  1. I apologize if there has already been an SPM thread but figured I'd share this song because on my headphones it sounds like it'd slam (car is fucked up can't test myself atm) Edit - Some videos of demos would be cool
  2. Got a reply today concerning my order. I ordered a subwoofer and amplifier back on like May 18th or something and was told today that my sub would be built sometime next week and my amp will be shipped July 25th-28th. From the way it was worded I reckon I'll be receiving the two separately but I'm just happy to have a loose deadline on my products and hopefully this will narrow it down for y'all too.
  3. Well, this IS NOT the first time there has been an issue waiting for parts. End of last summer, delay getting subs out due to waiting on parts. And to say this is not DC's fault is BS. They chose the build house, they chose the shipping company. I'm not a competitor, but when the company already has my money, it gets kind of annoying to keep being told about delays and such. I love me some DC, but this can't keep happening. Boxxy is my queen, the bacon shall never go un-loved.
  4. When I ordered my products from DC I was told a 6 week back order, it's been about 7 weeks now which is shorter than what some people have been waiting for. I have been very anxious to start on my first actual build but I'm at least mature enough to accept the following reality. **I'm not complaining though; and to the people who are serious and into competitions and actually have real plans I can understand your frustration.** But to those who are bitching just because they can, do you think the people up at DC are just being slack so their phones and emails can pile up with complaints? They are doing everything possible to keep business running smoothly and to keep their customers happy. If you ran a business and unplanned delays/problems occurred, you'd want some understanding customers as well. All I have ever heard about DC was the quality of their products and customer service, now just because things have gotten slow (which apparently wasn't even DC's fault) people are talking about taking their money elsewhere. Coming from someone in YOUR POSITION, yea it fucking sucks having to wait but talking bad about a company that is working their ass off to keep you happy won't help anybody. Stfu and you'll get your shit when it gets there. TL:DR - You know DC has always been very great with their customer service and you can't stick them for this one slow-down, especially with the way things are going now-a-days. Waiting an extra while won't hurt because most of you personally know DC is worth it or you wouldn't be reading this.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04dffrRg0lw The version they were playing in your original post sounds slowed, great song either way.
  6. Alright well thank you and everyone else for their input. 32hz slot port it is!
  7. 32hz is what my box is tuned to for my Fi Q15 and I would not tune it ANY lower personally. You will start to lose a lot of output on the higher bass notes. Me and some friends enjoy the low notes but everyone else I know likes the party/crunk songs that usually have fast beats and high notes so I guess 32hz would be a happy medium for me and my un-sober passengers.
  8. ^ this? 32hz will still dig down low and still pick up mid 40s to 50s also Meh I was just wanting to see what a low tuned system would do. My current system made someone bail out *he was a bitch though* on the first low note playing a slowed version of Gucci Mane/Juiceman - I Cook and its a entry level system in a prefab box tuned to around 35hz. Seeing what I have pushing lows that hard just peaked my interests in the low-end. Anyone can get loud on higher notes, I just love moving air hahaha. However, if 32hz will do great lows I guess I'll stick to my slot to save money and hassle.
  9. I was going to make a slot port box for my 15" DC XL but the lowest I can tune to is around 32-33hz after displacement and all. I would like to go lower to around 28-29hz but I can't find a way to do it with aeroports. The biggest box dimensions I can do is 18" tall, 34" wide, and 22" deep. When using the box calculator I find that my box is not deep enough to get a low enough tuning unless I use *for example* a 6" port at around 12" long. I do not know how much port area I need when using aeroports or pretty much anything about them but I bet a single 6" port would be shitty, I could be completely wrong though. If someone could figure out a way I can use them with my box size please enlighten me!
  10. So I've been trying to get in contact with DC audio since around May 30th when I sent my Email to their sales department. It has not been replied to and they usually reply within two days. I have also tried calling their number that is on their site for the past 3 days and using 3 different phones to do so and no one ever answers. Are they just extremely busy building or on vacation?
  11. Id like to get banned if i do this again.
  12. Thanks to everyone who replied. I looked at your suggestion Ricky and I re-did my design to 1.90 port volume at 30.51hz. This new design should work better for both slowed and regular music. Thanks again
  13. I can probably increase the depth but nothing else, it's going in a small ass trunk. I'm tuning to 27hz because I want some major lows. Would tuning to 27hz possibly damage the subs if I am playing regular music instead of slowed stuff? If tuning a little higher is better for daily I will. Trying to keepitlow though
  14. god damnit last time i posted this same topic everyone ignored my questions and talked about my backgrounds!!!! How can I have "more port" and keep the same tuning?
