Threads for the NS-1 so far : NS-1 and SAE-500D Prototype Pictures - Car Audio Classifieds Amplifier Stock News (Announcement Inside) - Car Audio Classifieds ----- * 6x SA-12 for testing * NS-1 dropped in for testing with various meters * Derrick has 3x XS D3100s and 2x Mechman 300-amp alts * DC Current Clamp Derrick measured 7100-watts on MY Extech Clamp meter and captured 82v with his RMS volt-meter -- so we calculated that to be 0.95 ohms actual with rise from 0.33 nominal. Voltage dropped to 12.3 volts with 646 amps of measured draw on my DC clamp meter. We let everything cool off for a while and hit it again and saw 7200-watts as well but didn't grab all of the other information that round. If we turned it up any more it would simply draw more current with no increase in measured power output on my meter. We are quite happy with the performance as is Derrick

Some pics from the latest production run that was recently on pre-order that is due end of July to first of August. These have all of the updates to date on the v.1 plus : 1) New slightly taller spacer ring with full Sundown logo (few mm extra for SPL burps) 2) New revised cast frame with better clearances They are compatible with other SA-8s made to date as these are still a v.1 model.

Pre-ordering is over! We expect these in last week of July to first week of August.

They are $135 each normally (+ SH to your country).

We can build the motors up to whatever size and coil configuration that you want.

I figure that ~285 MAP from a dealer will still be about right.

The Z v.3 will be out newest 1500-watt woofer -- about 90 days out. In the mean-time we do have some v.2 motors still stocked that are not 100% cosmetically perfect -- these are a solid 1500-watt driver much more suited to your power.

I am still working -- finalizing changes for the SA series v.2 which I will incorporate into this at initial launch.

What is your box like ? Being our 600-watt line there is a point where you have to back down a bit running a large amp on them. I'd suggest looking into the Z v.3 line when available.

I have something special in the works for the v.2 of the SA-8 I decided that nothing I've tried yet makes me say "DAMN... that sure beats the first version hands down!" -- so I'm going farther with it before release. This will drive cost up... but IMO will be totally worth it. I may be able to bump power handling up to 600 RMS to match the other sizes of the SA series. Stay tuned.

I miss my Bimmer -- had a very nice sounding system in there! How does it sound ?

I don't think the AQ-2200D would be an issue for it... the coil is beefier than what we used in the Nightshade v.1
