  1. What exactly helped me there? a search yielded "look out on 4/20/12" been there done that. Not out......just looking for an update......
  2. elctrical is fine....140amp HO alty with a NGT extreme AGM up front. Just fine for 1000 rms... Same car, same box, same sub, same everything besides switching the amps. But 600 makes more boom than 1000.
  3. Anyone know whats up with the CHP album? I know very little about this album and basically all I got is the sampler was released a LONG time ago. I need more good west coast to slam........
  4. a soundstream? Does that even sound feasible?? Sounds possible to me....but at a more than 400w margin given the 1000w I should be getting from the other amp?
  5. So a while back I swapped out my Soundstream DTR1.900D for a higher watt amp that is supposed to be running 1000w at 2ohms as apposed to the 600wrms or the soundstream. I am not going to mention the name just to avoid the potential issues of the VS thread rule but lets just say it is an amp that has been clamped doing what it says it will do.....and that is 1500 at 1ohm and 1000w at 2ohms.... Now the DTR is 600 at the load I got it at while the other is at 1000w, the sound difference is night and day. For some reference....while building a more efficient box for the 15 I felt I should have some fun and free air it a little, just for kicks I gained it a few degrees from full gain for a few seconds. I only did this because I felt it wasnt running it very hard and no bottoming was heard, and this was on 1000wrms?!?! I didnt free air it on my soundstream but after having the sub in the box I went out and did a test listen, finding the new amp to be...uhhh....not so loud I threw the DTR back on it...barely any gain at all and it was already just as loud... having like 240 degrees of knob, maybe like 90 was enough to bottom out the sub..It scared the piss out of me not expecting it so I gained it way back down..... someone explain to me why this amp is louder but deffinately not as powerful..
  6. Thanks for the link! I can assume that is the general rule of thumb for proper port area, 9 square in. / cu.ft ?
  7. I am thinking dual 4" now....6" PVC is pretty hard to find. So two 4" aero's at 10-11" each Any benefit or disadvantage to this?
  8. Thanks for the reply guys! I want the aero port for the fact that I would like to tune it as I like it..I have little experience and am unsure if I am going to like 40hz. Secondly the sub will be on the TOP of the box firing up at the hatch. Should I also port to the hatch, or fire into the cabin? For the height dimension, I will be needing to use 15 so the sub doesnt hit the hatch cover with excursion. ALSO ON THAT NOTE. Will it make it sound terrible not having enough room to load the sub on the hatch like 1" away????
  9. I will be building a new box this weekend and I am thinking that I want to try my hand at some aero ports for the fact that I can adjust the tuning. I am running an alpine type R 15 in a ~ 3.5cu.ft. box. Dimensions are 16tall x 20deep x 25wide. Sub and port firing into the cabin and I feel like it may be unloading a bit and not playing as well as it should. The port is 2x14x17 deep. The new box should be sub up and I guess port toward cabin or rear? (Ford Probe hatchback)....Anyway I am thinking 15 x 22 x 25 this way th sub will be closer to the wall of the box, and hopefully pressure will build a little more before exiting the port? I have the current box at around 34hz and would like a little higher tuning to match my music more, somewhere about 40hz I am thinking. What size aero port should I use? Avoiding noise with a flared port would land me at ~40hz with 9in of port. With a 4in I would be running 3in?!?!?!? seems super short, wouldnt that also facilitate the "unloading" of pressure i am trying to avoid? My sub also has little excursion leading me to believe my box has a lot of rise, and considering it should be seeing 1000wrms at 2ohms I dont see why it wouldnt be slappin. I am a box building dummy, someone kick me down some help!
  10. Dont mean to be redundant but, ever? Or just currently?
  11. Is There ever any VVX-15s anounced in this threa? I havent caught any vvx-15's on B-Stock yet....
