I put the ring on and then heat both the ring and I aim the torch at the wire in the center, heats everything up.

You can find solder at just about any home depot/osh/other hardware supply store.

Rosin core solder. Flux is unnecessary. Better than crimping because it's stronger, and muuch better looking. Doing it's pretty simple. Use an acetylene torch (or propane, pretty much anything that'll heat it up). Insert the ring terminal over the wire, and heat both the wire and the ring terminal fairly evenly to ensure proper solder penetration. The metal should be hot enough to melt the solder. Use the hot wire/ring terminal to melt the solder, not the flame itself. Fill the terminal until the solder starts to pool on top, and then try and get it to have a smooth top. To help with this I normally leave a real small gap between the end of the wire and the top of the terminal, so that no part of the wire is sticking out. Grind off any excess. Remember to put on the rubber ring terminal cover before hand, so you can slide it back over the ring terminal easily.

Eh, it depends on what you want. The Kicker's might get louder, but not in a sealed box, only in a ported. The Alpine's IMO are a better all-around woofer, and will sound good in sealed boxes as well. Up to you. Those Soundstreams I showed you would work wonders as well.

Um, alpine type r's are pretty cheap, they sound real good too. $120 each. I'd run a bxi 1205 to two of them. (get the dual 4 ohm models if you get 2 subs)

Shake other windows? That's not exactly easy to do...but that would be a realll nice amount of bass. It'd slam real hard don't worry about it.

someone lied to you. theres is no way in hell sealed will hit harder than ported, ESPECIALLY with solo baric subs. If you're going sealed, don't use kicker. Buy a power acousik a2400db or hifonics bxi2005 and two Fi Q 12's (www.ficaraudio.com). That will be cheaper than what youre looking at, and sound muuch better.

First off, prefab boxes suck. And second, you can find those subs muuch cheaper at another site, like www.etronics.com. Sonic doesnt offer that great of discounts on kicker gear. And lastly, kicker's l5's and l7's suck in sealed boxes, you should really consider a ported box

So for the design aspect, would you essentially design two ported boxes, one tuned at 30 and one at 60? I'm guessing it has to be more complicated than that to get a flat response curve...

Most bass that you hear in songs starts at 40 hz or so, it's hard to find songs that go any lower than that. Which is why most sub manufacturers recommend a tuning of around 39 hz. (at least, theyre "recommended box plans" are nearly always tuned to 39 hz)

These stores have to charge that much, if they want to make any money. It's not cheap running a huge store with a lot of employees, they have to mark up the prices. Yes, the customers are naive, but its pointless trying to go tell people how they could have saved money by shopping elsewhere. And nismo, I'm not sure why you put Visonik with brands like RE and Fi. It's a good thing if people haven't heard of visonik.

agreed kenwoods a good company. I've had or installed 4 or 5 of their amps, and they're all real reliable. I also ran a head unit from them, also worked nicely.

Can we get an update on when this build is expected to get started? Can't wait to see this...
