  1. Sounds about right ported.
  2. Monster Cable has been involved in many lawsuits about the "Monster" name : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Cable_Products
  3. Time travel link here... from 2008 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/19519-prototype-big-boy-spl-motor/ The project was put on hold for MUCH longer than I initially thought... thread ended in 2009 originally and nothing had really happened since then and until recently. We got tied up developing so many other more mass market products for the last 2 years or so.
  4. Verified the length of the NS-1 will be ~28.5" or so -- so it's really not a whole lot physically larger than the 4500D (which is quite large already, especially in width as we do not stand our FETs up vertically).
  5. No, I have not. I may stay away from Neo sub-woofers entirely for a while.
  6. Some may recall the 2008 prototype "Monster" woofer that inspired features later found in several other drivers we make today. It's been shelved for some time... but a second revision of the prototype has been started on and we'll have some testing coming up. * Compounded smooth machining on the top plate with the NS v.2 style cross drilling. I am testing more with a top shorting ring on this design -- that is not necessarily something that will see production. * Again you see numerous smooth transitions on the back plate so we don't have excess steel where it's not needed (weight concerns). Also makes it look very interesting and unique. The goal is to replicate what I liked about the "Monster" prototype and to address some things I thought could be better. It will not actually be called Monster for legal reasons... but we call it that as a nick-name. This is a triple stack 250mm (10 inch) slug design like the Monster v.1 prototype... so it's very heavy and has a bunch of motor force behind it.
  7. When my braces came loose I lost 2 dB -- if yours is the same it's gonna be crazy
  8. SA-8s SOLD OUT (4-21-11) The large quantity we recently received have already blown out of here. I had planned to have the v.2 done some time ago and have them in production and ready to roll in around now but that did not work out as planned. In any event... the unforseen sales volume + delays on the v.2 put this production run at the end of July to come in. Until then Mike Bruno has a decent stash of the QC failed units he is re-building... and WoofersEtc.com has the last of what is in our warehouse on the way to them for new drivers.
  9. I have the flu -- I was totally out of work yesterday and I'll only be in for a short time today. So if you wondering about lack of e-mails and so forth that is why.
  10. * Image linked from sundownonly.com (online dealer) * Well... I got the magnet boot in. It's as big around as the SA-8 gasket Now you can get an idea of the scale of this thing.
  11. More info... triple 1/0 inputs to efficiently handle the full current draw of max power on 18v
  12. We make an SA-10 now: http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/products/item/sa-10-subwoofer.html?category_id=3
  13. I am going to bring in a very small run (less than 100 units) of the v.2 subs to test and send around to some folks to see what everyone can do with them While we keep working towards the v.2 the v.1 will remain available for a while as I'm still not 100% happy with the v.2
  14. Little more information for you guys... We expect about 1500 more watts than the actual output of the SAZ-4500D on a 12v system... output section was expanded from 16 to 24 MOSFETs (same part # units) so it is extremely over-built in this regard. I have a few more bases to cover on it but more information soon and also prototypes in the works
  15. Originally it was not going to be possible... but I've done some coil tweaking and it does look like the v.2 coil will fit the v.1 motor. Gap dimensions are close enough that it shouldn't really be a problem.
  16. Power was clamped this weekend -- ~7300 watts legal and Outlaw. Sub is just fine. I was a bit worried about Outlaw as I didn't test it until that video at the show -- was not sure how it would load -- but the SA-15 proved itself again !
  17. Few updates : 1) I am running a full container load of the v.1 SA-8s to meet demand -- these will be in stock in July. So we'll be sold out for a bit as the massive amount we just got recently are already nearly depleted. 2) This run of v.1 models will have the v.2 frame on them -- as there are reasons beyond cosmetic for the frame. They will be fully compatible with any SA-8 with the newest surround and spider, though. From the front will look no different either. 3) Once these are gone then we'll work on launching the v.2 models -- R&D is almost done on them. But they should be out around August to September. Sean will be up next week to try out the latest SA-8 v.2 sample -- I feel like it is probably where it needs to be for launch but we want to make sure before actually putting them out to the public so I am making a massive v.1 run as I mentioned to hold us over.
  18. I don't end up with many QC issues on the 10s/12s/15s but I may have 3 or 4 of those motors around if you want to e-mail Mike about getting those from me to re-cone.
  19. Deaden the roof -- big time ! I gained nearly a dB doing so... also add some glue or something to the roof braces. When mine broke off I lost 2 dB solid until I glued them back on. If you are tuning low I'd foam in the rear quarter panels -- mine flexed like mad until I did that in lower tuned boxes.
  20. 53 Hz -- any of my narrow boxes peak at 53 Hz; one 15, one 18, two 8s, etc. Wider boxes that go all the way across peak at 45-47 Hz -- like my four 12s box or two 15s boxes.
