  1. Yeah both joey and pimpedout have seen my car and connections in person. They are ran in very nice spots, soldered nicely, and tightened up. Is there anyway a short circuit could of caused this to blow on this end of the fuse? SO confused here.
  2. Hey John I actually forgot to give you a call today but can you do or know anyone that can do some powder coating for me? For the most part it looks like I will need my door handles, running boards, roof racks, and emblems all powder coated black. Also, I found out today that chicken did his EXT interior black, but he didn't replace it, he just dyed his. I am wondering if Steve's the one who did it or if he knows who did, I am really really interested in getting my interior fully black, including all the plastic interior pieces.
  3. Alot of people argue about what the sub can take, but I guess now we all know it can take atleast 1600 daily. Im putting a Sundown 1500 on it.
  4. Aight went outside and checked the fuse. Had some buddies over and they said it looks like it was either arcing or I had a bad short circuit and it went back up to the fuse and blew it. I did short out through my amp one night but thats the only time anything near a short happened. I was fucking with my second amp in the dark and... as bad as it sounds, switched the power and the ground to my second amp. I blew all the fuses in the amp but a quick trip to get new fuses fixed all that. I then hooked up the second amp/sub and was excited to finally be pounding both my 15's when it just sounded like complete ass. I checked polarity, checked if they were in phase, everything was fine, it just did not sound loud at all. So I removed the second amp and second sub and tested out my single sub/amp setup in the same box and it was twice as loud. I dont know if maybe me testing out both amps put too much draw on the power wire and burnt it up at that spot. If anything you think the fuse in the back is what would of blown/or burnt. Here are some better pictures of the washers that were holding down that side of the fuse. I can't believe a piece of metal got that hot under the hood of my car.
  5. fuse holders fine just need a new set of washers/screw. Actually I should stop being so cheap I guess Ill pick up a new fuse holder.
  6. Thanks everyone you don't know how much I appreciate it. Ill check it out tomorrow some more and see what the deal is. I'm pretty sure that is the cause of all my problems, I just got off the phone with one of my boys who told me he had the exact same symptoms with his system and it turns out his fuse was messed up too.
  7. I wont get anything from 2 BTL's getting 1600 watts. I guess it just means time to switch to the sundown 3000's. But really, are my coils that bad?
  8. Actually I am not positive, I never removed the fuse in fear of getting shocked or some crazy shit. At this point, I am very unsure of my electrical. Its almost as if the fuse was suppose to blow but instead the screw/nut/bolt assembly blew instead.
  9. So I will not lie. I beat the shit out of this BL everyday with about 1600 watts continuously. I'm sure the signal is not the cleanest either, but after a month of slamming, I took it out and the only bad thing is the spider has a hole worn in it from tinsel slap. Now the coils do look a bit... off color. Is there a way to tell by looking at your coils if its beginning to burn? I don't exactly know how the process of blowing a sub works, if it gradually does it or it just blows at once, but here are some pictures, you tell me.
  10. Ok, picking this up from my past 2 threads So far I'll sum it up for you... -Driving around bumping as usual, notice bass is hitting almost half as hard for random periods of time. This is an on and off process. -I feel the positive battery terminal on the Kinetik 1400 in the back, its extremely hot. -Take off positive battery terminal in the back and just put ring terminals directly on battery posts (not a very tight connection since I'm missing washers) -Driving around again with my on and off bumping music, notice one washer on the positive terminal is MOLTEN hot and sparks begin to fly. Then a whining noise comes and I almost want to say it was from my battery? -Today I disconnect everything and open my hood, what do you fucking know, the fuse holder up front is melted into my factory fusebox (where its secured) and it actually welded the washers to the ring terminal. The fuse is not blown the system still worked 100% fine. I don't understand. Heres some pictures for you guys. Now what the fuck could cause this? Does a short circuit cause extreme heat? The fuse would of blown, what about an arc like someone was saying? I am extremely confused and ANY help at all will be rewarded.
  11. Also I forgot to add even when my sub starts playing real low my voltage is staying the same, in general my voltage never drops. If it was a charging problem wouldn't I see a voltage drop?
  12. So I am looking at my install and I am fused twice between batteries, once in the front and once in the back, but I am not fused between my amp and battery, and I am not sure if my ground is on the chassis, could this cause the following problems I'm having? (red hot positive terminal on battery, sparks on positive battery terminal, bass sounding very weak periodically?)
  13. Yeah I'm fused in the back and in the front, but I am frustrated up to the point of just selling my system now. Just got in my car and it was bumping sounding about how it used to then I turned it up and boom bass just hops back down and wont go back up.
  14. Ill check, but its brand new 0g knukonceptz fleks which really should not be worn at all. I ran it along in a very safe spot, concealed, etc. Im honestly afraid to get back into my car untill I know 100% what the problem is.
  15. Ok so for any of you that have read my past threads my system has really been fucking up. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=16977 Anyways, other than it sounding half as loud for most of the time I try to play music, my fucking positive battery terminal started to glow hot red today and spark. Then I heard a really bad whining noise and I almost want to say it came from my battery in the back but I am not sure. Im really confused about whats wrong and if anyone could help me out just a bit I would appreciate it. Could is possibly be a bad ground? Let me know.
  16. Either your boy or this one place real close to my house I just found out about, going to check out some of there work today.
  17. I realized now it would be alot easier to work from the interior out, so my goal here is to black everything out in the inside too. I just found a guy that will do my interior for a decent price, so that takes care of my leather seats, my headliner, and my carpet. But now I have to replace alllllll the factory cream color pieces, which is where my troubles begin. I can either go to a junkyard and find a 2004 escalade/yukon/tahoe/suburban with black interior and get those parts, or I can find a site that sells them, but I have no idea if there is a website like that. So does someone have a link to a site that sells GM interior pieces?
  18. Sounds terrible that other box in the background is 10x louder.
  19. Oh that could be a problem if you don't know what kind of sub it is. If its a BTL there is a chance it has a third magnet, if not it still could be a BTL, but the Q has a more rounded magnet at the end I believe, almost like a cone. Thats the best I can explain.
  20. False on so many levels. Under powering a sub generally leads to people throwing a dirty signal at it to get it louder. Clipping/distortion comes in, then game over, but I doubt 1000 watts is even moving a BTL.
  21. Personally I like really dark tint, this right here is 5 and I am not pleased, but in your situation beggars cant be choosers, you should be fine with 15%. Now wait till I get my second layer of 5
