  1. Yeah, it could be any number of things, you can't really know until you get it tested.. But just remember not to always trust people at autozone, I took my car there to have the bat tested and they told me I had a bad ECU, now I don't see why a bad ecu would cause my car not to start, so I took it over to O'reilly autoparts and then they said it was a bad alternator, and if my alternator was bad I didn't see how I could jump it so easily, then I took it back to the dealer and it ended up just being a bad battery (too much bass for stock bat. to handle). This may have been just 2 freak occurrences at 2 different autopart store's, but just keep in mind if you do take it to autozone, those people are making like 8 bucks an hour and couldn't probably care less about you or your car.
  2. I've seen this video before, it's some Australian comedy show.. not real but still funny.
  3. Ha I looked on FI's site for differences in the subs by the pictures and I couldn't tell any until you said that.. now that I compared them again I'm pretty sure it's not a btl, heres a couple pics of it.
  4. It definitely gets loud, but the sub is actually second hand and i was told it was either a BTL or a Q, which is another reason I'm going with 1000W.. it is very possible that it is only a 1000W sub, but I have no way of knowing because the person I got it off of was not sure. You think the fact that it even bumps means it's not a btl?
  5. Ok, just to clarify here... You really think I need a bigger alternator just to push my amp set at 900w? I was thinking just a good dry cell like a yellow top would do the trick. Not trying to keep asking the same thing over and over, would just like another opinion before I go changing alts.
  6. I just wanted some extra power to be available if I ever wanted to use it. I knew a 1000W amp couldn't really cause much damage to a 2000W sub, and like I said in the first post, I thought my stock system could power it. I have 2 amps in my truck powering 1 12, and 4 door speakers and never had any problem with powering them, but then again I think those 2 amps from my truck have less power combined than the 1 in my car. Anyway, could I just get a yellow top and put it in the trunk and keep the stock battery where it is, would that be too hard on the alt? would a kinetic in back be enough? would a cap. help any? thanks.
  7. I have 1 18" Q being powered by a Sundown SAE-1000D, 1000 Watt amp. Right now I'm just using the stock battery, and I don't think that it has enough power, because I already killed one battery after only using it very little. I need to know if I should get a better alternator or just a better battery, and maybe a capacitor. I'm not sure what type of battery I should get either... I was looking into getting an Optima yellow top, but I'm not sure which one would fit best in my car. The system is in a 2004.5 model Volvo S40, and I didn't see any Volvo option on Optima's website or any of their dealers. So, to shorten this up a bit I need to know: -what battery to get, or if the first battery dieing was just some sort of freak accident that shouldn't happen again -if i need a better alt. Here are the amp specs., Wattage is RMS and mine is running right now at 900W- # 1000 x 1 watts @ 1 ohm # 600 x 1 watts @ 2 ohms # 300 x 1 watts @ 4 ohms # 0.2v - 6v adjustable input sensitivity # 10 Hz - 350 Hz Frequency Response # > 90 dB S/N Ratio # 4-Way Protection Circuit (Thermal, Overload, Speaker Short, and Over Current) # Linkable to another SAZ-1000D for 1800 watts @ 2 ohms # 35 Hz - 300 Hz adjustable 24dB Low-Pass Crossover # 10 Hz - 60 Hz adjustable 24dB Subsonic Filter # 0 - 180 degree adjustable phase shift # 0 - 18 dB adjustable bass boost with 45 Hz center frequency # Wired Remote Control unit included # 3x 30 Amp Internal Fuses # 4 AWG power and ground terminals ** # 11.5" L x 10.2" W x 2" H
  8. Ok, as you could probably tell by my sn my name is Alex. I have always put systems in my car, but nothing compared to what a lot of you here are doing. Right now I have two small vehicles and can't fit a whole lot in them. I have a Dodge Dakota with 1 12" component Pioneer(all I could fit in the standard cab), and I have it powered by a 1000W Fosgate punch amp, also have another amp, 4 channel fosgate powering 4 poke audio door speakers. In my car it's fairly compact, a Volvo s40, and have 1 18" FI btl powered by a sundown 1000W amp. Not only was space an issue with the volvo, but they crammed the engine in there so tight I don't think I could fit a bigger/second alt., so for now I'm under powering the sub. I really don't want to cause any damage to the car with anymore power either . Umm, found out about this site on youtube. Peace.
  9. The national credit score(for America) I know is less than 700, and you should be able to get a home lone with just about any credit score, a higher one would only help with lowering interest rates. Also lien holders won't necessarily have the same credit score as you might find yourself online, so I wouldn't rely on that alone. And generally anybody can get a home loan who has a job and not too much debt to income ratio, houses aren't going to run off like, say, a car might.
  10. If you already have keyless entry and a factory alarm I wouldn't bother adding a viper alarm. I had a viper alarm in my old truck and it wasn't anything special, only reason I got it was to control after market actuators for the doors and windows, and the remote starter. The alarm itself was really, in my opinion, cheaply made and not worth the money. You can easily disable them, which I ended up having to do several times because of the very short battery life of the remotes. Viper alarms are highly over rated, but if you still want one you can buy them for under $100 on amazon... they have just about any model you could want, at cost.
  11. Speaking of work, I've been kind of 'lurking' around this site a little checking out some of your builds, and can't help but wonder what it is you do for a living that you can afford all this equipment and still have the time to install all of it. May be kind of a personal question but I was just curious...
