  2. Oh ok, that's what I was thinkin but I just wasn't sure. Kinda why I wanna get rid of my 12 and get 4 8's. To show folks you can still get loud with an "unconventional" sub/setup. Plus, it's more practical for my wife and daughter when they ride in the truck with me. More room for wife and daughter = less bitching from wife about not having room in truck. LoL She loves bass and she's only 4 months old. She may not look too happy there, but she was screaming and crying before I sat her on the box while it was playing.
  3. Exactly. That guy did put a fuse in his car though...he just put it in the trunk about a foot away from the amp instead of under the hood like he should have. So when the wire pinched that's why it went to the fuse box and battery without stopping.
  4. Why did you go smaller on your system this year compared to last year?
  5. There will always be a slight difference, no matter if it's the same type of vehicle.
  6. You can have a fuel gauge with a fuel cell just like you can have a fuel gauge with a regular gas tank. You could just know your ride and be able to tell when you'll need gas soon or you can just open it up every once in a while to see how much gas you have like I used to do. LoL.
  7. Thanks for the advice. This is a street beat set up though, so I kinda need the mic for some help.
  8. Lexan is more scratch resistant than plexiglass. It may be more expensive, and it can break, but it takes a whole hell of alot to break it, plus it's shatter-proof.
  9. Every vehicles resonant frequency is different. There's no way for one of us to tell you what yours is just by asking us.
  10. Well damn, I'm starting to run out of ideas here man, LoL. If nothing we have suggested actually helped any...I dunno what else to tell you except hope like hell you can make it to the shop whenever you go back to school. Good luck on getting it straightened out, but if you get at least the idle going better...you could still do the neutral thing on your way to school, LoL. Good luck man...lemme know how it goes and what you get figured out with that thing.
  11. True, I know how that goes buying from a local shop. But now since you're trying to sell them over the internet...you're gonna have to suck up the loss. Cause ain't no one on here gonna give you more than $1200 MAX for those, plus shipping. Good luck with trying to sell them, but that's just how it is sometimes. I paid $1700 for 20's w/ tires...sold them for $1200 w/ tires...so I know.
  12. Why get the 500/1 and underpower the sub?? That's a sure way to damage it right there. Polk Audio DB212: 1500 Watts Peak/750 Watts RMS...(you have) I have a Fusion PP-AM15001 for sale right now...this amp puts out 850watts rms @2ohms. 1500watts max. It's a great amp that would power your subs very nicely, you'd love it...I have it in my truck right now. Only reason I wanna sell it is because my sub will handle more power and I have a bigger amp waiting to go in its place. PM me if you're interested. It's less than you were looking to spend on that JL amp which would've hurt your subs. (I know this isn't the for sale area, but he needs a new amp and I have one for sale that is damn near perfect for his set-up.)
  13. That is true...I saw the aftermath of that happening. It ain't pretty. Happened to an 05 Galant. The guy hooked up his system himself instead of the shop where he bought it all from. Well he ran the power wire through the fold down back seat and wasn't careful not to pinch it off when the seat was up. Well that happened and it arc'd...bad. So bad it melted the wire all along the drivers side of the car where he ran the wire, through the door jamb, where it also melted the wires for the windows, power locks, and power mirrors. Went through the firewall, into the fusebox, which blew up, and to the battery, which blew up. It got so hot that the paint on the drivers side fender blistered, melted all the plastic the wire touched along the way, and the battery acid ate up his engine compartment. All because he put the fuse between the amp and back seat, not closer to the battery like he should have done. He paid $11,000 for the car brand new (05 model close out) and did over $6000 in damage within a week. So yeah, batteries can explode.
  14. Yeah it does, but I guess it's worth it if you really really wanna protect what you have in your ride. May just be cheaper and easier to get lexan windows ans install those, LoL. (Not sure how much lexan is, but it is scratch resistant. So if the thief gets pissed that they can't bust your windows out, at least they can't scratch it.)
  15. You might be able to get about $1000 out of them the way they are now since the tires are already mounted and balanced. Can you show the original receipt to show how much you really paid??? Cause unless you can do that, you ain't gonna get anywhere near what you're asking for them bud.
  16. If you do the neutral thing when stopped you won't have the pushing forward problem. Just an engine surge, and by the way you describe that motor you got, it would just sound like a big ass cam!!! Just remember to put it in neutral BEFORE you hit the brakes, LoL.
  17. Whenever you come up to a stop, gently try to put it in neutral right before you apply brake pressure. Be sure not to already be hitting the brakes when you put it in neutral....you won't like it, LoL. Then right as you leave put it back in drive and get your ass to school safely, LoL. I used to do that in my tank cause the brakes are hydraulic and are very very touchy. So instead of overpowering them and having everyone inside get tossed forward when I hit the brakes, I'd put it in neutral and ease onto the brakes. Just be sure to hold the brakes as hard as you can before you put it back in drive, otherwise you'll get a good jump.
  18. Just watch, if you haven't already seen this...you'll laugh. And even if you have seen this, you'll prolly still laugh at it again. Ok, that didn't work out too well...I dunno which one it is exactly...just pick one and tell me which one works and I'll do an edit later. sorry you cannot post html code in here.
  19. Ask him if he could help you out in his off time. Explain the situation to him and he'd most likely do it for you, especially since you're one of his students...unless he's an asshole. If he tried to charge you, which would be pretty messed up for him to do to a student, I'd just ask a 3rd or 4th year student or shop helper what they thought.
  20. Oh well, issues with other things have put my 4 8's curiosity on hold for a while. Looks like I'll stick with this 1 12 and just add more power to it for now. If I have 550rms going to it now...how much louder do you think it would get once it's getting 1600rms??? I know that when you double power, you should gain 3db...but if i triple the power, would I gain 6db???...does this sound right to you guys??? I'm very curious to know what you think about this before I go and do it....then after I get opinions on it, I'll post TL results and show you what happened.
  21. You know your truck is low when you have a collection of different road reflectors in the glovebox or center console.
  22. Would be nice to see...anyone else in here got a system that can do that??? Make the boobie video and post it up!!!!!!!!!!!
