  1. you need a alt for it. its still a D16 motor right 96-00? i still got my old iraggi alt it was the 200amp version. http://www.hondacivicforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72391 ive tried selling it on my other civic forum i spent most my time on when i had the civic but nobody there is really into the beats. and i took this alt off before trading the car in for my truck. worked great on my 99ex civic i just had to use a longer upper adjustment bracket since i still had stock size belt on it. 150shipped paypal if interested? ive had it sitting around for almost a year now and just forgot about it. i was hoping to have another civic by now but i just cannt find any cheap project civics locally.
  2. any place that sells air suspension can put a kit together for you! just air cylinders with some adapter brackets on them to fit your vehicle. everything else is very common with every type of air suspension vehicle there is 2 types of air bags for a civic. like he got air cylinders, and theres also air sleeve bags. the cylinders are faster and very hard to rub thru the side casing. and air sleeves do ride softer BUT they can also rub other suspension parts or wear on itself with low pressure. valves just depend on how fast you want them filling and dumping. larger valves drop faster of course and vis versa. a good kit will run you about 1K-1.5K bucks with quality parts. and you DO NOT want to cheap out with the system! cheap setup = problems....
  3. o well really just her loss. shes going to be driving around in a hoopty or stock vehicle and your sons gonna be BIG PIMPEN HOES flipen switches ya im jelous...LOL my first car was a old school and had all the old school problems and i had to fix it myself with some help from my dad and all his tools at least but he pretty much told me i was on my own he was just supervising me and telling me how bad i was screwen up.LOL o how time flies.
  4. well im pretty sure it was from my battery low voltage and to much bassboost. but if it does pop again then ill trash the amp and say at least i tried. thanks for the web link! ill have to order those and solder them in. im decent at soldering so it shouldnt be a problem. hardest part is desoldering to me since i dont have one of those fancy desoldering tools. i just use the desoldering braid stuff. works alright at least. worst case id say is i waste 10bucks and 1hour. i have some crappy subs ill hook it up to to test it just so im sure it doesnt hurt any good equipment at least just to test it out.. thanks for your guys help. ill have my fingers crossed it was just a fluke or bad mosfet since the two mosfets are different.... same numbers but one has numbers pressed into it and the other is printed on it. so looks to me like it could have just been poor quality part. i dont think i used this amplifier for to long. cannt remember tho. i think i used it for 2months in the crx and a month in the truck before i started going big.
  5. ive had this mtx amplifier under my bed for quite along time now. i had it hooked up to my 2 10inch RE RE subs in my really old crx i had until it one day poped and didnt come back on. ive taken the amp apart some and it looks like the mosfet or what ever they are called is burned on one and looks like both cracked. i cannt see anything else fried so im hoping its just this one or two parts gone bad and i can simply unsolder them and solder in some new ones. but where can i find these parts to replace mine with? ive tried my hardest to see the numbers and it looks like top numbers H406ad bottom numbers 75339p its not a very big amplifier of course but worked just fine for my little 2 10s, which im currently using as my home theater surround sound bass with a home plate amplifier. figure if i can fix it by just replacing these 2 mosfet chips that would be simple enough and id have a decent little amplifier again and i could even use it for some highs also... cheap fix is always better than a large paperweight!
  6. LOL just to show a choice i got. tiny cheap car great mpg, fullsize truck great for play and work but not so good mpg. but my civic isnt to bone stock... its got a few upgrades switched to 99-00 front end, tails, and interior a bit... 99-00 center dash swap to electronic heater controls and mostly the double din radio opening for my alpine deck, and i hated the heater temp slide controls! only thing im missing to make my 96dx look just like a 99-00civic is the rear seat to match my front seats. its a work in progress.... no motor swap for me tho to much money for more power that i dont need. i have a lowering suspension from my black civic to go on it. im just waiting till after i paint the car before i install the suspension. been to cold but its getting warmer out now so ill start fixing the rest of the body work shortly and painting the whole thing gunmetal. i just dont have the cash to modify that much. and with the cost of moding two vehicles with my paycheck thats very tight! truck is getting 90% of my spare funds right now. after i lower the truck ill get back on the civic again with more money. i wish i had your kinda cash so i could bag my truck and go big with the stereo. im just waiting for the funds.
