Well the stakes are a lot higher if he were to make a mistake with a bigger system rather than the smaller system. jumping to 5kw is a huge leap; especially for a novice. I'm saying that maybe it would be a good idea to have a system to learn off of. if he were to make a mistake it wouldn't cost him thousands. my argument stands. it's better to carefully plan out your system than to buy it off of impulse.

Maybe you should start off a little smaller... it's gonna cost thousands to completely upgrade your system. 5000 watt amp - then subs that can handle 5000 watts - then the electrical upgrades to support the 5kw amp - multiple runs of zero gauge wire - then upgraded speakers to keep up with the subs - then an amp to power those speakers - DD-1 to tune the whole thing - and a new box for the subs. maybe start out with something you could work with on stock electrical. like a couple of VVX 12's on the sundown 1.5k or whatever package that was.

what vehicle is this for? if you can fit a single larger sub, you've got more options

there's the sundown E series. would pry be about 200 for a pair of 12's.

what's the impedance of the voice coils?

i would consider a 2 way crossover personally. i suppose that would work. you'd need 2. one for each set/channel.

excellent subs. can't go wrong with them. their amps are nice too.

you could 6 8 ohms speakers, and two tweets. wire them in series/parallel to 8 ohms. or go with 4 speakers, 4 tweets. you're gonna need a crossover for the tweets though.

Look into a cheap, stereo receiver. it'll be 8 ohm stable but better

what's the minimum impedance of that amp?

the gain setting method without a DD-1/oscope is not ideal but i suppose it will have to do.

If you can get about 38-40 inches of width, then it's doable. if you can only spare 36 inches.. it's gonna be a tight fit. like stated before go take some for sure measurements. that would help us out greatly.

a couple of SP4 15's ported sealed off from the trunk. it would be a tight squeeze, but i could probably pull something off for you. would get stupid low too. but yeah i think you could just do a couple of beastly 12's and still get really loud. like i said, feel free to hit me up for a design

don't face the subs up in a trunk. it rattles the shit out of the trunk lid and isn't very loud in the cabin. if you've got about 8 cubes before displacements, i'd say do a couple of 15's firing into the cabin.

what vehicle do you have? i can design you a ported enclosure. assembly isn't much diff from sealed. here's one i designed a while ago. i'll give you plenty of pictures and hell even the 3d model if you want just to make sure you know how it goes together. could save you money on equip because it gets louder with less sub anyways shoot me a PM anytime and i'd be glad to help you out.
