  1. ok, sorry about the power. My brain misfired somewhere between the info for them and this site. Also talked to the boy that has them. We are going to wire them up to a little higher load on the amp. Last box i figured, i went with 38hz tuning. Thanks for the input and putting up with me. lol If it don't rain this weekend i'll hopefully start on it. If i do i'll try to get up some pics.
  2. Well daily they probably won't see that much, but if they did see the 3000, then whats wrong with that? The rms of them is 750, and he'll be running 4 of them. The car is a honda del sol that has been cut. The max outside dimensions i can go for the face of the box is 11 by 35 3/4. Depth around 25, but no more than 28.
  3. 4 DD 1508's and around 3-4000 watts. I'll have know problem building the box, but port area is struggle for the space i have to work with. If all else fails i may be able to do a little different set up with the face of the box. I'd say with that much power it just ain't gonna work the way it is right now.
  4. I know the general rules bounce between 12-16 square inches per cubic ft. My problem is an enclosure someone is wanting me to build is 3.5 cubic feet before adding displacements. And my problems lies is the way it would have to be built i cannot get over 30 or so maybe only high 20's in the square inch department. Would i be able to hear a lot of port noise from this?
  5. Fs is not the only factor to look at when determining a subwoofer's low end extension capabilities.
  6. alright, thanks a bunch. I was just playing with some ideas. But knowing how to calculate will be really handy. THanks
  7. i wasn't real sure. If so thats dandy. What if only one side is flared?
  8. ok, so anyone have any input on calculating the tuning of the flare port, do you count the flare or just everything from behind it for tuning?
  9. 163,971, good way to start off the New Year. Keep up the good work, i know this site will continue to grow over time. With people like Steve and others on this board, people like me get inspiration and motivation to bring there systems to a new level.
  10. OK, so plans have changed and he's sticking with the equipment he has right now, just going with a different box. We'll be building in two weeks and all kinds of ideas have whizzed through my brain. The one design that is sticking is pictured below. The curves go through the opening of the tunnel. Opening would actually probably be wider. Would i be better of to have the sub over the port?
  11. Nah the curve is no problem, kerf cuts FTW. Calculating tuning, what do you do about the flare? Do you account for it or use everything from the back of the flare back.
  12. I've looked at it and the Honda build with the "Squaro" port and can't find what to do about the opening flare of the port. Where it splits in the rear is no big deal really, just wondering what you do about the "throat" of the port. But thanks.
  13. OK, thought i didn't need to ask. But when calculating tuning of a flared port, do you count the flair part or not, length wise.
  14. Thanks. Now building it will be my big downfall. If the boy decides he wants to build it it'll probably be early spring late winter. Hell i might build it just to see how it sounds then sell it to someone.
  15. Tuning, I'm still researching but I think I've started to grasp the flair and how to accommodate for it when tuning a little better
  16. OK, so i just came up with a design for a possible future box for one of my buddy's. The sketches aren't exactly perfectly dimensional by any means but you get the jist. What are your guys opinions on doing an enclosure like this?
  17. ok, yeah i know i should search but what would be the best way to go about putting together an enclosure in the trunk?
  18. Anyone ever used pocket holes to build a box say inside the trunk or in a wall where you can't screw the screws from the outside?
  19. nah, i was gonna pick up an amp or a couple after i bought the subs
  20. they have a 2000 rms though, i want something i can beat on daily and not have to turn it down all the time.
  21. more than 2 grand piece for the 12's? dunno about that
