If I was you i'd just carry some tire fixer or something just incase, you can't really have a system if you're worried about utilizing space you need in the back area. If you want to POUND effectivly with little money invested a box is your best bet, if you dont mind what you have then keep it, whatever you do don't trade that 15" will take almost twice the power of those memphis.

I won't quote but you're in the ballpark of spending around $600 for the alternator, the benefit will be worth more than just power options. Youll have less clipping which will make your equipment/vehicle electrical last a lot longer, you'll sound better and probably gain a dB or two, also no dimming lights and all that good stuff. Most people under-rate the alternator, I would buy a nice 150a from DC even if I didnt have a system because it makes the whip run way more efficient. -
If your friend had his whole trunk taken up by those two L5's he made the box bigger to compensate for power loss... I ran two 15 comps @ 3cft each and still had massive room in my grand prix,it was sealed though but I'd imagine a port single 15" should be fine. I could design you a box but im not gonna bother until you decide.

My friend was running two 12" L5's @ 2ohm off an Alpine MRP-2000.1 with the gain all the way up (he didn't care kid makes 3000 a month for free) they didnt kick off or smell after about 5 good minutes, I was as surprised as you are my friend. and theres nothing wrong with square subs, they sound terrible but they do put out a worthy punch. Don't go with the memphis it'd be a big mestake, if you can't do a big box than 2 12's and a single 15 are probably not up your alley. I'd opt for a good single 12 or two 10's and build a small box. tbh 3-3.5cft isn't that big in a grand prix you could MAYBE get to your spare tire depending how the box's dimensions are.

You'll want about 104amps for ever 1500RMS. You'll want atleast 4kw on that badboy so I'd say you'd need about 300amps + whatever your vehicle calls for to effectivly runt hat subwoofer with no clipping. I'd hitup mechman or DC alts and get a good 300amp alternator and another yellow top. -
I like Memphis but those two 12's are only 500RMS while the 15" L5 is 750 (perfect for the amplifier) not to mention i've seen 12" L5's take 1000RMS daily. I've also owned a Grand Prix 97 and they have huge trunks you need to build a new box. I would keep the 15" and build a box subwoofer and port to the rear. (I ran two 15's in my grand prix you can do 1 15" easy) I'd suggest running RMS off the amplifier (probably around 1000) to the subwoofer (if your electrical can handle it, which stock electrical can probably do 1000rms) Build a box 35hz @ 3.5cft net ported and fire them both to the rear should be a lot louder.

DD M series are made to run at maximum voltage (rms) at around 11-12v I would aim to just get a steady 13v and no more. I think you could get away with two XS1200's and one in the front personally. Thats the whole point to this amplifier, if it wasn't for that ability it wouldnt be worth $1400. I just saw its the m4a not the m3a so you might need two 3100's and a 1200 but thats ALL if you had that youd be 14v stable. Also you alternator might stuggle a little given that you need 300a alone for the amplifier then 60/90/120 for the vehicle, you'll get voltage drop eigther way.

This question is asked daily, you could maybe try searching the forums for the answer.

I do a 147 off 1500RMS without clean signal (i drop to like 11.5-12v full tilt) I'm upgrading to another 18" this summer and another 1500RMS so trust me I am going "big" I m not talking about xplods and stuff like that ONLY I'm saying a subwoofer that costs $100 in a box built can sound louder than a $300 subwoofer in a crappy box and that is what intices me into audio. I've heard 150+ systems and ones that rock my head off, I'm just saying the build process isn't as interesting because this site is mostly elitist and almost ALL you see is big builds. DC Wall here, Fi wall there, Tahoe here, Yukon there. I like seeing someone take a 10" in a CRX and get 150dB and only spend $1000. I guess what I'm getting at is, its just more interesting seeing newbies do work and come out ontop or seeing small cheap systems being very effective, I have seeing $10,000 systems doing a 155+ all days its not that amazing or suprising to be honest. First thing I think of when I see "4 18" walled 20,000rMS" is ok another 155+ in an SUV big whoop. then I turn around and see some dude that at the same level of know how as me with a 1,000$ system doing almost the same score its LIKE dude thats COOL AS HELL and btw prefab or not those hifonics WANG in that car I was suprised hence what made me more interested

Shit I didnt even realize it was an 07 thread lmfao, regaurdless Locktite was invented then I believe -
I LOVE GUCCI TIME but... it doesnt pound AT ALL heres a remix that hits the lows 10x harder imo a better song

Prefab box? I don't know what you're talking about? The hifonics one I saw was two of them in a custom built box I believe? or was the a prefab? Looked custom to me. I can see how a 150+ is gratifying but the cost and work to get there almost makes it not as gratifying... When you start out with a single 10" off crappy power in a prefab and work your way to 145+ in 1 upgrade or even two from the knowledge you've gained it just seems more gratifying ive had 6 different builds and so far im the least happy with my 18" and the BEST build ive done so far. It just seems so bland and normal now in comparison. I like when people can make two xplods as loud as two DC's just cause of their install I dont know theres a ton of variables but Merk said it best, just more companies in mid/entry level offer more, once you're into $400 subwoofers the options seem to drop and everyone has the same thing. and im talking about build logs , not just overall the end result... I like to see a newbie come on here gain knowledge from us and build then more often than not the shit wangs in the end and they're so happy it just seems awesome compared to OH another DC wall or oh another SMD doing 10,000rms its cool but I dont know it just doesnt pull me in like it did, of course when I first got to this site with my two 15" kickers I was wowed by that stuff ubt now that I have 147+ db's off a singe 18" it doesnt excite me anymore. and it excites me even less cause now when I get in my friends cars I dont even enjoy the bass unless its ripping my ears off.

Serioulsy ive seen soo many LVL5 or SMD builds or 18" AA or something to that effect that they're getting boring... I'm actually finding myself more entertained by the "noob" builds or entry builds as I can see people develope and give some criticism without elitism. I dont know I guess im weird but just my 2 cents like rght now theres a few wall builds up but im looking at the hifonics subwoofer build

I started out with a 15" fi SSD off 400rms it made my rearview go from straight to staring at the floor made it a little loose I used lock-tite on it was NEVER loose again and the screw comes out easy after (why would none of your think of locktite? its what the shits made for) now my 18" off 1500rms forget about it my mirror has fallon off 3 times now its under my seat -
On eBay you can get Kicker KS components for $100 a pair and they do 75rms a speaker. My friend uses these in a Yukon off a Kicker ZX840.4 and they sound amazing. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Kicker-KS6502-2-Way-6-1-2-Car-Component-Speakers-/160524494048?pt=Car_Speakers&hash=item25600164e0#ht_915wt_905
