Ideally 1500 RMS... But I'm upgrading to a Fi 18" Fully Loaded Q-Bl-BTl.. One of the 3. It would be enough if I got got the Fi Q or BL @ 1ohm. For my current setup it would be acceptable. I really want something that will make the Fi sub shine, and just run this one decently until I get it. Edit: I see it has up to 16Volt capabilities.. What's it rated for with the 1800 @ 1 ohm and 1100 @ 2 ohms. Is it rated at 14.4 or 13.6?

Yup, this is the one I'm looking at... Barely puts out enough for my needs (will be under driving my current setup) I believe I have a link to the amp on ebay in the first post.

FML Kranny you're good lol... Okay, I looked up the fuses on the SPL amp and you're right... 120 amps.. my Alpine M-1000 is 100 amps... so you're right there. So the SPL amp is out I guess... So as of now I'm looking at the Audiopipe amp and the Soundstream amp. Does the AudioPipe do rated, or more than rated? Cause it's RIGHT on the edge of my output needs. How about the soundstream? From what I see it's 250 amp fuse... I'm hoping that's not what the external recommended one is.. Any input on a better amp or info on this Soundstream amp is welcome. (I've already gotten rid of 2 crap amps so thanks for the input so far ) Edit: @teamace24: I'll definitely keep this amp at the top of my list... I just need something slightly larger... but if there's nothing out there for under $200 this will have to do Thanks for the input though!

So they do rated power? So you're saying that they are decent and should last a while? AQ1200D doesn't have enough power and AQ2200D is out of my price range. (I should also add I'm in Canada for shipping... hence ebay.ca) I've never heard of that brand, is it decent? 1000 RMS isn't enough for 2 ohms though. (Sub is 1500 RMS 4 ohm DVC hooked up 2 ohms) Back to the SPL amp.... it's the ideal amp for me even if it's like 200-300 RMS overrated. I just need someone knowledgeable to enlighten me about it. Can't find specs on it... Sounds Planet Audio??? I'm also in Canada so shipping would be a hassle... Plus I'd prefer new.. Thanks for the suggestion though. Holy SHIT .25 ohms? How do they handle that? (Or do you mean 1 and 4 ohms daily?) I'd be running it @ 2 ohms with my current setup, then down to 1 ohms with my next sub... Suspension upgrade is in order. A 6 cube box with a 15" alpine weighed down the ass end an INCREDIBLE amount on my old 2000 Honda Civic.

What was it wired down to?

I really hope the Alpine doesn't outperform the PA. Wire down to 1? The amp gets hot as it is. Hopefully someone has firsthand experience with this line of amps. Edit: The Planet Audio sub is Dual 4ohm. The 18" I buy will be Dual 1 likely so I can wire it up to 2ohm on the amp.

Sounds like a great deal if the subs are in good condition. I've had lots of success used myself.. Helps to know what the previous owner was using for an amp and peeking at their settings on it. What's the box tuned to? Edit: I have pissed off the Bestbuy people many times playing around with their sub section in car audio . I go there every once in a while to push their equipment to the limits. I have put a 500 RMS amp on the 300 RMS Kickers and was NOT impressed at all... They started distorting with little excursion and very small bass. I tried turning up the Dual Square Kickers they had but before I got em cranked on 1000 RMS the guy got pissed and changed the settings all around on the deck... I had the speakers off and the sub up lol. Over the times I've tried all their subs, and wasn't impressed by any of them except the square ones. Even then it's hard to tell because they are in a store and weren't cranked. Anywho, feed the Kenwoods 800-900 RMS and they should sound real nice depending on the box.

You don't think I have enough space to work with? My car can't really handle more than 6-7 cubes after displacement without a suspension upgrade anyway. That's really the maximum. How does the Fi Q 18" fully loaded handle a 6 cube box after displacement? I see it is like $150 cheaper and handles 1700-2000 RMS with cooling added. It's also more of an SQ sub for the lows and stuff so I'd like that... However it requires 6-10 cubes Also, a Planet Audio AC4000.1D is rated at 2000 RMS but we all know that is BS... So would it be pushing 1500 RMS do you guys think?

