  1. Hmm.. my manual is from 2014 and states on page 11, step 8... "Using included harness, connect DD-1 to output of amplifier. Connect the red harness lead to the Speaker (+) terminal, connect the black to Speaker (-) terminal." It detects the 40hz signal, and detects distortion when I turn the gain up too high... but just wanted to make sure it made 0 difference as the gain is a good bit higher then I previously had it set.
  2. Not sure if this has been covered... didn't find anything about it. In the manual, it specifies to use the black lead on the negative speaker output on the amplifier, red on the positive. This is how I used it however while watching some of Steve's videos, he places the negative lead on the amplifier ground, not the speaker -. Will this make a difference? Thanks
  3. lol... if only fundage allowed at the moment. We'll see how far this gets me... doing an 03' tahoe... not planning on 100% coverage... how far do you think this will get me? -Chris
  4. 2 bulk packs on the way... was hoping for shop packs... but what the heck... this should make a good start. Thanks guys! -Chris
  5. lol... Mine is a bit on the loose side so Ive gotta come up with somethin... I dont like the idea of an 80# projectile under the hood.. I'll prolly just cut some all thread and come up on both sides of the battery through the factory tray and secure it with wingnuts or something of that nature... we'll see. Thanks anyways man -Chris
  6. Hey Steve... not sure of the best way to get in contact w/ you... but Ive got a quick quesiton about this swap... I just installed my d3100 under the hood of my 03' and I'm trying to figure out what your using to actually hold the battery in the tray...? The factory rubber mount wont do anything and I didnt know if you had it strapped or what... I'm trying to figure out a permanent solution to the strap thats holding mine in at the moment. Thanks man! -Chris
  7. Lecrae's music beats it up... and whats even better is the fact that its not only good... but clean one of my favorites of his is probably "Go Hard" from the Rebel album... pounds pretty good -Chris
  8. Thats what I sai... I.. nvm. great build... keep the progress coming! -Chris
  9. Pretty slick man... You do impressive work. Now youve got me curious as to what 5/8 bolt got cut that could cause issues... ... Either way... great work! -Chris
  10. Well... here is the deal... Ive got plenty of box for them... right at 7.25^3ft each after displacements and they are tuned at 30hz w/ 200sq. inches of port so thats no problem... However, I'm currently pushing them with a 2kwrms amp and they hardly move... they get loud yes but as far as actual cone movement goes... hardly anything... so i'm leaning towards a power issue... plus I want to go bigger down the road and gettting another 2kw amp just doesnt make sence for that... If I go with the AQ3500.1 with good electrical, I should have room to grow and from what I'm seeing from others, 2k each shouldnt hurt these at all... I'm talking to some others so we'll see what I come up with.. As stated before, I dont plan on pounding the piss out of them day in and day out... but when the time comes to push them for a few minutes... I want to be able to push them HARD. -Chris
  11. Then I guess all the guys including steve who are pushing more then rms on their stuff are stupid aswell... dont be a tool. Simply put... at rms, they are hardly moving... they are in a properly sized box and are loud... but they have a lot left in them and I want to get everything I can out of them.. I want to get away from the Hifonics amp that Ive got now... I want an AQ3500.1 and wanted to know if it would be a good match... simple as that. There are MANY under rated drivers on the market that can handle substantial amounts of power over what they are rated for... so I wanted someone with experience with this specific driver to give input... Not a stupid question if you ask me... so why waste your time? As far as the people who actually gave me decent info... thanks.. the 3500.1 is what I'll be lookint at getting then. -Chris
  12. With proper electrical... can they handle more than that or would it cook them? -Chris
