  1. A lot of the burp systems need to "roll into it" because of being wired so low (.33,.25, and lower). The box rise helps with this and the amps end up seeing a little or a lot higher ohm load than what is metered at rest. If I play one note lower on my burp box I have to roll very slowly into it or the amp goes into protect. In the end, if you are serious about knowing the how's and why's, you need to invest in a clamp meter, 2 or more multimeters and a TL. That way you can understand and "see" what happens on each box, port, modification change you make.
  2. Ill be there in PS 0-600 with a small points getter. 4 10s on a D5 @.5 ohm juiced by 2 XS Power 16v. Hope to see at least one or two of y'all out there.
  3. Have you metered the rca outs to see at what volume they go past 4v? Can you test the head on another amp? Id like to know what voltage you are getting at 18 of 62. 99% sure its nowhere near 5 or even 4 volts. Gonna say 1 volt or even less.
  4. As far as the fear of high HU voltage goes....I wouldn't worry about it unless you are runnning it full out all the time. Such as an example of 34/35 35/35 for an Alpine on volume. The headunits I have tested only produce the rated voltage at the last one or two clicks. So I would guess that the un boosted output of your 5v out hd would only be over four volts at the last 8 or 10 clicks. ( depending on what the max number is....60 on the pioneers I'm referring to.) As others have said...this points to other reasons for your problems. Just take your time and test everything piece by piece and you'll find it.
  5. USACi superstock 0-600. 1 D5 @.33 on 2 xs D1000s no alt powering 6 lvl 3/4 10s. 157.2. Same set up with 4 10s @.5. 155.
  6. So you have each 10 in 1.5ft3? If so, that's way to big. You might wanna start at around .8 with 16in2 of port and work from there. I tested 2 lvl 3/4 10s on a D5 at .25 with little heat issues. I ran into mech max but not thermal. What vehicle are they in? You can see what size port I ran on 4 this weekend in Houston
  7. Thanks Matt. I just took some pics tonight and should load them up soon. The Austin Heatwave is 7/23.-24
  8. Just got in about an hour ago from the trip to Houston. Thought id post my results from the show. I took a little points chaser set up (4 lvl3/4 10s on a D5 w/2 16v XSpower D1000s). First run was in my normal class...0-600 superstock. I had everything set up and when i rolled up the volume i saw 154.7....i knew it shouldve been a lil louder. I checked the mic and it moved facing it 180 degrees from where i set it. Grrrrr.. I reset the mic for the second run in super modified (just for points) and put up a 55 even. Not too bad. The other scores were not that great overall, so i kinda just paid for points. Anyway....just wanted to say i repped DC in the lanes and put 2 more W's up for the cause. Next show is Texas Heatwave Austin in July (regional event). Thanks Rusty...and Rob for your time and advice.
  9. Got my first show of the season coming up on the 29th, so im headin in to the shop for a bit of new box testing. Last time i tested was at USACi finals. I did a 157.2 at finals at a shockingly low 50hz and it was only a tenth or 2 lower at 49hz. From my earlier notes that was just waaaay too low. I didnt even find that out till 45 min before my time slot. Soooo....i built a new box to find out if there is the potential in my system that i think there is. I shall post results of tomorrows activities later in the day...prolly around 10 or 11. For this round of testing, 58 and a little more is the goal. We will see how it pans out.
  10. The best thing you can do is just take notes at every show. Best freq for each of your 2 runs. Just make sure you have a mental checklist of things that you need to check and things you need to do to make your best possible score. Dont change too many things during each run. Maybe just pick 1 or 2 freqs that you think are the best and give them a full run on a full charge. Then make notes of what you did....dont guess. Im sure this is very basic stuff...but its very important. My buddy put the mic on the wrong side of his car and couldnt figure out why he lost 3 dB till the next day, and hes been doing this since 98. Ive forgotten to turn on my remote wire....moron..(more than once). I hope to see your #s increase as the season goes on. If i can help in any way....just ask.
  11. Well then, if all goes well....i shall see you there. Ive gotta get points for finals. Houston is stop # 2.
  12. Just a question and observation. Did you do anything different during your two runs? The wave for your port run looks good but the outlaw wave looks terrible. It looks as if you didnt have a solid tone long enough to pressure properly. Could that have been part of the problem with the lower score? I do know weather can affect your score...buuut..with it going in 2 different directions on 2 different runs....thats a bit weird. Im not pickin on you, just wanna help if i can. Other than that, you know how i feel about anybody puttin their build in the lanes....respect. Congrats on your 2 1sts.