Hey all, I was looking at this amp as a cheap upgrade for my 1500 RMS PA Subwoofer. The current amp is an Alpine-M1000 which is doing it for now, but i think the sub has more potential for the low notes with a bit more power. (I've sold my old Alpine Type R 15" to a friend along with the Alpine M-1000 amp I'm using right now and as soon as he gets me the rest of the money I'm done with the M-1000. Bottom line, I need a replacement fast and this amp looks good for the price. Now I know Planet Audio's RMS ratings are BS, but this amp is rated at 2000 RMS @ 2 ohms and 1 ohm. Would this amp be putting out about 1500 RMS @ 2 ohms? (Lowest I'll drive it) My Planet Audio 15" is a great sub and hasn't smelled like burning voice coil or anything so I know the brand isn't complete garbage. I was also interested in this amp because it is strappable. That way when I upgrade to an 18" I can get another one of these amps cheap and have clean signal to my sub. What I want to know is if I will be getting 1500 RMS from this amp or closer to 1250 RMS like my Alpine M-1000 is outputting right now? Even if I'm only gonna get 1250 RMS, at least when the time comes soon I can simply buy another one of these amps for an 18". Thanks! P.S. I'm really looking to know what this amp will put out for RMS and if it's a decently reliable amp. Anyone know the fuse ratings/if there is any?

Are you wanting to do just a basic enclosure? If so then your "under 6x9" enclosure is the best option. If you want to do something a little different then you can build your "under 6x9" specs then add the between area to it and get a tad bit more space.Looks like you are going to have to use precision ports or similar though to get the volume you want. Yes, just a basic one. I'll make it under the 6x9s then. That's good news. If I were to fit 2 in though then I would need minimum 4K RMS.. And a lot of upgrades would have to be done. Basically that's just a hassle... And last time I checked 1 18" was more cone area than 2 12"s? How would the sub do from 5 to 6 cubes after displacement? Most ppl on this forum like to use torres box calculator.. and its downloadable I have Linux so web calculators are fine P.S. I listen to music like rock, rap, and dubstep mostly... So what would be a good tuning? I want the sub to hit down to 32hz on Get Back by Ludacris. So what tuning would you guys recommend? 30-32?

I have a 2003 Acura CL with a decent sized trunk, so 4.5 - 6 cubes at the most is manageable to fit in the trunk opening. (Fi says 4.5 - 8 cubes) I'll have to measure the width between the 6x9s because the sub will have to fit between those since they hang down. So far with a stock battery up front, a second decent battery in the back, and an alpine m-1000 amp there is 0 light dimming. 2 12"s just won't be loud enough or low hitting enough . I'll probably upgrade the stock front battery at the same time I upgrade to new equipment. I'm not a noob to car audio, yet I'm no expert. I'm 16, but on my 4th system and have upgraded mids/highs with kicker speakers all around amped and currently have a 15" Planet Audio 1500RMS sub that is doing it for now. I've gone through dual 10"s, quadruple 10"s, 1 15" Alpine type R (Great SQ sub I found, just not loud enough)... The thing is, I have become accustomed to the bass and to ME it's like having dual 10" subs again... yet everyone else says their ears hurt etc. etc... lol. So I'm looking at an 18" to keep me satisfied for a while. I can clearly hear the mids/highs over the bass and I can still turn them up more if necessary before clipping when/if I get this 18". Bottom line, I've heard great things about Fi subs, and a fully loaded Fi N2 18" sub shipped came to around $650ish to Canada if I recall. What I want to know is if this 18" will perform well in a 4.5 - 6 cubic foot enclosure, or if there is a different 18" sub that will perform better in a small enclosure. I was also wanting to know how would this sub sound, and would it get LOUD? I appreciate any input, but please don't nag on my age or this being too much bass, I'm ready for it. Tips on a better sub are welcome, I'm not set on this sub it is just the only one I know of. Thanks guys!
