  1. lol gotcha. That does seem true on this thread. But he really is seeking help on this one. I would help but I'm not the guy to talk to on mids/highs. I'm all about SPL lol
  2. what is that supposed to mean? and how is it beneficial in this conversation?
  3. What's up everybody? A buddy of mine is looking for some wheels for his 2009 chevy malibu. He currently has the stock LT wheels on it buy he is looking to buy some LTZ wheels. If anyone has any let me know! thanks! Also, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
  4. good ol' bud light platinum. the usual!
  5. clarion vx401 head unit. has 2v preouts. I am running it on track 5. yes I'm using the subwoofer out rcas.
  6. ya if i end up getting some I definitely will. They are a little pricey so thats the ultimate factor here. I may just end up going with focal because I have a friend that owns a shop that'll hook me up with them.
  7. yup definitely, but I'm about to upgrade them anyway, so for right now I'm honestly not worried about it. but thanks for all the help everyone! I'm about to upgrade to some rainbow components and an aq amp.
  8. well when i tried plugging the rca's directly into the dd-1, nothing would come up. No signal light, no detect, nothing. But when I ran it through the amp to check the head unit like it says in the book, it worked perfect. But my mids/highs sound fine at max volume.
  9. right, the light stays on on 33 but goes away when I turn it up. didn't make sense to me.
  10. ok thanks a lot. I assumed that much but I was just making sure. Because at 10 volume my subs are straight slamming. Thats why I was making sure I didn't have it cranked up too high.
  11. thats just on the subs amp. as of right now I don't have a mids/highs amp, ya i know its awful lol. that will be going in asap
  12. Quick question, I just picked up a dd-1 and it shows one flash of clipping on 33 volume out of 40 but then if i continue to turn it up, the light goes off and doesn't show up again. So am I safe to tune the amp on 40 volume since the clip light isn't on? I know in the manual it says not to worry about one flash but it stays on if I leave it on 33 volume but not above. It does the same thing on the amp when It's about 1/2 way but doesn't show a continues clip signal until about 3/4 of the way up. I just want to make sure everything is perfect. thanks for the help!
  13. in the manual it says play track 3(-5) for sound quality and a little less bass, track 7(-15) for the loudest spl, and track 5(-10) for a happy medium. I tune to track 5 just to be safe.
  14. In the manual it states to use -5, -10, or even -15 to set the gains. so that is fine that he used -5. I used the -10 db track to tune my system.
  15. if you like the u2's i would suggest menzari z09's. thats what I run. you can look at the pics. Mine are 24s and I really like the way they look.
  16. subwoofer wise, I would suggest obsidian audio as it is, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck. that will leave you will plenty of leftover cash for the rest of the build.
  17. we could meet up in muncie. I live in the middle of nowhere too lol
  18. Just figured I'd make a post about how I fell in love with my new dd-1. lol. I just got it in the mail today and on my lunch break, I tuned my hdc3 18's which are runnin off a crescendo bc3500. I gotta say, holy shit! It sounds incredible. The subs are still in their break in period and at 15 out of 40 volume, my windshield is flexing like no other! Only downside is, now i need to amplify my mids/highs! Thanks again Steve! 2 thumbs way up on the dd-1!
  19. well everything you need to know can most likely be found in this forum with some research. d1 is dual 1 ohm. parallel wiring is + to + and - to - on the voice coils. series is + on one coil to - on the other. then the + and - left over go to the amp.
  20. a d1 can be ran at either 0.5 or 2 ohms depending on how you wire the voice coils. parallel wiring would result in a 0.5 ohm load while series wiring would make it 2 ohms.
  21. ok will do. the box is built strong. its 1 1/2" thick all the way around. but i was going to use l brackets bolted to the floor. would that be strong enough?
  22. back seat will be in regardless. So either is an option at this point. and i think i like the idea of a wall better.
