  1. That is correct. There are a few reasons : 1) I was trying it out and it's not really a necessity. 2) It's expensive 3) It will increase the likelihood of breaking a frame as the mass is spaced farther away (like a longer lever)
  2. I like the performance of this spider better overall on the woofers it is used on. It's also slightly oversized @ 8 3/8" OD -- so has more throw than our other spider packs that are a more tradition 8"
  3. are you trying to bust our balls or something? that song hits the current peak of the truck the way it sits now, which is 41-42hz ...it also does 160+ all the way down to 38, and 159+ down to 35. plays down to 25hz with less than a 3db drop.... we have posted a full range of scores from 25-40hz earlier, albeit at a slightly lower power level this truck is also fused on all power runs...one of the problems we have now is when playing full tilt the fuses between the battery bank and amps start to heat up and we start loosing voltage there. However it is not a problem to demo for extended periods of time in the 158-159 range :drink40: :drink40:
  4. 1.2 is on the big side for our 8s... about 2x the typical suggestion. It's even a bit big for SA-10s If you really want to you can run the v.2s in the box -- they actually are more forgiving of huge boxes than the v.1s are
  5. sweet. on my way to vegas now on inflight imternet =) glad you like it so far. preorder thread does have ts specs in the klippel report under the `small signal` column
  6. Mario, Hit the bottom ? Not sure if it's a slang term I don't know -- but the sub never did bottom out. I did smack my knuckle with the cone, though, which made a loud sound *laughs*
  7. The new NS v.3 15" woofer powered by 2500 @ 1 ohm pushed all the way into audible clipping. No sweat for this bad boy  ORIGINAL THREAD : Car Audio Classifieds ----------
  8. The 12-layer coils compared to an NS v.2 coil -- they are shorter but much wider and they use a VERY thick winding. These coils offer the most motor force in this motor and incredible thermal capacity. We'll also do testing with 8-layer round coils as another option -- details will come out on those as we do the testing of course
  9. I am uploading a video now... should be about 45 minutes or so. I played it free air with everything an SAZ-2500D @ 1 ohm has in it... even pushed into audible clipping. The cone hit my knuckle and scraped some skin off during the video too *laughs* It moves with a ton of authority. You can actually feel the difference while holding it compared to our other big subs.
  10. The only data I have on ETA is what I said a bit earlier -- in the 1st half of the year. The specifics depend on how quickly the final prototype gets here and how long production takes.
  11. On woofers we build in house we usually don't do pre-sales.
  12. Few other points... 1) The stock spider will be the Z v.3 style spiders with an extra layer added -- just like the prototype I built up. 2) In addition to the extra layer I am looking at triple lead wires standard. 3) The power rating will naturally be more than 2000... I was thinking 2500 or so as our rating on it. 4) In addition to the 12-layer flats I will probably stock an 8-layer round coil as well. --- Pricing is pending. Obviously a bit more than the NS v.2 as the motor has MUCH more machine time in it and more material plus the coils cost more. It will be based on the difference in actual production cost and no more than that.
  13. *drum roll* Everyone meet the NS v.3 motor. Minus the top shorting ring and a few minor internal changes that we worked out on the Z v.3 design ... and we'll have them in the 1st half of this year. Due to the size of the motor in 15s and 18s only.
  14. Funny story... I grabbed the original Monster v.1 prototype the other day for the first time in a while so I could power test some amps (as it's damn near impossible to blow the thing) and thought "MAN this thing is heavy!" as it's about 90 lbs... then I grabbed the v.2 and realized it's not nearly as heavy. Well thinking back I never weighed the v.2 prototype and it is alot lighter than I assumed it was. Amazing how being so busy you forget to do simple things. All the shaping I did on the steel cut off WAY more weight than I thought. Which means, what ? I can use standard frames without them snapping off. So what can that mean ?!
  15. Is everyone ready for some news about this prototype ?
  16. Small signal is traditional TS measurement -- which is 34 Hz The other spec set is large signal TS -- something you'll only see on a Klippel report like this.
  17. Kind of a funny video of Paco playing his truck yesterday. It's getting louder and louder. I think it has even more in it... 153 @ 25 Hz 154 @ 33 Hz 155 @ 45 Hz Very flat too... we haven't metered higher yet, though. 12x Obsidian 12s 3x SAZ-3500Ds 7x XS Power D1000s charging 18.8v
  18. If your main goal is music and low distortion you'll love it -- you may not be ecstatic if you are metering especially at higher frequencies. We will also offer a unit with a more SPL oriented coil... I am actually bringing in 100 of them with the production run of stock units.
  19. We do not make / sell any grilles at all. I am not aware of anything that would work either -- would have to fabricate something that allows enough room for the cone to move.
  20. No problem! Response is very smooth for a "loud" mid for sure.
  21. This pre-order will be over as soon as I get back from CES. I get back the 17th and back to work on the 18th... so you have until the 18th to get orders in @ this price.
  22. lmao... Jacob you don't even want to know the size of some of the boxes I've done then. You'd have a heart attack. hahaha I'm sure I would, haha! I am more comfortable with the v.2 being used in bigger boxes as it has so much more suspension capacity -- so I may be able to lay off the heart pills when I see your boxes
  23. Yes, they are in the Klippel report posted in the first post/
  24. You would need to contact the Canadian distributor.
