  1. be close to $250 per woofer for sundown but very much worth it i have had the sa-12"S and my buddy has sa 15"S and both got down..i had @1800rms to my sundown 12"S and he is giving his 15"s @3k daily and they dont even stink after long play time.. great subs and they dont ever seem to get loose or sloppy ...i would look into the sundowns if i was you... and you will have a hard time getting any 15" that's good for $250.00 a pair... I may end up doing it. and if i pop em just recone to SPL coils. more or less looking for opnions on woofers in that range though in case some come along used or something. for example, someone has a good deal on IA DR 15's right now on CACO but i know nothing about them...
  2. 280 per for copper coils before shipping. looking at around 650 for the pair for me after shipping...
  3. I'm looking for something rated at 1k. Because in reality they may see about 1500 per. I know SA's can handle 1k per, its what im using now. would just rather have something a little more stout and a little bit more within its own limits. per
  4. alright guys im going to be looking to upgrade here shortly. looking to move up to 2 15's simply because its as big as i can go correctly in my cargo area, and i wanna just get the upgrade done so i cant be haunted by its possibility later on.lol. anyway, im looking at subs in that 1k rated range. Fi Q's or SSD's, LVL4's, AA Havoc's, Sundown Z's, IA Death Row; along those lines. looking for opinions for the most part. id prefer around the 250 per range. Also, the box will be around 6.2 net for the PAIR after all displacements, so they'd need to like smaller boxes. Id like at least some authority to play lows when i choose too, yet still have decent SPL potential. Would like real world experience when it comes to feedback. appreciate your time!
  5. thumbs up for wagons. sub up port back is probably a good place to start
  6. anyway you'd wanna trade for SPL coiled sa12s?
  7. look good nick. those things are THE best PA mids out there IMO
  8. you never turn the gain all the way up. thats what WOULD blow it. you'd want to set them as high as you can safely with the use of an oscilloscope or a DD1
  9. The motors are also different which is why the rating went up from the past rating. The old style Q's still can handel that power with the BP power otption. good info there. did not know that. that should date the motors then to avoid complications (if they dont already)
  10. the Q and SSD went up in rating. probably closer to the real life capabilities of the subs now
  11. that amp is fine but wire it at 1 ohm. the HDC3 can handle it fine
  12. for 3 ported i need 1.8cf so it 4 sealed or 2 ported i know 2 ported wont be loud enough really now? lol. give em alot of power and well designed box and 2 8's can shine. dont just knock the idea man; id look into it
  13. would be okay to play on my new spl setup. i use the same box for daily and competing and use aero's to change tunings. i have 3 4" aero's i use for daily, and 5 for competing. with the 5, its tuned around 45-46hz, and with 4, its tuned to 40-41. now i know of a few songs that stay in the mid 40's, but do you guys know of any other songs that i could get away with playing on the 5 aero setup? thanks for any help
  14. you CAN do it, but its not ideal.
  15. if you are honestly after SQ, have someone who designs boxes desgin you one. that way you can ensure you are getting a combination that works well together and not just numbers going off of speculation
  16. i drilled a hole straight through my frame rail and through-bolted it
  17. well imma tell you right now a 4" aero with that small of a box requires a ridiculous length. with single 8 boxes like that i usually recommend a slot port design..
  18. i know a guy who goes by skip01 that has a design for 4 tens that would be applicable in your case i think. the design im talking about is shown in this vid. as for your specific dimensions, i used 14H x 30W x 25D, 1 6" aero port 13" long, and a driver displacement of .25 cubic feet. just as an idea...
  19. you have virtually no port area man. deff need to bring that up to at least above 12 sq inches per foot if using a slot port
  20. thanks for the reply. i had read through that a while back and learned a few things. i dont have access to a TL other than shows though, so a lot of the little details i just cant test right now. more or less right now im curious to see if you all would think it to be more beneficial to run 5 aero's when i compete or stick with a conventional rectangle removable port with alot of area? the aero's and rectangle port would be tuned around peak (aero's slightly above it) and i have access to build both options
  21. hey guys. im new around SMD, but have been trolling around other forums for some time now. ive made the dive into competing in my local NSPL events and im hooked. right now the setup consists of two american bass xfl 12's wired to .5 on an old solid audio f2500d. the box is currently around 4 cubes net, with three 4" aeros tuned to 35ish. current scores are 145.2 sealed and 146.5 hardcore(both drivers side doors open) all on around 1500 clamped watts. i want to stay under the 1800 mark for clamped power to remain in my class yet try to get as loud as possible through efficiency etc. to me, what i want to try is either add two more aero's for competing(would be plugged for daily) to raise tuning, add port area, and help with rise, or work on adding a removable rectangle port with gobs of port area for competing. im looking for any insight into port options and other little box tips that may help me. thanks and im glad to be here!
