it pissed me off quite a bit when they redid the l7s and the zx2500.1 this year. I was going to do 4 l7 15s off 2 zx2500.1s but they had to go and change everything. by the time i was able to get the extra parts the older model stuff was not available. kind of irritating really.

I'm going to ask around and see what kind of deal I can get worked up on a set of warhorses. I was going to do the ZXs in a step by step thing. Order a 2nd one now for my 8 12s. Then order 2 more later, and 2 more and so on. It wasn't going to hit all at once, but if I can pull some strings and break a few kneecaps, I may at least get one (warhorse) and work on the 2nd at a later time of course in a daily vehicle I think I'm in for a treat

I see a lot of SPL vehicles and whatnot with rows of amps. But I rarely see a set of ZX2500.1s. Are these amps just not efficent or what? I know the thing about them not dropping to 1 ohm well would hold them back but still a quality amp. I'm planning on running 8 of these on 8 lvl 5 12s eventually (hopefully by late 09). I really don't want to swap amps because I love this one to death but I'm open to suggestions also! What say you fellas?

zx2500.1 all the way. That one he got was the one that blew the other was still good as far as I could tell, I'm sending that one back to him today

I'm sure rusty doens't mind quoting a few lines of some PMs but here is how this whole ordeal came about: "I had a question also about your set up, did the woofer smoke in your ride or did you plug it into the wall? I only ask because the leads on both coils were burnt in half and the coil was just short of ash, in 5 years of building subs ive never seen a coil that charred. dosent matter to me either way i said kill em =] just wondering. if you werent trying to smoke them and they got like that there not going to last very long." Burnt coils and lead wire is caused by to much heat, heat is eith to much power for a woofer, really bad clipped signal (too much voltage input,too high of gains for amount of voltage imput/ over Eq'ed) or a amp producing DC current, DC will cook a woofer faster than anything but Ive reconed woofers after Super Street Deathmatches that were better looking than yours =] Theres something going on there, but without haveing the car in my hands theres no way for me to help. It does get pretty warm. I bought that stinger 8" fan from darvex.com and have it blowing on the amp now and it stays cool to the touch.

I have 2 08 model l7 15s that i can't seem to get sold . . . 180 each shipped.

Since I got my prices on material and everything I think I've decided to go with 8 12s (undecided on lvl 3 or 4 yet) and start out with 2 zx2500.1s. I'll move to 4 sometime next year. Yes I know about the ohm load thing and I'm trying to determine what I want to do about that but my funds can only fall a certain way right now. Most likely setup: 8 lvl 3 12s 2 zx2500.1s 1zx850.4 4-6 sets of the new pioneer revs (6.5s) (Until I can get the SS sets next year) Carputer and 7" screen from customcarputers.com 2 Powermaster D3100s 1 Powermaster D1200 240 amp H/O alt (only doing one so I can stay in SB4 per USACi) E-dead will be my deadener of choice unless one of my friends who works for a roofing contractor can get me a good deal on some peal and seal type material. Most likley going to use kicker hyperflex 1/0 kit for amp wiring and stinger for everything else Going to be walled, fiberglass and painted front plate. 4 zx2500.1s was a start . . . moving to 8 eventually. I was going to do 4 DD 9518s and do a zx2500.1 per coil :hairtrick: but the multi woofer thing came up and 8 lvl 5 12s with a zx2500.1 per sub may be coming na, I'll most likely end up with 8 lvl 4 12s
