  1. At the moment not planning to use gaskets -- we will have an o-ring that snaps into the back of the frame to seal against the box. May change in the development process, but we will see.
  2. Updating CACO threads, thanks Greg !
  3. Yes it is Lots of win to share on the SA series!
  4. http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60051 A collection of threads about SA series woofers being awesome I'm going to keep the central thread on CACO to make it easier to update. What am I missing ? I am trying to compile all of the best threads about the SA series woofers as I keep seeing threads like "Is the SA-12 any good?" -- linking this thread would be a quick way to answer AND give good information.
  5. The Neo-8 can move up to 36.75mm before bottoming out in the motor... linear x-max is around 25mm but it can move the coil right up to suspension limits. Ferrite 2.5" coil design can move up to 38mm before bottoming out in the motor... linear is around 19mm but again it can move the coil right up around 30mm one-way before leaving the gap.
  6. Yes -- and so will the frame. Depending on the model woofer the motor may not be designed for 35mm one-way as it requires alot of depth to achieve and most folks with 8s don't want an 8" depth as well, haha.
  7. I have two cone versions being made... one for 2.5" coil (daily design, Ferrite) and one for 3" coil (SPL design, NEO-8 project). They will look identical from the front -- but will have a different spider, motor, and coil behind them
  8. Concept drawings of cone / surround for this design. We are going a different route that planned earlier on in the NEO-8 thread as this frame allows even more clearance than the one we had considered. The surround supports 35mm one-way throw.
  9. Greg, our distributor in Russia, sent me the link
  10. ÎÒÂ-Ïðèì >> [PRO] Òà÷êè: àâòîçâóê êàê îí åñòü First car is a SQ ride with one SA-12 -- I caught a "Sundown Audio" around 6 minutes (I don't understand Russian so that is all I got). At around 8 minutes they get into the Team Sundown Russia Mitsubishi Pajero ground pounder with four SA-12s. Looks like audio is big time in Russia with a 15-minute segment on car audio !!!
  11. At about 8 minutes they get into the Team Sundown Russia Mitsubishi Pajero.
  12. I heard "Sundown Audio" at ~6 minutes !
  13. Something we are working on... Was designed around the needs of our NEO-8 project : Project I'm Working On - Car Audio Classifieds But will eventually find it's way into other projects... I've started a new Ferrite 8" design to be used with this frame... depending on the cost / performance may move up to X8 designation (based on motor the size of the SA-12). It is a bit over-sized from a standard 8" cut-out and OD but that was needed to get a large spider on an eight finally ETA not set yet... but keep your eyes out !
  14. Sean and I had well over 1000 watts on it for a burp.
  15. Many people who were still also friends with my personal page will notice that they no longer are as of this morning -- this is nothing personal towards anyone -- I am merely separating my personal page and my Sundown Audio page. This is quite necessary. So, again, no offense to anyone in particular -- you are all more than welcome to contact me on here, by forums, and by e-mail at any time.
  16. Well, Hank -- I would say Yes but your wife might cut me (mine too).
  17. Playing a Bass Mekanik track that drops down to 20 Hz. We are using an SAZ-2500D @ 1 ohm on the woofer -- the first part of the track shows the sub playing at maximum un-clipped volume and then we push it into clipping towards the end to show how much is TOO much sub movement. You can actually hear a bit of "buzzing" right at first after I turn it up for the second run -- that is audible clipping.
  18. As of right now... due to some changes in our business model to include distributors all prices may be up about ~5% some time soon, though, as an FYI.
  19. Possibly... depends on if the current surrounds pass my torture test. If they do I won't change them -- if they don't I will tool up a set similar to the 18"
  20. Need to play the 12 and 15 some before measuring specs but here are 18" and 10" specs after a couple minutes play time... should experience a good bit more break-in over a week or so of play time. 21. SA-8s are back in stock. * This run has the new surround tooling. * New spider not implemented yet -- will be available on the November-December run. SA-10 D2 are back in stock. * This run has the magnet boots. * New spacer ring / pole cap will be available on the November-December run.
  22. Haha... well on the 10" the magnet boot may have to be removed if you use 8 awg speaker wire so the motor is a wee bit too large for 8s.
