  1. You dont need to have that much port area for a round port man. I already said this. Forgive my ignorance, I'm just trying to learn here, but everything I've read states that for round ports, 9 to 13 inches per foot and for slot ports, 12 to 16 inches per foot. You say I don't need that, why not? I'm not arguing with you or trying to start a heated debate, I just would like more info.
  2. Yes, I had read that too, clearance on each end of port needs to be 1x the port diameter i believe was the way it was written. Joe, thank you so much for your time, and explaining this stuff to me. Not looking to go into the enclosure building business, just looking to increase my personal knowledge. Thanks again!
  3. So what determines the port diameter? Just whatever diameter, length and number of ports get me to the tuning number im trying for while staying within the 9" to 14" rule?
  4. Enclosure is/will be 29.5"w X 13"h X 15.5"d 2.6 Cu ft which is what is recommended by Boston, Subs are 2 Boston Acoustics G110-4 I need to make an enclosure for these, but I am also using it as a learning experience. Using round ( I assume straight PVC ports)with two 3" ports I can ge the tuning down to where I think I want it, in the 31Hz range, but the port area per foot is down around 5 or 6. From what I understand, I need to be at 9" to 14" per foot.
  5. Trying to learn and design a round port enclosure. I get the box volume right and the tuning frequency correct, but I am having a problem with hitting the 9" to 13" of port per foot rule. I either end up way low, like in the 5" to 6" range, or I end up with a crazy length of port that needs to make 90 degree turns. I've tired using 1 and 2 ports, different diameters and lengths. It just doesn;t seem to come out right. My enclosure is 2.6 gross tuned at 32Hz Can anyone help?
  6. Where di you get those grills? I want one for my setup.
  7. Here's my VVX-12. Will be running off a Massive NX5 for now, till I can recover from this expense and try to get an sk800.1 and sk85.4
  8. Ok, im interested in the 2 IVX 10" box. How does this work? Do you have a standard box that you use? If so, what are the measurements? Or do I have to give you my measurements and you build it to fit in my car? Its going in the trunk of a '98 Cavailer 4 door. I'm more interested in the box in that 5th picture, with the slot ports in the center of the box. Shipping would most likely not be an issue, I could drive over to Orlando (less than 2 hours away) and pick it up on a Saturday if that is an option.
  9. No problem on thread jacking, the more info that gets in here, the more we learn. also, am I correct in assuming that with my HU volume set higher and amp gains set lower, that the amp will not run as hot?
  10. Now did you test this with the RCA's direct to the DD-1 or through the amp?
  11. No I don't use the bass boost or the loudness. I will bump up the sub level when I'm listening at low volumes on occaision, if the song doesn't have a lot of bass output. I also use the crossover adjustments on the HU as well, with the crossover adjustments on the amp turned all the way up. Just seems more accurate that way to me. Amp adjustments aren;t marked very well. Just an FYI, Prior to using the DD-1, I used the "turn the HU volume up to 3/4 and adjust amp gains by ear" method. It proved to be way off. With the volume set at 27, the amp gains I had set about half way. Now with the DD-1, HU at 35 and amp gains set between 1/4 and 1/3. Amp ran hot before as well, so Im hoping with the gains set lower, it will run cooler. Its a nice little device. It was my first time using it and only my second system install. Took me about 30 minutes, but I double checked everything and was reading the manual as I was going through it. Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.
  12. I tried searching the forums several times but keep getting this error message; One or all of your search keywords were below 3 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. So, I used the DD-1 today as per instructions, and on the head unit it detected no distortion all the way to max volume, which is 35. It is a Kenwood KDC-X695 I tested it both ways, using the RCA's connected directly to the DD-1 and also through the amp. I then proceeded to adjust the amp gains, and turned them up till I got distortion then backed them off. Is it possible that my Head Unit does not distort?
  13. Any chance we could see a video of setting up a set of coaxial speakers and/or a set of 2 way component speakers? I am new here, found out about the CC-1 and the DD-1 while looking up info on how to setup amps. I need to set the HPF on my amp to around 55-60 for my speakers, and adjusting the sub would be nice too.
