I measured it. On music, it rises to 200A. Seems like my ECM only kicks in and delivers the extra amperage when constant bass is on. the voltage reads a constant 12.8 in this test. I'll get the vid up. I also discovered another issue. Seems like a wire somewhere on the positive smokes up when I play it full tilt.

Yes. 3 0 gauge wires. However, my engine to chassis wire may not be true 0 gauge, closer to 4. Is this the major issue? My charging voltage is surprisingly low, about 13.4V warm, 14 cold, but I believe that is ECM controlled. I would like to test my alt's output, but I don't have a clamp meter. Anyone know where to possibly rent one?

Currently, I've got an SP4 15 powered by a DC 3.5k, and under the hood I have a Mechman 270 with a YellowTop. It's a daily car, 12v system, and I only play it full tilt when the car is on and revved. Do I need a battery as large as a D3400 as a secondary battery? Or will a smaller battery like a D975 work? My goal is to reduce voltage drop. Currently, it drops to about 11.8V on max volume.

yes Oh I see. I hear your alternators for vehicles with ECMs will compensate by producing more amperage, is that correct?

The ECM and PCM are the same units for most cars, right?

It appears like it's not PCM controlled http://www.automotix.net/usedautoparts/2005-toyota-camry-engine_computer-product-g66918216l.html?gclid=CPmzlvbup7gCFexDMgod3XMA0Q

If that's so... Is there any way to incorporate the AVBM into my alt? Or does that require a modification?

Thanks, but seems like my issues are all fixed now. I realized that I haven't upgraded the engine block to chassis portion of my big 3, and found that the wire was a tiny 16 gauge wire. Upon upgrading it, I'm seeing improvements all around. I believe the 13.4v I get when the car is warm is just my car. It's a 2005 Toyota Camry, with the 3.3L engine. Don't know if that helps with any research into this.

Oh alright, I see. How come my voltage is only at 14, and your 14.7? Do I need additional batteries or an additional alt to get this?