  13. Hey guys... Im running 2 RE Audio SX 18s (not the new SXx.. the older models SX) in my tahoe... right now they are in a 14.5^3ft. (net) enclosure tuned at 30hz.. The drivers are rated for 1krms each and I'm running them off an old Hifonics Brutus bxi2006d amp at 1ohm (2k rating.. probably more like 1800 or so if I had to guess...) and after several weeks... they are still somewhat tight Ive been looking around and some say NO MORE then 1500rms each... but then I see guys pushing them upwards of 3.5k each without issue.. With that being said... I dont play my stuff at full tilt very often... just to show off or for the local audio shop shows... etc..etc.. How much power (unclipped clean power that is..) can these handle in a daily driver? I was thinking about picking up an AQ3500.1 which would be 4200rms at 1ohm (2100 each) or would larger be better? As far as power supply goes... single d3100 under hood and soon to be twin 3400s in the rear with a 270amp mechman alt. and multiple runs of 2/0 cable + big 3 Just doing a bit of research at the moment to see what my choices are... wont be buying for a while but need to get an idea of what I'm gonna spend. Thanks guys -Chris
  14. Ive got ALL of you beat! Factory bose system in the hoe w/ 2 RE 18s Not sure what ratio that gives me... I think the stock bose system is a 9 speaker system but that includes the factory "woofers" I'll just say 9:2 for now. At full tilt... the bass kills the mids/highs... however while daily driving, ive got it dialed in to just give the factory system a nice hard thump... When I can afford it... that'll change.. but for the time being, it'll do. -Chris
  15. That is nuts man... and they sound so crisp and clean.... Nice build... keep up the good work!! -Chris
  16. Hey man... I had an 87 targa top a few months ago... the rear seats are pretty well useless... so I built a mid wall that was the same height of the rear seats and just deleted the seat all together... it wasnt quite finished in the above pics... but its an idea... this was 4 oz audio 10s on 1400rms and btw... if you are in the need of anything parts wise... drop me a pm... Ive got a TON of parts that need to go since I sold the car... turbo parts... wiring harnesses... interior pieces... etc... Anyways.. goodluck with the build! -Chris
  17. Hmm... Here are my measurements... The box is 49" wide... port is 26.5" wide... leaving me 11.25" on both sides of the port to work with.. I was thinking width above but its length that I'm worried about... I would be turning the batteries sideways and running them on both sides of the port.. So.. its looking like a single 3100 under the hood and twin 3400s or 6500s(if I can squeeze them in) in the back... should give me plenty of room to grow. Thanks for the advice -Chris
  18. Well... I wanted to run atleast 2 bats in the back... so would 2 d3100s be best? I guess I can run them turned on their sides and fit them... just didnt know if there was a better choice that would fit right side up.. So... could I run a single d3100 up front and maybe two slightly smaller bats in the back... something 11.25" long or shorter? Let me know what you think -Chris
  19. a d3100 wont fit in the back... its too wide... the d3100 is 12.5+" wide and Ive only got 11.25" to work with... however I can run 2 batteries of that size... -Chris
  20. Hey guys... I just finished building a new setup for my 03 tahoe and need advice on powering it properly... Currently, I'm running around 1800rms @ 1ohm to 2 re audio 18s... Charging system is currently stock... 140amp alt. and ac delco battery under the hood... At full tilt, the volt gauge drops hard and fast to under 12v so I shut it down quick to keep from killing the alt. and battery... I plan on picking up a dc or mechman 200+ amp alt in the near future and need to know what batteries I can run in the back of the truck to support the future amp (which will be in the neighborhood of 3-4kwrms @ 1ohm) Ive got ~11.25"w on both sides of the port at the back of my box for battery mounting... plus quite a bit of room under the hood... not sure how big I can go in the stock tray... So.. what would you suggest? I like to play it at idle sometimes at full tilt for short lengths to show off and what not... or while sitting around in parking lots with other people... so on... but mostly it doesnt get hammered on unless driving. Thanks -Chris
  21. hmmm... well I think Ive got what I want to do figured out... Price of 8" pvc is nuts around here and somewhat hard to find... so will most likely have to go with a slot port instead which is no big deal... I'll post up a build thread before too long... hopefully will get to start on the box tomorrow if the weather is cooperative. I may make changeable ports... just to dial in how I want it to sound.. we'll see. Thanks for the input guys! -Chris
