2004 monte carlo
brennan88 replied to brennan88's topic in Member Rides & Builds -- Show off your whip, Show off your System!
Thanks, I have ideas and plans, just no funds, lol. My jl w3v3 build was alot nicer, you can see half it through the photo bucket link, only thing you can't see is the 3rd w3 firing in through the trunk pass in the loaded band pass enclosure, those little bastards got loud and sound really good doing it too. -

Thanks man, yeah I know. Mainly lazy and last week where I'm at it's been high 90s, so too hot to mess with stuff. Only kept the cap because the volt meter, but it isn't that accurate, and once I can save up some more money I'm going to get an xs or a kinetik and just remove the cap. -

This isn't a build log, don't need one, everyone knows how to make crap, lol. Just to show some of what I have. Not real impressive, and definitely not pretty. Didn't cost alot, at all. But it gets decently loud, and does the job. Heres a link to my photo bucket account showing a bunch of other stuff I had http://s761.photobucket.com/albums/xx252/cap50again/System/ Under the hood Amp Capacitor

Rear view mirror
brennan88 replied to ecoli_23's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
Yeah I just keep r e adjusting mine. Only thing I use it for is looking for cops coming up from behind me. That's what side mirrors are for. Lol. Wait until your trunk starts to open. Have get out in traffic at a stop light to close it, lol. -
So easy a caveman can do it. Why can't you? You know how the buttons work, right? Lol I can do it, just prefer not to, like not at all. The buttons on the tv are small and on the side, but I have to go up and down one channel st a time, boring. And it's clear across the room. Sad thing is 4 fresh AAA last maybe 2 weeks, and it's not used alot. 2 AAs >4 AAA.

I read on a jeep forum, a guy from kokomo, less than 2 hours from, asked that because he wanted to remove his door. And another guy posted a clip of the law. It said any motor vehicle constructed, or loaded on any way to obstruct the rear view from the drivers seat, must have a clear view of 200ft or more behind the vehicle. And side view mirrors do that. Now that's a state law. County laws can be different and more strict. So I still need to find out my local laws. I've never been pulled over for loud music, even driving passed cops, and I dint use my rear view mirror much now now anyways, keeps falling off, lol.

I have an 04 monte carlo and I am considering walling it off. Well semi wall that doesn't go higher than my rear deck, as this is my daily driver and local laws prevent me from walling it off completely. Any place or ideas as to where I can get information on walling off cars to get me started and a good idea what to do?

yeah your alt is maybe 80amps i been seeing, and thats and full output, at idle maybe like 35 or 40 ish. even under 1000 rms will put a good strain on your electrical, a beefy battery and big 3 should take care of that no problem. my friend is running 1500 rms in a honda station wagon and his alt is only an 85 amp one, he has a kinetik 1400 and no problems powering his sytem.
-
im running 1200 rms stock alt, duralast gold under the hood, and a red in the back. but my car already idles 600-700 rpm. when i upgraded to just the dg under the hood and big 3, before the second battery, i noticed a huge difference. voltage stayed better, and way more esponsive at recharging. id try to do a big 3 upgrade, see how that helps, then a bigger battery under the hood if need be. as far as your rpm dipping, if it does that with you car in park and stereo down all the way then i dont believe that has anything to do with your system.

Hell yeah man looks good. Yeah never thought about out that way, 2 separate and just common outside pieces. Not sure how you are at during material, but measure the shit out of everything, and when you cut the pieces, if you do it yourself, cut on the outside of the line to compensate for the cerf of the blade. But yeah looking good, and love to see some pics. Good luck.

As long as you have the 3.5 internal after subs displacement he said your fine. 32-36 hz tuning is good, doesn't need to be exact, you won't really notice 1 hz off, just a general range. And 13-14 inches port per cube he said is good. Dimension is based on what you can fit in your car. He told me my box was 4.0 ft before subs, 56 inches of port giving 14 per cube tuned to 30 hz. But the lower the better, I like lows lol. And my box was a single port to one side, not a center port. Not sure if that'd make a difference or just preference. I usually make/use single side ports because of the ease and less pieces.

Ok your port now is probably good, i only said a bit bigger as that's what I did. My friend works for a local audio shop and a box builder and he mainly works with jl, and he helped design mine. Port area helps to move more air, and cuts down port noise. You can have 100 inches of port or 10 and still be tuned the same, depth is what tunes your enclosure. So if you add a little more port area, you'd have to make the port deeper, port wall longer. I can get ahold of my friend and ask him volume, tuning and port area he'd recommend.