  7. ya kinda... still out in the country a bit. not to much.... just have a few corn fields surrounding our yard besides two small houses behind our shop.but my vehicles are mostly in the garage and i have paging lcd alarms on all my cars besides my 66 impala. id like one on it but i just dont drive it anymore..... to much HP and to heavy of a right foot plus cops love that car. so its very easy to get harassed! ya just have to get creative. dont use the typical switch that anyone can just flip. my pin just looks like junk so even if a thief looks he wont know why it wont start.LOL the more creative ya get the better your chances are from a smash and ign pop! but wont save from a tow truck theft of course. get creative with your own or even multiple switches. they can be constant switches or even use a relay and some resistors and diodes to use a momentary to constant switch setup. i leave my civic parked outside no problem because i bought it so cheap as a project so if its stolen and trashed ill just take the insurance check and get a profit
  8. true. yes all it takes is a tow truck hydrolics and a heavy duty pickup truck. repo truck main reason why i have full coverage on both my vehicles. and to up your aftermarket valve for insurance ya need pictures and specs. at least thats what my insurance company wants... they cover up to 1K bucks as-is. i still have to get pics and paper work to my insurance company for my system. but for now im not to worried about theft yet. my kill switch is a bit different. im using a power plug from some old neon transformers i had. without the plug it wont power the fuel pump. and with the pin removed youd never know thats my kill switch.... so far havent needed it to be bested yet... i did this kill switch before i put a alarm system on it because it was all free! but as long as i pull the pin/plug they wont be able to punch the column and drive off at least! ya just have to be creative with the switch style... a simple switch is to easy to just flip and is very common.
  9. o ya if you have stickers on your car advertising what you have you might as well put STEAL ME sticker on as well... never advertise unless its a competition vehicle thats trailered or show roomed. and steve for your civic since it can get stuck like that why not put a kill switch on the air management? that way they can not simply hit the switches to air it up. i put a kill switch on my fuel pump so at least no one can drive it off as long as i pull the pin.... i only pull the pin when in im a neighbor hood that i dont trust. seeing how its a manual i didnt even worry about installing the starter kill.
  10. you got anymore plans for the civic or is it just on the back burner with all your other projects?maybe a motor swap http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif i have a Y7 in my 96civic and i know its not to fast but i can only guess how slow urs is with that huge box weighing it down.LOL if your going to give it to your kid im sure he will like the motor swap... that will defiantly make him the coolest kid in school o hell in the whole town!
  11. ya im not looking for actual etched glass... just some stickers basicaly... just like any other automotive vinyl stickers. i dont want something thats FOREVER.LOL id like it to be removable that way i can always change it out if i wish....
  12. well im looking to buy some etched vinyl so i can stick on some glass or plexiglass... id love it if you or a place could cut a design into it but i wont mind cuting my own with a razor blade. my local vinyl shop doesnt have any etched style vinyl and only way they will buy it is if i buy the whole roll and im sure i dont need that much! LOL mainly id like to do my screen name, maybe some flame designs or logoing with it along with some lighting to make them really pop.
  13. ya id like to have some FI subs but i was basicaly recycling the system from my old civic that i traded for the truck.LOL i just droped my yellow top under the hood as the main battery yesterday but it still dims like a MOFO even on the 600watts... weak @ss 100amp alternator! im hoping that upgrading the grounds wire will help! and im also going to tie the 2 optimas together under the hood.... its just to cold out to really feel like going doing all this work.LOL yesterday i worked on the truck for afew hours changing it over to a GMC styling... im going to buy a flush 30bar billet grill for the front hopefully next week when i get paid! and i still need to paint the grill, i just cannt find the paint in a spray can form.... so if i cannt find some paint in spray cans then ill be forced to buy a quart of paint and clear but to bad its quite a bit more $$ but its looking like ill have to since i cannt find a place that has the color yet! and yes the truck needs a wash but with all the road salt on the truck and road well it would be a waste right now... i also put in new corners, parking lights, and headlights... tho had to modify the headlights for them to sit flush... weak @ss ebay lights! but i made them work so now i have the chevy switched to gmc. only thing i have to remove now is the silverado sticker on the door post, but i wont shave that will its warm out! at least my truck has the dual battery box already under the hood! :drunk: i just wish it wasnt to cold out!
