7.5:1 4th order 5 15s? Hhhhmm... Let's talk
theory1230 replied to zfrerichs's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
What kind of drivers? Weird design my designs are most of the time like 40 60 or 50 50. With about 20 sqin of vent per cube I like a curve with a nice plato. I use drivers with a EBP rating of 70 or less work best .EBP is fs/qes. -

Its a good start for a beginner bro no shit they don't all sound good like that. But it would be a good point to start with. And then he can fine tune it on your calc or winisd -
subwoofer enclosure formulas.

Its not rocket science. Download winisd it a free windows based box design program. If you want a simple formula for ported boxes just do 12 sq in of port for every cubic foot 24 inches long it will tune you right between 32 and 34 Hz every time -
4th or slot vented enclosure question
theory1230 replied to Mr15s's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Ok its mad easy do 1.75 sealed plus driver displacement 2 ft3 on the ported side with a 40 sq in vent 11 inch long ad for port depending on how much of it is in the box. I like to build it the classic three chamber way. I have not tried it in a non trunk vehicle I would like to no what it dose. I have used all brands in this design no one has ben disappointed -

4th or slot vented enclosure question
theory1230 replied to Mr15s's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Yo I got a sick design for two 12's. What kind of car? I do it in challenger, camaro's and s550 it bang's nasty and gets super low. Hit me up I would be glad to help. NO TRUNK NOISE -
I have a accord wagon with a prototype 15 on a JBL bpx2200.1. With the sub up and vent to the pass side. I have had the best results this way. Loudest and best sounding thing I have had on my amp to date
-
I would do a 38 sq in vent 23 inch long. That would put u right 34hz with your current dimensions. Also make some brackets to space your back rest out about two inches or so at the top and take out any insulation between the back seat and the trunk and use allot of sound deadening on the side walls and trunk lid.

Sub box

I would use two precision ports 4 inch by 10 inch long one on each side of the enclosure firing toward each corner. I like to tune enclosures in regular cab trucks around 37 to 40 hz. I have found that to give the best results. A small truck cab is not large enough to reproduce super low frequency's any way . Make sure to use a sub sonic filter to protect your subs -

I would use a 4 inch vent from precision sound products. You can calculate the length at psp.com
