Is there a way to tell if Hertz speakers are fake
Mr.JaunDurfle replied to Mr.JaunDurfle's topic in Mid's and highs
They were fake. Some guy bought three sets of them for $150 each. -

Yeah this will be my first auction, so I'll go and see what's up. This is an auction company located with-in the state, so it's not a traveling rip-off. If I don't feel good about it I won't bid, but I have to go just to see if these look legit and see if I can get them for a good price if they are. I'll let you guys know what happens. -

Thanks. I hope I can get these. It'd be a big step-up from the Rockford's I have now. The Rockford's are nice, but I have heard these make most other speakers sound like ass. -

according to UltimateLocator dot com there are three autorized dealers in my area, so it's a good chance these are real! -

I don't know what company it is, so I can't see if they are an authorized dealer. If I can open the box or see the serial # I'll try that I plan to keep my bids low. If it gets too high for my budget I guess I will never know if the are real. I'm hoping no-one around here knows about Hertz. Thanks for the input everyone. -
So there is a liquidation auction coming up and they had a couple of pictures of what look to be Hertz HSK 163 sets that will be in the auction. I don't know what the reputation of the company is that is being liquidated, so I'm a little concerned about the bidding getting too high if these aren't legit. So is there any way to tell if they are fakes?

Alternator whine help
Mr.JaunDurfle replied to Mr.JaunDurfle's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Thanks Snowdrifter, I'll look at that. Sheena, I've had two different head units and it has the whine with both, Alpine and Kenwood. This same system (same RCA's also) was in my other truck without noise and with the cables not run nearly as neat, and had no noise. I had it grounded to the frame though. I'll take another look at everything and see what I find. Thanks again! -
I need some help to try and figure out why I'm getting alternator whine from my speakers. I have the big three done with 1/0 gauge Stinger Pro Series wire. Same wire on my Optima Yellow Top in the engine compartment run under my truck then into the back of the cab to the distro block. From the distro block I have four gauge Stringer Pro Series wire to 3 amps, two Kicker 750.1's and a 350.4. The power/ground wires are not touching any of the Stinger HPM Series 14 gauge twisted speaker wire or the Tsunami RCA's going to the 350.4. I have the ground (Stinger Pro Series 1/0 gauge) going from the distro block in the cab run under the truck to the Optima, instead of the frame. Could that be where I'm getting the whine from? Should I have ran it to the frame? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently got divorced and don't have anyone telling me I can't take the backseat out of my 2007 Ford F-150 anymore, so... I have the back seat out and have a box started and all the supplies I need. I'm going with two Boston Acoustics SPG555-2's in a sealed box ( I know, you don't see those around here, but in the future I'll do a ported box), two Kicker ZX750.1 amps, a Kicker ZX350.1 to Alpine SPS600's and an Alpine CDA 9856 H/U.

Applying Second Skin
Mr.JaunDurfle replied to SlamminBeats's topic in Second Skin Sound Deadening and Automotive Insulation!
Denatured alcohol. Spray on, wipe off to clean the metal. Yes get rid of the foam. Metal is what you want it to adhere to. -
Air leaking around subwoofer..solution?
Mr.JaunDurfle replied to BEEMDUB's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
I am having this problem too. I think I'll go with BobbyG2's suggestion. Thanks. Beemdub, I know how you feel... I just built my box and have my subs pointed towards the floor, so taking mine out is going to be a pain in the a$$ too, but you need to do it right!
