  1. [quote name='fritosaregood' date='25 July 2010 - 10:15 PM' timestamp='1280110548' post='1153908' some sundown amps like to fry if you play them with no speaker hooked up. how long were you testing? Some ANY brand amps will fry with no speakers hooked up. You can get the output voltage beyond what it should be with no load connected.
  2. It will be the same price from us or a dealer - you can order from whomever you like.
  3. Doesn't have anything to do with XBL^2 -- typically you have a lower inductance and more high-end output. In the case of the XXX the tremendous low-end made the top end sound quieter... that and the lack of higher "middle bass" peaking at increased excursion due to the lack of shifting Qts over stroke.
  4. *laughs* The motor is gigantic... would be hard to fit for mid-bass. I'm trying out several ideas for the Neo 8... this one is TOTALLY different from the other one... this one is overhung, huge motor, solid core, 2.5" coil, giant shorting ring, etc. The other is XBL^2, compact motor, vented core, 3" coil, smaller shorting rings, etc.
  5. ... Neo-8 -- here is the other design I'm trying... more traditional over-hung design. Will be testing head to head with the XBL^2 unit when it is ready. Sneak peak as this prototype has been fully assembled at the factory : I would use a different frame if this were to be produced as the spider on this sample is not going to handle the throw I want.
  6. Email me or go to one of our authorized dealer web-sites or check to see if you have a local dealer.
  7. It's another option for customers to choose from - apparently they had enough calls for Sundown that they tracked me down and asked me to become a dealer.
  8. Not sure how many people are going to have motors *laughs* Don't see many SA series getting blown.
  9. Actually (surprise) -- I brought in some 15" re-cone kits already So I could actually re-build some as 15s now if someone had motors.
  10. I love the SA-12s... I was just breaking in an SA-12 D2 on the test bench on a 1500D @ 1 ohm at maximum volume on our bench head unit even with some audible clipping and it was just fine. Of course it got a wee bit warm after a couple minutes of doing that but that is normal as a 1500D is a beast. NOTE: I do not suggest doing that for a long period of time but it's fun to watch the sub take it without any real audible distress.
  11. Thanks for the comments guys ! I was REALLY happy with them too - glad it's not just me
  12. Standard on future production runs starting now with 8s and 12s. I'll still have 10s for a while with no boots -- you CANNOT add a boot to an older woofer as we had to modify the outside diameter of the top plate a few millimeters to get them to clamp on.

  14. I will add that no cost was passed on to the end user for either the bolt down ring OR the magnet boots
  15. ... and SA-8 bolt down ring. Truck showed up late today * SA-8 and mystery prototype in background being tested. * Ohhh, nice looking magnet boot ! * Screws for bolt down ring * Just to make sure... the ring was also epoxied in. * SA-12 with magnet boot
  16. Up to about 200 Hz it would do well -- I believe someone is doing it in Russia... at least I think I heard that.
  17. You would need custom machined basket adapters and a spider adapter and a cone from someone else (we don't have them) for a 2" coil to make a 10" from it. The SA-8 parts work except for the coil on the E8 motor -- the SA-8 coil is WAY too big.
  18. Little surprise too... new magnet boots tooled as well for those that may want to inverse mount them and have a bit nicer look :
  19. Hey guy - my shipping company gave me unusually good news for once My SA-8s / 12s weren't due in Charlotte until the 25th but it seems they should be at my door tomorrow after 1:00 at some point. Unless something weird happens, of course !
