    Hair tricks are complicated dude, you could get someones system that is doing a hair trick and put the exact same set up in your car and you might not do a hair trick. But there definately are not "a lot" of single sub set ups doing hair tricks man. And most people doing hair tricks are running much much more power than 600-2k

    Some shops have an o-scope so you need to look for someone that sets gains with an o-scope. And the dd-1 is a tool the Steve Meade just launched that sets your gains perfectly! Look it up, it's the best option and price

    Yeah man that's what clipping does, it causes heat which is never good when it comes to moving parts! You can blow a sub off of 200 clipped watts, so you really need to make sure everything is set correctly

    That is not true, it's a common rumor, but even nick and Jacob themselves said you don't have to have a break in period, they will just start to sound better as they get broken in. That is NOT why your sub smoked! Disregard that comment lol

    So turn your gain down just a tiny bit and see if it still works. Just cause it smoked doesn't always mean it's blown, but it's never good

    yah by ear, i told the stereo place i had it set just under half and they said it would be fine as long as i didnt crank it up or turn the bass boost up. and i dont know any other way to set them. how could i tell if i was clipping? Well if your OA smoked on 600watts it's almost a sure thing you were clipping some way. Unless you got a faulty sub im sure you would have known that a long time ago since you've already had it for a month

    Well we can't really say that were your gains are set isn't clipping, and you could have been clipping on your head unit as well. How dis you set your gains? Just by ear?

    Yeah man particle board is not something I would ever use to build a box lol. MDF or birch! And you may need more than 3 sheets. And if you wall it I'd brace the outside of the box with 2x4's or to be efficient 2x6's. And have someone like ray, or ram design the box. But as we all know the box is the most important thing, don't half ass it.

    Maybe you had it tuned way wrong or there were leaks. But I think a wall should be your loudest option, if done right Ive done a wall before in this car and couldnt get it to sound good at all. almost felt like it was free air rather then in a wall.. im not sure if i tuned it wrong or if i made it too big
