: 435 g Spider seems quite stable in compliance after a tremendous beating -- of course we knew that from the v.1 Nightshade
  9. How much pre-out voltage do you have and where are the gain and bass boost set ?

  11. We are holding a sale on the SAZ-1000D model for $275 shipped in the continental USA -- regular price is $315 each. Everyone knows what these bad boys can do! Here is a link to the specification page : Sundown Audio - SAZ-1000D Either contact your favorite online or local dealer or send me a Paypal to [email protected] to order ! This would make a GREAT combination with the close-out SAX-50.4 for a complete Sundown amp system for only $475 total.
  12. It really does... if the sub hole is leaky it makes a huge different. In my "Magic Box" for the single 15" driver I gain 1.4 dB with tape *laughs* Beer + Jig Saw = not a snug fit. In other boxes that are SUPER tight it doesn't do anything, though.
  13. You must be an SPL competitor -- you then contact me with some information about yourself and I determine if you are qualified.
  14. Box is right at 4 cubes total volume - not too big at all
  15. Send em over -- we could try bass-racing it next time Sean is by
  16. Right -- and I'm not trying to be an arse or anything in my earlier response... I'm just a bit on edge from all the idiots on YouTube... get defensive Seems like nobody is pleased no matter what we do *laughs*
  17. Different frequency / mic position... we are an octave down from what we were doing with the SA-8 (this requires 4x the displacement).
  18. Telling you... NOBODY is ever happy... if I post a score at the dash at the vehicle frequency it's too high... if I post one in the 30s it's not low enough... if I use a frequency that is too long to build up in a short ass car and meter MECA style then someone doesn't care about that *laughs* If we tuned this setup to hit the dash at the resonant peak it would be well over 150 dB. We are show-casing lower frequencies... and in a vehicle as short as a CRX the low frequency cannot build up sealed up so, just as if you were jamming your system going down the road, we opened it up and metered right where your head would be -- seems pretty realistic to me
  19. 50 songs out of... 500,000+ ? That isn't much I'm not saying nothing exists EVER that goes under 35 Hz... but it is absolutely NOT common. It's also not like the setup completely drops off under 35 Hz -- that was the peak.
  20. It is low unless you listen to modified music specifically design to be lower than that... I can't think of much "original" music that isn't on a bass CD that is much under 35 Hz.
  21. You just won't get as much low-end sealed... will work though. As small of a box as you can fit the motor in works for sealed... just leave 2" or so behind the magnet for air flow.
  22. 35 Hz isn't low ? Are you listening to whale calls ? *laughs*
