  1. People started doing f'glass in boxes to make them louder for competing. I think it just absorbed less sound so you had more sound out of the box that wasnt absorbed by the wood
  2. A subwoofer is like a really big hammer beating on your box at up to 65 times a second. different than one hit with your arm. Hammer is also isolated to one small spot on the wood. Woofer pressure is spread across every square inch of the box. Screws are like temporary clamps for the glue joint until it cures. After that, you can probably take the screws out and may or may not have a problem. Im definitely with ya on 12 layer MDF boxes. I dont see the sense in it. There are many other ways to make a box strong than having wood on top of wood on top of wood. Look at the plastic ramps you put your car on top of. They are 1/4" thick and only have ribs on them and they can hold over 1000 lbs easy. Just my .02
  3. They dont run down the voltage they drop it around .5 volt per diode. They are not a contstant draw, they just dont pass full voltage. I dont recommend running an isolator for any reason. For every good reason there are 3 bad ones behind it..
  4. Connect everything in parallel. All positives together and all negatives together. Only bad or dead batteries will cause harm to an alternator.
  5. You will have muliptle voltage sources.. (only connected in parallel by the ground) The 12 volt one and the 16 volt one. Two different alts = two different sources.
  6. Oh ya.... depending on your amps you may want to turn them on with either 12v or 16v. Some amps freak out with high voltage or a voltage from a differnet source.
  7. If they are in noway connected on the positive side your ok.
  8. You can mix and match any alts as long as the voltage is the same.
  9. 2 amps overnite is fine if its only one batt.... or not that drained.
  10. You need to put it on 12 volt 10 amps overnite to even come close to fully charging that much battery capacity. thats only 3-4 amps per battery. Dont worry about your voltage going over 15 while they are charging. As long as they are not getting too hot. If they never get hot, they are not fully charged. IMO. Your batts fully charged will stay over 13.2 for hours when you take them off the charger. Most chargers when left on for long periods of time will taper off on the charging current mainly because the voltage is getting higher. This will keep the batteries from too much charge.
  11. 2 amps is not enough. I would use 10 amps overnite on an automatic charger. Your batts should rest at 12.9 or higher after sitting off charge for 8-10 hrs.
  12. It means that either his alt is dead or can not produce the amperage his batts are trying to pull to reach normal 14+ voltage. Just because voltage is under 13 doesnt mean an alt is not producing any current. This happens quite often when batts are bad or pulling alot of charging current.
  13. That sucks.. Have you checked your batteries individually?
  14. What size L7? Im assuming 12" 1.2 is really too small for either a sealed box or especially ported. I would put that sub in 2.0 to 2.4 cubes tuned to 30-33 hz. I can give you port dimension if you need them.. Just send me a PM.. A larger ported box (tuned properly) will sound much smoother and play ten times lower. There are no drawbacks to a ported box unless tuned wrong.. Iraggi..
  15. Thats am amplifier and EQ. Im sure you can call Pyramid and get a schematic of what the wires are. If you have a better pic of the wiring i can tell you. I would keep it and use it for small speakers like 6.5 and smaller. Dom
  16. Me too. I miss rides like that. Why do we not see more like that now? I guess the fast and furious craze didnt help...
  17. I Just put all these on here to give some ideas of older installs and put some pics to good use. Not to drum up business. Although if anyone needs an alt.
  18. Not much to say about this one... just really hard to appreciate the fiberglass work in the trunk and just how hard it was to cover in one piece of vinyl!!
  19. Everyday... Its usually some bogus $hit tho. Nobody wants to spend any money on quality work.......
  20. Im not sure of the year but I think its a early 90's model Toyota with hydraulics... 9 JL Audio 12's with a mirror faced box. JL 10W6 in the doors with some other speakers There was a time when fiberglass was unheard of in car audio. This was amoung those times Custom console for the swithces and some other stuff... OMG... We flecksoned the entire dash and clearcoated it. How funny.... The things you forget you did.. Clarion EQ in the mirror.
  21. LOL..Nah..Im just posting some pics of what we did back in the day when I had Traffic Jams Car Audio. Just about everything Im posting is from the mid 90's. Some are only 4 yrs ago but most are very old..
  22. 1972 Monte Carlo. This car was done back in 1999... I think. Whenever those PPI amps first came out.....he got the first 2.
