That amplifier at 2 ohm should be great on 1 VVX-10; be sure to tune the amplifier properly and you should be all set!

Check the settings on your amplifier - could be causing the heat build up. As others have said - the subwoofer can possibly get hot after normal use on full tilt, but should not be hot enough to where you are getting a distinct bad "smell" or if you touch it is so hot it will burn you - that is not good.

Quick Update - they are a bit behind due to a shipping delay. The boat was held up for about 9 days in port, but it is and has now been in transfer for a bit. My shipping company confirmed they would be in my hands by 5/9. Just a short delay but we are now looking at a solid ETA upon which they will begin shipping immediately!
