  1. there is something better than splitting power wire into 3.

like giving each amp its own 0g run, fused to the battery.

I originally did that. But, was told it was a bad idea on here. So went and got that splitter. And it is only split 2 ways. Now I have 2 batteries. Should the power wires from all 3 goto one battery?? Or put the third battery in and have 1 power wire per battery? Want suggestions before I fully finish the system.

  2. Now I have 3 amps. I went to mickey shores and they gave me a splitter for the power wire. Now i have seen builds where they have a splitter box for the power wire. Atleast that is how they say it. Is there a power wire splitter box and not this little one to 2 power wire splitter mickey shores gave me??? This one is Almost the size of the fuse box for my 0 gauge wiring kit. I mean it works. But, if there is something better. I would like to try to upgrade to it.

  3. If the batteries are charged and all wires are connected to the right spots. Then that could be the amp did go. Hope thats not the reason. You double checked all of the wires and connections?

i triple checked everything. all is hooked up fine glad its under warranty looks like its getting sent out been working fine for months nothing was changed

Well, then that is a good thing for warranty. Suck to be out of an amp till they get it replaced or repaired. 3100's?? Guessing xs power?? If so ask one of there reps. See what they say as for charging.

  4. Was it all still hooked up? I usually disconnect my batteries before recharge. Got mixed reviews on what could happen. So I took no chances on something happening.

yeah it was hooked up while they was charging

I had some people say it can cook the amps. Some say it does not. I disconnected it just to make sure nothing happened. Did you check all of your fuses? Dumb question but, never know.

  5. you definitely shouldn't need another high output alt with that setup. it sounds like something else is wrong. check voltages at several locations to find out whats going on (if it is in fact a power issue, and not the amps themselves like Mad Mike had suggested) otherwise, your gonna be throwing money at this thing and never get a positive result.

edit: I misread, but you still need to see what your voltage is doing.

Yea. Probably should check the whole electrical. I have a new DC audio 2.0k amp and I know that amp is not bad. At-least I hope that it is not a bad amp. Now maybe my kenwoods. Glad I did not order that alt yet.... Busy hockey weekend. So I'll have to wait till my games are over on monday... Thanks everyone for some suggestions.

  6. Oh, and what do you have those kenwood amps wired to? I had a couple 12's wired at 2 ohms, set the gains right before clipping which was like 750 watts.. boom a week later your problem showed up. I would turn the volume down and it would stop and play constant.. I grabbed a clamp and volt meter, checked the output.. 400 watts. That amp just seems to be SHIT! It'll play all day at 400 watts.. Try it, set the gains for 400 watts and see if you find the same thing. Just barely going over 430 watts would make mine lose power.

Clipping starts at 810 watts. 900 rms at 2 ohms amps do. But clips at that high. 750 watts I am running now. Hoping when I get my second 220 amp alt it stops. if not I will take your advice and get another amp. What do ya recommend? I was thinking on the soundstream subs. Hoping that I do not change my mind again. lol...

  7. have you tried this without your cap hooked up?

No. But, when I told people that I have a cap they said they are useless. Unless you have stock battery and alt and running 1,500 watts and under.. Do not know if this is true or not. But, since it is snowing and raining by me.Think I have to wait till I get time to goto a friends or something to get it in a garage and not out in the cold and snow.... Plus I have to take subs out of box and unscrew the box and do a lot of work....

  8. My kicker dcvr 12" after about a week sounded louder to me. Not yet put to a spl testing. Think most subs do this....

I think OP is having the opposite experience. His subs are quieter/not as low

Yea noticed that after I posted. My fault. Sorry on that. Could that also be that maybe the box has changed due to the bass? Like not the right size for those subs?? Or the box may have a leak or something? I have heard of that happening... Not sure how true that is though....

  9. Didnt you already make a thread similar to this? Can we get some pics of your dual alt setup? Sounds to me like a massive voltage drop issue.

No. I posted about a box that turned into people running there mouths. But, like I said not here to start crap. Here for help on my first build. So, ill have to take a pic when the snow is gone. My alts are on the passenger side of my car towards the bottom of the engine. I thought that it was a voltage drop. Now what should I check for that? I checked all my grounds and the connections on amps and alt and batteries and all. I had someone inbox me saying it could be not enough amps from the alt. That one mechman high out put alt with a stock alt is not a good combo. So, in the morn I am going to order a second one. But, till then is there something else I should check?

  10. Ok so i have 2 kicker 12" dcvr and then 2 8in dc audio level 2 subs. 2 kenwood performance series 1800 watt amps and then a dc audio 2.0k amp. XS Power 2700 in rear. XS Power D3100 (replaced the cars stock battery.)Mechman 220amp alt and I kept the 110amp stock alt which is also new. I have 3 fuse blocks and a 10 farad capacitor.. Now my radio goes to 50. I know that I get distortion at 45. So I never go above 40. And my batteries are getting charge. But, even when I start the car and let it warm up before I turn the system on and then get into it. It will hit hard then drop and not hit as hard. And it only does it when I am at 28 or higher. 27 and lower I dont have that problem.... What should I look at for the problem??? Could it be that I have a mechman 220 amp alt with the stock motorcraft 110amp alt? Or a sign of a bad amp? The dc audio I just got from a guy at work today and set up today. But, I fully disconnected those 2 subs and amps and made it for it is just the kickers. And still does it. And then with the dc only still does it... Any suggestions???
