  1. Production will begin on these soon - I'm pretty excited about these. Multi-Channel SAE amps will follow later in the year!
  2. Rich, aka: stratusrt01, has the prototype E12 right now. He'll be doing some testing on it for me to see if it needs any more changes for production.
  3. Certainly I'm pretty excited about finally getting something in the VW! I'm installing a pair of the 8s for my Dad as well
  4. We put the first alternator on yesterday - once we get a chance to fabricate a bracket the second will go on and the 3000Ds will follow
  5. I'll see what I can do about the chocolate milk trick *laughs* I keep ear plugs in his glove box to ride in it already So I take it you liked the prototype SAE-1200D as well ? FYI, it was at 1.33 ohms too.
  6. About 200 Hz will be the tops. They aren't incredibly efficient 1w/1m since the main goal was to get the most low-end, but they will work with some good power to them as a mid bass
  7. I have one pre-order for 16 of these bad boys I'm pretty excited to see that myself!
  8. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...p;hl=nightshade * Testing by Chad Hicks up to 4500 watts http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.p...ight=nightshade * These subs went to the guy with the RF amps He had an amp go out on him, not sure if he has a build log.
  9. His alternators are on the way from Excessive Amperage We'll try to get them on in the next week or two (have to make a bracket for dual alts). Once those are in he's getting two 3000Ds!
  10. That will be the look for all SAE models - until now it has only been the SAE-1000D but that'll be changing in the coming months
  11. If you check my b-stock thread on here I do have some b-stocks available - in future runs I should not have any more as I really got on my motor build house about the back plate machining - so let me know if you are interested in them before they are gone
  12. Congrats! Very nice score I had to call one of my other customers who is installing four Nightshade 15s and four 3000Ds (for SPL comps) to let him know how yours did! He's pretty excited now.
  13. Even the old heat-sink was fairly heavy duty - with adequate thermal mass and surface area a fan is not really necessary. The Class-D models are also quite efficient, so that helps. I've been testing the proto in a MUCH lighter case and it's never had a thermal issue - so it should run very very cool in the newly tooled SAE case!
  14. *laughs* It's a stock basket and they had it in chrome in stock to speed up my prototype Will defiantly be black for production!
  15. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=16886 Information originally posted over here - so you can check in and follow the discussion that has already happened.
  16. SAE-1200D Renderings: Added 5mm cooling fins under the face of the amp, similar to the SAX / SAZ heatsink (10mm for these). --- This amp will actually replace the SAZ-1500D at the consumer level. It will produce around 1500 watts actual output in a regular vehicle at 1 ohm and the price will be between the current SAE-1000D and SAZ-1500D - so it is a better deal for most folks running at 1 ohm at 14.4 volts. It has great protection - over-current kicks in at around 1600 watts at 1 ohm (clipping), the amp will simply shut off for a few seconds so you know you are well into clipping. Abuse testing for over a month has shown NO issues with this model even with severe voltage drop. Other amps will be following to finally fill out the SAE line - including an updated SAE-1000D model (name changed to 800D, but will produce 1000 watts just like the 1000D does now). It will cost LESS than the current SAE-1000D does. The new SAE amps are not strappable, but do have line-outs to daisy chain - you could also still strap them with an external device such as a Maxx-Link. Also looking at 50x4 and a 75x2 models... perhaps even an SAE-1600D or SAE-1800D to really give the "consumer level" products some punch. So, why the SAE line ? They will perform just as well as an SAZ at 1 ohm and 14.4 volts or less - they will not have 1/2 ohm stability or high voltage stability. Most people don't need that and they add cost even for those who will never use their amps in that manner. Those customers that DO want those things will still look to the SAZ line which will be getting a 2000D model and possibly a 5000D model - most SPL guys that want such features want larger than the 1500D anyway.
  17. I opened up pre-ordered for those that want to pre-order. Direct ordering will remain open for a few weeks after they come in so you can wait and order them then if you like. Just thought I'd open it for those that had money burning a hole in their pocket http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=17005
  18. That one is barely used - never repaired. Db-R sells refurbs: http://www.db-r.com/sell/store/index.php?productID=146 The refurbs also come with a full 1-year warranty - Chris re-builds the whole amp, even FETs that are not blown, to ensure longevity. So it's pretty much like getting a new amp besides the fact that they may have a mark on them here or there (most are in pretty good shape).
  19. Keep your eye on the thread, it is updated when new stuff is available.
