    because LP is for SUBS low frequencies and HP is for high frequencies for tweeters and mid range speakers A high-pass filter(HPF) is a device that passes high frequencies and attenuates (i.e., reduces the amplitude of) frequencies lower than its cutoff frequency. High pass means "from here up" Low means "from here down" The slope is how fast it stops the choosen frequency. It's not like building a wall.