  14. thanks guys. ya i bought the carpet from http://www.yourautotrim.com/ thats about the best i could match the carpet i believe.... tho the floor carpet is slightly different then the seat. and i used the seat to match the carpet. i ordered several of there sample sheets so id know exactly what matched with raising the rear bench ya do loose quite a bit of headroom..... but that just means WOMEN IN THE BACK it wont both them since they are always shorter
  15. and if ya dont remember my old truck since it has been awhile!!!! same style truck but older, smaller 305 TBI, and new truck is 350 Vortec motor and has a passenger air bag and tho i went BIG with the last trucks audio but this time i wont delete the rear bench since a 2 seater truck is not very party friendly.... tho again i wont go as crazy on this truck. im not going to shave the door handles or put a rollpan on it.... just bad experiences with my old truck.LOL but this time i will definatly be droping the truck! last truck i wanted to bag the truck and get rims but the cost just never allowed me to do so.LOL so this time im going to keep it real and just static drop the truck 4/6 so i can still use the truck for work and daily drive with ease! but i will be switching to my GMC grill again with this truck. infact i already have the gmc grill and badging to swap everything over, now i just need to order the flush 30bar billet grill for it to chop up and install it. i did like my old trucks running boards but cannt find them for sale anywhere so i might not be able to buy them for the new truck.
  16. finally finished well ALMOST finished my box i got a few more things to do. mainly port the box (to cold out right now to build the port) and lift the rear middle seat belt latches up 4inches as well ( i dont have anymore square steel tubing) i wanted to port it out the front BUT i dont believe theirs enough internal air space for it to be very nice, but lucky for me there still room behind the rear bench and wall so i should be able to build a exterior port for it without a bunch of work. i just built the trim panels for it the other day and carpeted it.... and i was going to cut out the carpet around the subs BUT i had to carpet it in the truck due to the weight of the box loaded and me being lazy to remove them, and well after looking at the setup with the carpet still inplace well ME LIKIE... and from what ive listened to i dont think it effects the output much... because the carpet does stretch out a bit easily so i assume its not that big of a deal.... and for 3 more minor things is first the subs are already kinda beat up from previous owners.... so the surrounds and cone are not show worthy anyways. and second great theft deterant since it doesnt look like i have subs.LOL and third keeps anyone in the back seat from kicking the subs AS MUCH. BUT if it turns out that the carpet stretches alot more over time then i can just cut the opening out... OR add another 3/4 3rd layer to the front baffle and then recarpet it so the subs cannt touch the carpet. tho my videos suck because of my cameras video mode sucking so bad at picking up bass they are not very good at all so please dont judge audio.LOL BEFORE only had the truck for a month now... much more modding will be done AFTER and afew build pics. and my seat lifts i made to raise the bench about 4inches i believe. and im kicking around a idea i thought of but im not sure about it so i kept it off at least for now.... i cut out a shape of my truck... but of course lowered tucked the wheels a bit. but i will be droping the truck 4/6 so it would match closely id guess. i was going to carpet it and just nail it to the front middle of the box... but now im thinking about maybe painting it, or just nothing at all..... and im not going to do anything special with the amplifier or the port since they will be hidden behind the rear bench tucked away..... plus the amp right now is just a temp until i buy a nice amp to match the setup great! the jbl bp600.1 works ok at 1ohm but at higher volume for along time at least on one song it kicks out and has to be turned down. i will get a amplifier that is rufly 1K watts at 1ohm. so the jbl amp is just a temp. o ya heres some videos also... and carpeted... im happy with the setup so far.... sounds decent even sealed (but i will port it when i can) i think looks really close to stock like it should belong there for kind of a stealth system.... hope you guys like. and remember AUDIO ON THE VIDEOS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! for some stupid reason my camera picks up highs and rattles really loud but doesnt pick up bass for anything!!!!!! i need to buy a actual camcorder like i used to have which worked great! and of course my camera is about 4-5years old now also. so its out of date for sure.LOL
  17. man i wish i was ur kid.LOL a 12year old kid riding on air and 2 monster subs with a wall!! hes definatly gonna be the coolest kid in the parking lot! hes also going to be the first kid in school that needs hearing aids. LOL im already jelous.... lol but meade can you get any better pictures of the temp controls around the cup holder? and did you just cut the manual cable down to fit easier or did ya just loop it around for the same stock length? i want to move my 96dx controls down there like urs since that is a great place for it! i dont use that lower pocket for anything.
