  1. I kno the bose crap is tied into the anti-theft system & i read stories of the car randomly cutting out and refusing to start. I plan to pull it all out over the weekend tho. as far as the other stuff also mounted behind the rear seat... i got a fuse box and a few other things i have yet to learn what they are. Thinkin i'ma have to pickup the service manual so i can learn what i can rip out. also, still been havin issues with the new head unit retaining memory after its powered off. its wired to the 12v constant but i still think the bose brain box is messing with it so i'ma be running a 12v directly off the battery w/ a fuse. hopefully that solves that issue. basically it comes down to having to rewire the car like it never had a audio system installed. You could always get a custom built fuse box and wire it like that.
  2. I will be trying one out as well. I want to see what all the fuss is about but I am doing one for one sa 8 on 500w and I am only testing which is louder to the ear. Both boxes will have the same variables as far as power and environment go.
  3. not to be mean but you sound dumb how is he going to find a skar dealer when im almost positive the only dealers are on line unless its a individual but still doubtful and as for DC im almost positive to that if you dont live in or around cali....well good luck i havent seen any dealers for either skar or DC around me and i live in MN so if i was asking this question how would you suggest i listen to them and compare? The problem with your statement is you don't know where this guy lives. Just because you don't have a dealer near you doesnt mean he wont either. I have a Skar Dealer and a shit ton of DC and Sundown installs around me and I am in Miami. Best thing he can do is find out who is around him and what they have. The suggestion maebros made happens to be the oldest and best to do things when it comes to suggesting what someone should put in their car. Bass is suggestive what you think sounds great may sound like shit to the op so telling him go with this or that before he has heard it is just as bad as him going to youtune and picking a sub that way. The ultimate best thing to do is pick a top 3 and google the hell out of them. Read reviews compare specs and go from, ultimately it will come down to how he designs his enclosure and how solid his electrical. OP, honestly of your list I think the Skar IVX's are a solid entry level sub. Skar actually has a b stock sale that you may want to jump on with your current budget. Also take a look at the Sundown E or SD series. I think the DC Level 3 may be out of your price range if you're looking for 2 subs. i understand that hearing the subs in person is the best way to determine what you like. but on the other hand i was making a point i dont know were he lives, but i myself live in minnesota, so therefor how would i be able to listen to them in person when there is no dealers around me. so if he is in the same situation as me then how would he listen to them? not everybody is fortunate enough to have a lot of different dealers around them. now with that being said if he is in a similar situation as myself then yes read a whole lot of reviews. but thats about it you could look on youtube but obviously we all know youtube doesnt do justice. i wasnt trying to be mean but thats what i was getting at is if he has no dealers around him, like myself and im sure other people how would he listen to them to see what one fits him or the one he likes best? In that case I would say do what some of us have done and start a thread like Minnesota roll call or "your state name here" roll call and find out who is local you would be surprised how many members here live around each other. Who knows you might luck out and get to hear a few different brands and draw your own conclusion. If all else fails you're going to have to dive in and make a pick based on reviews and opinions.

  7. How about a Soundstream Rubicon 4.600? It does 300x2@4ohms so you can wire each sub independently and when you're done you will have a 4 channel amp. I can do $130 shipped for mine BNIB, I ended getting the Tarantula series amps so I can't use the 4 channel anymore.
  8. Another good tip is to know what the popular brand for the locals is (when I say locals I mean those noobs who think they know car audio but dont know ish). Biggest thing about shops is a lot of business is walk in customers who don't know anything about audio but know they want 4 15's and umpteen watts but it must be Kicker or Powerbass. At the shop my dad works at Kicker, Powerbass, Power Acoustik and Pioneer are king along with prefab boxes and amps kits. You would be surprised how many guys have CVR's, CVX's or L7's just because they think Kicker is the end all be all, but thats a Miami thing. Recurring business and referrals will be your best friend so make sure your work takes 2nd to none, your prices are better than most and you offer any and everything someone needs when it comes to car audio. You really only need 2-3 big system installs showing off good fab work, great innovation and amazing attention to detail to get your name out there as the local shop to go to. For the most part starting off you will only see those who just want a quick speaker, radio, sub and amp install. Do you do alarms? Can you do HID's? Tints? LED's? Anything other than Car Audio & Video?
  9. The sub tasted good as hell didn't know sundown could taste so good. Yeah he has adapted well with my other dogs so thats good, my 7 year old saffordshire terrier had to check him in the beginning but he knows who is head of house lol. he is happy and I know getting good food everyday makes him happiest.
  10. I never tried that on mine, damn maybe it would have fit snug for me as well. I custom mounted mine and it took 16 gauge my Stinger 12 gauge was too thick for the hole (that's what she said ).
  11. Thanks man I appreciate it . P.S. He just gets excited way too easily now when he sees hot chix he is a little attention whore. He gets all up on them gets on his back and lets them rub his belly while he makes weird panting noises. Sneaky little bastard.
  12. Yeah he is a horny lil sum bish but he is a puppy so he can't really control it. When he gets happy the lipstick comes out.
  13. SMD meet Toby. He is about the nicest dog I have ever met (mind you I have 5 dogs already), he is just a big couch potato. I found him on the street kind of beaten up, I think his previous owners were trying to fight him and he just doesn't have the heart of a fighter. He is about 9 maybe 10 months old and is one of the quietest dogs you will ever meet. Take a look:
  14. The cupcake and the icing was good but the marshmellow design was a little too sweet for me. I am uploading the pics of my new dog now.
  15. Yeah I though so, I don't know how she knew Sundown was my favorite brand but it was cool as hell.
  16. My birthday was Monday the 14th and my girlfriend wanted to do something to wow me so she had her cousin (who has a cupcake business) bake me cupcakes. They were my favorite flavor, red velvet, and they had something interesting on top. Take a look:
  17. Okay I can see your issue. can you just uninstall all of the bose stuff since you are aftermarket or is it integrated in the system and will cause issues? If anything hit up snafu on here he is an electrical genius so he may have a solution for you to bypass the issue. I can't check out the link you posted until I get to work. I am mobile now.
  18. Price of your guess is direct out of the worehouse. And it´s a class D amp, for mids and high´s class AB sounds better. I guess you http://www.ebay.com/...=item43afddbb14 very good SQ amp, or the bigger brother http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e5dae1ba5 The reason I suggested the amp I did was because he is running all Kenwood gear and it would make more sense to keep matching gear than change it up now. The soundstream reference would be dope but I am a stickler for matching my gear and I do that as much as I can. yeah, thats what I'd like to keep going for. Until I get to the subs that is. I'll prolly even upgrade to a eXcelon headunit. Have you already started thinking about subs?

  20. I might just go ahead and upgrade the 5 1/2" to these: Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X1730P http://www.sonicelec...KFC-X1730P.html the 5 1/2" i got now i already had to mock up sum pods for since my car came with this dreaded bose system and i dont like it so i'll be fiberglassing sum new ones, mine as well upgrade to a more suitable set. That'll work great then. The amp will match up well with your whole system.
  21. Lol, great yeah that would work great but again be careful with the gains on the front channels the 5 1/4's are going to hate you.
  22. Amp all 4 speakers on a 4 channel amp and since you're running all Kenwood look for a Kenwood Amp you should be straight with a 100x4 amp just go really easy on the gains for the front speakers. This Kenwood amp will give your by 9's full power but you will have to be really gentle on the gains for the 5 1/4's http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18457_Kenwood-eXcelon-XR-4S.html
