  3. You have DD, right ? They use a BUNCH of very soft spiders. Fi / RE spiders are a bit softer than mine for each spider - our 3 hard spiders is similar in compliance to their 4 hard spiders. The stiffest we make is 3 hard / 2 medium spiders and it is incredibly stiff.
  4. Really don't know... alot better these days as I have an Excessive Amperage 225-amp alternator now, whereas I had a stock alternator when testing the Monster sub. My factory gauge is wildly inaccurate and I have not put a DMM on the bank while burping yet.
  5. Now that I think about it the CNS is D1 - you are right. I think it would catch up with another 3000D It would certainly be much less prone to damage from over-powering as it is a larger coil than the stock Nightshade too.
  6. Did not try it - but I'd expect it to be pretty loud. If you recall it did 149.5 with on 3000D @ 1 ohm in the Jeep I have two 3000s @ 1/2 ohm each now.
  7. It might do it this weekend - coils were a bit warm from a few trial runs.
  8. Nope - I am simply running out of steam on the sub, the amps have more to go
  9. Of course... the Monster would take this sort of power continuously and the stock Nightshade for burps only - so it is not quite apples to apples!
  10. Stock 15" D2 Nightshade - Short Coil, Stock Cooling, 3 spiders Power = 2x SAZ-3000Ds strapped @ 1 ohm (internal strapping) I matched my best score with the "Monster" design. This confirms my theory that the Monster design *NEEDED* a ton of power to get loud - which confirms my decision to move with the NS-X first and continue work on the Monster design to increase efficiency AND power handling. I tried turning up the head unit more but did not gain any more SPL - just got the sub hotter!

  15. Plenty of folks run them at 0.35 DCR on 12 volts - but when you almost double the power going to 18 volts and drop it down another 33% on the DCR it tends to generate a bit more heat

  19. The one I have from him has his address on it.
  20. Naturally they will like a low tuning quite a bit.
  21. The Fs could be built to around 20 Hz no problem with a softer spider and the copper coil. Don't think anyone would want that for car audio, though
  22. The copper coil is not production... we only got a few for testing in a custom application to see how they do. It does give a nice, low, Fs that I am sure some people would appreciate... so we may consider offering them later.
  23. They windings actually ARE flat We have not metered the stock one yet in there, I imagine it would be pretty close. The aluminum would probably work better for me due to my higher frequency.
  24. Parameters are a good bit different. The copper coil has more motor strength and 120 grams more MMS - which, of course, changed the other specs.
