LED vs DD-1
kam311 replied to bassahaulic's topic in Member Videos - Host 'em & Post 'em! System Vids / Off Topic
Are you trying to say that using LED's can detect distortion? I don't get the point I guess lol -
hmmmmm
kam311 replied to howelr's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
What is your usuable airspace? That'd help greatly -
Or you can just buy 2 more subs and them slap that 2.5k on them =D do it pat!!!!!! Haha
-
Your asking a lot from a 600w driver pat! Bit if you have your gains set perfectly you can do it, but it just takes some user knowledge and paying attention. Is it highly suggested tho? No! Lol and if they did take 1.2k it wouldn't be for all day

Eh, I dont think you can say you'd get better sound quality from the skar. It's really going to depend on the box you make. But both these dubs murder the lows, from what I've been seeing the Skars might even like to play a tiny bit lower. But honestly either sub will rock your shit just fine my friend. And about the kicker and jl nuthuggers, they swear by their shit but I promise 99% arnt as loud as the average person on this site who has spent much less money. And most those homos go and put their shit in some prefab box which shows just how much they don't know about this game. The box is where its at

I love sundown stuff, I have a pair of obsidian audio and I really love them for daily. There are plenty of good subs in the price range, but personally I wouldn't go with the newer RE stuff. But there are a lot of quality subs coming out these days

kam311 replied to tonytone4143's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Yes. People get in the 150's with a single 10. Will you be able to do it? I don't know -
Thats what I was thinking... And then get some pro advice from the king of trunk cars, lilboom himself haha. Off to a good start here I feel
-
Your electrical has nothing to do with the amount of subs lol, 2400 watts is plenty for a nice dual set up
-
Sundown nightshade, FI BTL Those are probably the first two I would look at. But im a fan of dual sub set ups I must say, if you have the room.
-
im not a box designer but if i were you id aim towards 2.25ft^3 instead of 2

I was going to once but then I hear that u wouldn't b able to play online cuz if u do then Microsoft can c that u modded ur cd drive and they ban u from xbox live so I didn't wanna risk that. And I never have done it. But there's a first for everything! Haha You are right, Microsoft bans your xbox within a few hours of signing on. A modded xbox is called a "j-tag" and there is a way to play online by changing your kv code, bit it's not worth all the time you waste to do it because you can only play for an hour or so if you sign on.

You don't need to see the voltage because it probably would mean anything to you, all you need to know is that your amp and HU are matched up. Even the tools to set gains don't show you the numbers, you basically set them by the shape of the soundwaves, an o-scope shows you those waves so you set them visually according. And the dd-1 does the same thing but instead of showing you the actual wave on a screen, a light just turns on at the clipping point so you know. And yes iPods and mp3's can be clipping, anything can be! Even a song itself can have clipped bass. If you listen to an iPod all the time in your system set the gains according to your iPod, simple as that. As far as music goes try to always download the best quality of music possible. An if you are getting bass boosted stuff make sure it's from a known composer that doesn't have dirty clipped shit
-
Lol, alright man thanks much appreciated. I was guilty of that ^ haha not setting the gains correctly. Gotta get me a DD-1 here veryyyy soon. So people put the gain up alot more, so they can get more bass at a lower volume, but being that the gain is cranked most likely more than 3/4ths it causes clipping at a lower volume correct? The gain knob's purpose is to match the voltage output of your head unit. Every head unit is different and every amp as well. So we can't really say if 3/4 is too much or not enough. And yeah lol the dd-1 will make your life much easier I'd have to have a DMM in order to see the voltage output of my HU right? This just confused me a little more haha. No, you really don't need to see that number. There is a way to set gains with a dmm but it's not the best way to set them. The best way is to set them with an o-scope or with the dd-1. Lol sorry for confusing you
