Here is the deal, I want a little bit of bass in the vehicle I'm thinking of getting in the near future and need a little help. I by no means want anything that is going to go to sound competitions or anything just something to add a little bass. The vehicle will be a mercury mountaineer (ford explorer) and I will want to upgrade the stock speakers with some components hooked to a 4 channel amp and than a sub in the rear (custom fit into the rear panel where the stock sub is located) hooked to a rockford fosgate p550.2 (I have it brand new and can't get rid of it so I might as well hang onto it.) My question is this, that amp puts out I think, over 600 rms on the birth sheet which I won't need as the sub I'm looking at is only 450rms but I'll keep the gain way down. Also the 4 channel amp I'll get will be rated I'd imagine at or near 50 rms/ channel hooked to some mb quarts so total there is probably 200 rms. So total I'll be looking at say 600 to say 900 rms. If I upgrade just the big 3 should my electrical system be alright? Sorry for the novel here but I'm curious because I want to keep this as stock as possible. If the big 3 weren't enough would I be able to just add a h/o alt? I always thought that the rule of thumb was 1000watts rms before your electrical system needs anything but I've been mislead as even 300 watts rms has made lights dim...Thanks and sorry again for the novel...

Man honestly I was looking for the newer 99 and up grand cherokee's here in Michigan and I'm finding them for 5k or right near that with less than 100k miles. To me that is WAY too much to pay. I don't know about 2-3k for the same one but for some reason the newer body style go pretty cheap. I hate chrysler so you'd be hard pressed to get me in one...I installed some car audio (head unit with swix to retain steering wheel controls, and tweeters as they always go bad in the jeeps for some reason) in my in-laws neighbors car and was somewhat interested in them because I knew how to do everything to them now and the price is nice...Truthfully though I'm looking at spending about 8-10k on a 2002 and up mercury mountaineer with less than 90k miles...to each his own I guess...if your looking for quickness I'd probably go for that but if your just looking for a winter ride be a little more open...there are deals out and about...what area are you from? Have you ever thought about traveling a few hours or few miles? Hey arron big difference is that the limiteds go for more...notice the crappy gray plastic instead of the all paint on the one he posted?

Yeah I know thats why I put hypothetical! Hopefully you can get your hands on some more! To tell you the truth I'm assuming a buss bar is what meade's put on the outside of boxes to mount the power cables to? I'm not used to all these high powered systems everyone has on here...dang I never wanted to let it be known I'm too much of a newbie...oh well!

How man runs would I need for at the most rms being 6k and no more than that? I was told 2-1/0 runs...but what could I get away with, with that stuff? I won't need it til January/February-ish....if you don't mind hypothetically letting me know how much 50' of the 2/0 or whatever you think I'd need either 2/0 or 4/0 at 50' would be shipped to 48328 near Auburn Hills Michigan. Thanks! That stuff weighs nearly a pound a food doesn't it! How small of a circle can you make that stuff? Probably not too small eh!?

Paypal nor ebay protects you. In some cases it does but more often than not there are many people that have been screwed on there. They do not care when it comes down to it. If they did care everyone would be happy and the world of internet sales would be perfectly flawless, but that isn't the case. Well I guess there's a difference between caring and caring enough to do something about someone stealing your hard earned dollar! So I guess if you look at it that way they care...to a certain extent! Oh yeah almost forgot they really care when there money isn't coming directly out of your bank account and into theirs they really do care...other than that what do they care?

Those escalade's must have some monster doors on them! Shoot gonna have to put some stronger hinges to hang on to the door! Perhaps some hydraulics to open and shut them too!

That sucks...the worst part about ebay and paypal is once the money is received what do they care? Oh they don't! My father-in law got screwed a few times and has hated both ebay and paypal the whole time. I got screwed a few times for posting an antique tractor on ebay and had 2 different people buy it now and cancel their ebay accounts...ebay charged me to relist! Quick question are alpine amps that nice? I was tinkering with a smaller like 400-500 rms amp and wasn't super impressed by it...are the nicer class d better...apparently! Nobody like hifonics?

Seems like a pretty good deal...how old or long as he been using them? 4 x 110=440 amp around $330 box no more than 100 bucks to build and carpet. Your looking at $870 plus a little work building a box for all the stuff brand new except a better amp. Personally I don't like power acoustik amps. I had a 1920 watt monster and was utterly disappointed with its weak power output. The rms was supposed to be 440x2 at 2 ohms I think and it didn't sound all too convincing hooked to 2 kicker cvr 12's. I've also heard people recommend them but to me a hifonics 2006d would be better. I'd go with the new stuff and if you didn't like hifonics you could get a power acoustik really cheap like a sl3400d for under $300. I'd pass on the used stuff if I was in your position. If he were to give you that package for say $500 I'd ponder it but I don't like power acoustik so I more than likely would still pass...Would he sell it to you for $500 or is it the $700?

The kickers are nice...heard 2 15's hooked to a directed 1200 watt amp it sounded really good. But he paid like 400-500 for the amp alone. Heard 2 15's in a 05' durango with a brutus amp sounded really good as well. Price is right for them too. I'd personally hook up a hifonics up to them as the price on those amps are pretty low and they sound good mated to the kicker lineup...at least from every setup I've heard with them....keep in mind those subs handle 500rms whether the box is sealed or ported. BTW you should be able to find the cvr15 for around 110-120/sub...depending on how many you want you should be able to get a bxi2006d for a little over $300. Make sure if your going for 4 subs get the 2ohm dvc's to show 1ohm at amp. That's what I'd do in that position...although I wouldn't want 4 15's in any one of my cars though...

I've installed a couple of the phase linear uv8s and a jensen vm9312 and I was shocked by both of them. I've been skeptical of the flip outs since they came out years ago but i'd put one in my car! The uv8 is a nice unit is has subs adjustment and phase control and all of that. You can easily make it play dvds while driving not that you'd want to do that because it is illegal and dangerous but you can do it! Let me know if you need help with that. I hate dual but I don't mind jensen. I am repping these though for the price range...if you can spare a few bucks I'd go pioneer but as I said from the one's I've installed and messed with I was shocked by the quality and how nice they are.

Technically you ordered a 06' bxi1606d not a 07bxi1606d...I'd take it to ebay and tell them...or perhaps paypal if you used them...the item received isn't the item you ordered! I'd tell them thats what you will do if they won't help you out...its their screw up not yours...especially when you knew it was an older one and thats what you needed...wonder why they even care? Let them know too you tried to take a loss on it and couldn't even get rid of it...good luck! You like that amp otherwise as you already have the older one? I'm thinking about either putting 2 of those with 2 hifonics olympus's in my ford escape but not for sure yet...I'm bouncing between ma audio and hifonics stuff...decisions...decisions...decisions????

Hey guys I found this site on yahoo answers when I was trying to answer peoples questions and someone linked some videos of Mr. Meade's tahoe . I eventually found your personal builds on your owns cars but never realized this was a forum til a few days ago I was checking out some realmofexcursions videos and came across the forum section...anyways I haven't really ever done anything that compares whatsoever to anything on here but I'd like to try it soon!
