  1. Little update... 1) Moved the box to the drivers side and forward the width of the battery 2) In order to do this moved batteries to passenger side 3) Added a third battery New score this evening: 151.9 dB Will get pics up once I get them... was at one of my local dealers' shop when we metered it. PS: Actually put a DMM on my batteries... my little factory alternator is only charging them to 13.6 volts.
  2. PS: They are in customs being inspected... so I should have them soon.
  3. http://www.db-r.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1219867818 DB-R got one to review and test.
  4. *laughs* You all may also notice that Brandon has removed the interior door handles... he doesn't want anyone escaping during a demo.
  5. * E8 and Eminece Pro-Sound 8 in the door * Selenium PA tweeter down in kick panel Still under construction but they are LOUD
  6. Almost forgot... pictures of 12-layer next to 8-layer:
  7. I'm sure it does, I think it has more than that with more power too
  8. NP - I was in a rush typing and it was a bit confusing
  9. They amplify the signal - the power supply FETs "amplify" the car battery voltage up to power the output section and the output section amplifies the signal you input from the RCAs to power your speakers. This is of course a simplification... but they are the heart of the amp. They blow from over current most often.
  10. I still want to try moving it forward - but I cant do that until I build an amp rack so I can move the amps and batteries out of the way. The box is really quite close to the hatch.
  11. No no - with BOTH changes it did 150.9 - but with JUST the box slid over and seats back it was 150.7
  12. Slid box to drivers side and move both seats forward (seat backs upright) - did 150.7 with the box just moved over to drivers side.
  13. Have not played with it in a few days... will try sliding the box around a bit when we get a chance.
  14. One thing I forgot to mention is that he beast Coils are 1.14 DCR - so he was actually seeing less power per amp than he would see with other "D1" drivers If he had a smaller box and dropped the amps down LOW I bet the score would have been even better!
  15. Not just yet He got his own baskets and already owns some 15s - we are just re-building them.
  16. The batteries are great - if my alternator wasn't 60-amps I'd be in a good shape Won't be bringing the meter... Jeep is full of speaker parts - we are going to work on re-building some 15s into 18s for someone.
  17. The 12-layer is 13 grams lighter than the 8-layer but we actually added 41 grams of mass with our re-enforcements to hold the coil wrap together... despite the added mass we gained: Not too shabby
  18. I haven't either - leave it to Brandon to do it There is a reason we call him the "QC Specialist"
  19. On paper we gained about 10% motor strength with the 12-layer coil. We'll meter it and see what happens soon
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgnHnJ2PuAQ Check it out
  21. db-R handles all of my repairs
  22. Chris is very fair on pricing - he won't charge you for anything he did not have to do. There is a reason we teamed up and dB-R is my official repair shop
  23. Roseboro, NC ----- I do know that my cooling system is working GREAT... at enough power to tear off the former wrap the coil is good as new thermally: * This is the actual coil - our sharpie marks aren't even burnt off * You can see the wrap is crinkled up * Down like an accordion!
  24. We'll figure out something to make it even more durable I'm sure Of course, it is already quite a success as I am quite comfortable saying this thing will handle a BUNCH of burp power and a few thousand watts day to day without issue - but 6000 watts "daily" is a bit much !
  25. Yes, I am pretty confident that this method is even better. The cooling upgrade on the Nightshade is still quite good, as you have experienced, though! The coil on the monster looks as good as new thermally and I've had the four 1500s on it at 1/2 ohm all this time.