  15. I have a XL 15" on order and I'm trying to get my shit together so I can have my box done when the amp/sub arrives. I want to tune low (27-28hz) and currently have a rough plan made in the box tuning calculator. This is my first time making a box and would love some feedback and help to hone in a 'perfect' box rather than me throwing one randomly together. My main concerns are is the box big enough to get the most out of lows, is my port big enough to avoid cancellation/port noise, and finally is there any rookie mistakes I've made? Ask questions if it will help get a better response! Thanks
  16. I always pulled into work wangin my two 12" kicker comps (prefab box w/ kicker 300 watt amp lolool) and one day some coworkers were like dang you rattling the windows and shit blah blah. I gave about 3 guys a demo, two of them were like damnnn that shit is loud as fuck and the 3rd actually bailed out after like 6 seconds of Gucci Mane - I Cook slowed and said "oh hell naw my face was moving". Anyway, my boss heard all the commotion and called me in his office on break and asked me if I would cut my box in half cause he only wants one sub.. First off that's fucking retarded and then he continued to tell me how he had some car with four 10" subs that did over 190db and blew the back glass and window seal clean off the car. I called bullshit and that the world record was under 185db and all that stuff and he told me that to be 'official' there is a lot of guidelines and that there is tons of people doing over 190db but just cant qualify or fit the requirements... I didn't want to actually argue with my boss and to be honest I don't know that much about the topic but I am 99.9% sure he is full of shit, someone clarify plz.
  17. When I brace my box horizontally, given my port will be on the left hand side of the box, do I just run a piece of bracing from the middle of my right hand side to the middle of the port then do a vertical bracing? Or what is the best way to brace a box? Also, I saw in a 45 degree angle thread that you need to check your widths and stuff to make sure your port stays the same width after cornering the box or something? Can someone explain that part of the process for me? Thanks
  18. Yea... I used to put paper cups in my ass and fart and try to make hz tones but I always failed.
  19. http://boards.4chan.org/wg/res/4124312 That pic and tons like it are in this thread, hurry before it 404's!
  20. So having a tuning around 28hz won't damage anything if I play music daily on full volume? I don't want to damage anything on purpose!! And quit askin about my background and answer my damn questions LOL! If you must know.. I got it at http://boards.4chan.org/wg/ That site is full of 18+ shit so don't view around your kids or at work, and also some illegal shit so if you're a moral person don't even try it. I believe my current stock alt is 60 amps, at what RMS wattage level should I invest in a HO alt or can I run 1-2 extra batteries off stock alt?
  21. who told you 6 weeks back order? ive got a XL 18" paid for and im hearing about 2 weeks til the parts are in I called the number on the DC Audio website and was talking to Rob, he said 6 week back order because they are waiting on parts. More people probably buy 15"s than the 18"s I'm guessing.
  22. Yea I noticed she had some leg hair like 2-3 days after I applied it to my background but I'm the only one that comes into my room (FOREVER ALONE) so I don't really care hahaha. And yea it's only going to get 1200-1500 watts because I asked someone at a respectable company if they could outfit my small ass car with a HO Alt and he said if I stay under 1500 watts I'd be fine with just an extra battery and to forget an HO alt. That's why I'm staying under 1500 watts... As far as bracing goes, what is the easiest way to do so? This is my very first build so I'm looking for all the info I can get. Also, what's the hatin on my tuning for hahaha. If I tune to around 28hz could I damage the sub playing higher notes on music and what not, or does it just hurt the output severely on higher notes?
  23. Finally put in an order for my well-needed 15" XL!!!! 6 week back order atm but I know the wait is well worth it.. I have a couple of questions so I can get to work on the box, I will attach a screenshot of my current plan and would love to get feedback on how yall feel or what you would personally do. This is going in a 4 seat sedan in the trunk and tuned anywhere from 28-31hz if the info helps. The sub will be receiving 1200-1500 watts rms so should I upgrade to 1" thick wood or is 3/4" fine? Also, how can you determine if your box design will end up with port noise? As you can see below my port will be 16.5" tall, 3" wide, and 40" in length (length might change). *Outer dimensions are almost as big as I can go*
  24. Pay some teenager to sit in the bushes and call you if he sees something, curb stomp their fucking face in and steal all their wallets. Since cops aren't doing shit (whats new) take it into your own hands or keep being victimized. We don't have stupid shit like that happen on the east coast cause we handle business. I wish you luck though, invest in a concealed carry if Cali allows it.
  25. gain is on 1/10. You must have a huge ass amp rated way more rms than your subs if it's on 1/10 gain and your subs are smelling. I keep my gain set on around 7/10 and mine do fine. Subs get hot but haven't had any problems yet.
