  1. Ok...so I got home a little early today and pulled the hu and tried to ground the rca's....lets just say, that didn't work. Nothing blew up, but just the same, its not fixed. But I did remember I had a 3.5mm to rca cord laying around so I put that to some good use. mp3 player to amps = no ground noise hu to amps = zomgwtfbbq! Thanks for all the help guys. Now I'm off to whore myself out to make some money for that new HU! (AVIC F90BT | Yea, I know..another Pioneer)
  2. Interesting....This would explain a lot actually. Everything was working fine and then it all kinda went to shit. But I do have the HU grounded through the antenna and the chassis. So that could very well be the problem. so tonight I will ground the rca's for sure!
  3. yeah, that was the fist thing I saw...I'm not sure how credible that is at this point. Impressive...but I could beat it down with some physics, lol but I wont.
  4. No, I got what he was getting at. I'm not sure if you're fomillure with pioneer head units, but in the audio menu, after the EQ settings you have subwoofer settings. And one of those settings is 'off'. But I still get the rumble from the subs when a CD is playing. So, the subs on or off from the HU they still make this noise....WEIRD. Oh, also..I'll try to get some video of it. Just try not to laugh at my junk....Its still under construction. (not really, it ill just be pulled apart) NOTE I have found that it only does it when I'm playing a CD. Radio or aux in puts do not have this issue.
  5. Sorry it took so long to get back to this.... I can't (unless something with a different label does it) just turn off the sub pre-amps. I do have an option to turn off the subs in the audio menu (if thats what you're referring to) but it still does it when I have the subs "turned off". It will stop of I unplug the rca's....lol so I'm pretty sure its before the amps. But This is why I wanted to bounce it off some other minds. I'll see about pulling the HU tonight and see if I can swap some rca's around and...I have some other rcas that I can run...just in case its the actual wiring.
  6. I'm about to go completely batty.... I'm 99.999% sure I know whats causing the issue here...but I just want to run this past some of you guys. Heres what I have System HU Pioneer DEH-P4800MP Amps Fosgate p450.4 Fosgate p600.1 Comps Fosgate t162 (front) Fosgate t169 (rear) Subs Fosgate 12" P3 (two) Car Electrical Stock Charging system with some extra chassis/engine grounds (5 to be exact) Ok, let me start at the top....My '00 eclipse gt had the factory Infinity sound system when I got it. I pulled the HU and put in the Pioneer. I even got the special wiring adapter so my after market HU would plug into the factory amp. Everything was fine. About 2 months later I drop in the p600 and the 12's. Everything seemed 'ok'. Maybe there was a little rubble from the subs when I was changing tracks on the HU. But nothing to write home about. About a year later I got my p450 and comps. Here is where the trouble started. I had a wicked ground noise and it seemed to be coming from the front RCA on the HU. So I just by passed that output at the HU and just used the pass-thru on the amp to run the fronts...but even now I get an annoying ground noise once in a while and the subs 'hum' even when the HU is at zero (volume off). All my pos and neg connections are soldered where they have ring-terminals. The I'm not sharing a ground for the amps (I was and it did the same thing then too). And those grounds were sanded to bare metal. So, my question is...could it just be the HU that is no good????
  7. About 5 or 6 from that night. That was the only one worth posting. Thanks bro! I'll post what I have. Most of my work is on my ext hdd at work. Taking a steady picture like that is hard has hell. You really need a stable platform in order to get the inside of the car. Like I told 98crewcab, it was the best out of all the ones I took that night. I would have taken more, but there was so much traffic that night I didn't want to push my luck (I didn't have a remote trigger) Here are some of my favorites that I have on hand Oh and I almost forgot! This is one of my most favoritest pictars EVER! lol I was thinking about what Steve might think of it when I took it. (it is a bit carpy, I took it with the PaS) Steve, if you see this, tell me what you think bro!!!
  8. I got the forum newsletter this morning and he had a link to Steve's re-build thread. So I went there...I get to post 17 and I see Mikesmith0809....well more noticeably his AV. I actually took this picture and put the rockford logo text in it and then posted it on RF's forum. Well, one of the admins there asked for the original and from there he put the text you see now. But when I saw Mike using it, I was stoked. I just thought it was cool that someone thought that my work was cool enough to use. So, thanks Mike!
  9. They're VERY accurate. Just look at this guy. Here is it in action.
  10. lol well thanks man, right now, I am the loudest I've ever been. But I'm having some issues with my car. For some reason it will only start when it wants to. I've replaced the starter, starter/engine magt relay, battery - nothings worked. Next I guess im going to have to start tracing wires. But back to my sysem. I got most of it from ebay (yeah...I know) But I didn't get the first MA Audio subs I found. I have been a Rockford fan for as long as I can remember. So I knew thats what I wanted. I just keep looking (for about 6 months) untill I found everything that I wanted. I took a shot on the RF P3 sub and as it turned out, its a really good sub. So I got another. When it came down to amps...lol I had an old RF 500.2. I cooked it and the wiring in about 2 days. So I upgraded to a P600.1bd. The pre-fab box was a bit harder to come by. I ran into the local RF dealer and the installer told me that he couldn't just sell me an empty box for 2 12's. I had to get the one that already had P1's in it. I waited about 3 weeks and went back and talked to the sales guy. He was a bit more willing to work with me. lol He took the P1's out of the box for me right there and sold me the box for like $80. It was a steal! I emailed RF asing about those boxes and they said to get something from Qlogic. The cheapest one I found was close to $300. lol I think I just thought of a new usertext. "boomin on a budget" I think I have about $700 total wrapped up in my system. So, thanks man.
  11. lool no. I only have a pair of 12's. In a prefab RF box. It would be fair to say I have the weakest system on this board. lol http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=24840
