  1. I was wondering how to calculate the amperage draw of an amplifier. Wanting to get a AQ3500.1 but i need to make sure i can power it 24/7. Link to the amp: http://www.audioque.com/AQ3500D1-Amplifier_p_32.html I dont just want to know how much amps it will take just to power this one, i want to know in general, how to approximately calculate the amp draw for an amplifier.
  2. Just wondering if anyone lives in central kansas with a nice system. I currently live in the big town of Ellinwood(LOL), just east of Great Bend.
  3. Thats what im asking lol. I would like to wall it but as i stated before, i really want to be able to see out my rear view mirror. Why? I say do 2 12's in the trunk and use the back seat area to mount a pair of amps. Before you do something this crazy i would reccomend having heard a box for those SXs port back subs back. These subs can get rowdy just dont feed them more than rated 1000rms those motors dont have any cooling options Anyway, good luck, you seem to have it handled. I'll be looking out for the build log. Well thats what i have now lol. I got 2 RE SXX 12's on the edge of the trunk facing the front (sealed with darn duct tape lol) on a crappy Power Acoustik 4000.1 mounted on a board i made that lays where the seats used to go. It looks good, just not loud enough for me. Also, i want to start competing next year so this would be the build to compete. The only thing i havent figured out was where to put the port. I can put it facing the front or facing the roof. Thats what i am asking your guys's help on. And yeah ill make a build log of it when i start in about 2 months. Idk what you actually typed there cloud but if its the part where it says dont push more than rated 1k to them, i can totally understand. I clamped my amp and its only doing about 800 watts total and those subs get hot as hell. Thats probably what i have been smelling. But thats why i am switching to AQ. Their subs and amps are awesome and from the get go, i wanted a company to stick with (that produced great subs and great amps, along with components, tweeters, exc) but with all that i have heard from previous posts on the forums, RE just isnt the company i am looking for. Dont get me wrong, their company is nice, but their customer service sucks and thats a big strike for me. Not to mention i heard RE amps dont really do what they say they can. Either way i cant wait for my AQ build =)
  4. Oh i know it would be louder with a wall, just saying how awesome it looks! And of course they know what they are talking about. I trust anyone who has had first hand experience with this stuff. I'm new to car audio but honestly, IDK how i lived without it! The only complaint i have with car audio is that once you have a taste of it, it leaves you hungry for more and more. And also, since i have this newly discovered passion, it actually made me switch my major. I wanna do car audio for the rest of my life!
  5. See idk what you guys are crying about, IMO that mustang is flat out awesome. Thats basically the idea i had in mind except the port would be right in the middle of the box just above the center console so i dont have the seats half way up against them. Still, one sexy ass build man. Kudos to you! I would love to see it metered. If you ever get a chance, post it up on youtube!
  6. Sounds good. Might as well just go with air ride. Was wanting to get that done anyways. And i just noticed that was Drek lol. Thats who i was talking about earlier. His setup is just flat out nasty.
  7. Orion you dont know how much i appreciate that link. Thanks man. And yeah i know it was crazy saying 4. Thats why i said wanted. Something about odd numbers bothers me but hey i could deal with 3. That shows very well how to make the wall and for that, i thank you! Well, looks like i have everything i need now. Thanks fellas!
  8. You sure i wont need a stripper pole? If i wall it i want to do 4 18's. Im pretty sure my windshield wont like it. ROFLCOPTERS Oh god now what Orion? Lol
  9. You sure i wont need a stripper pole? If i wall it i want to do 4 18's. Im pretty sure my windshield wont like it.
  10. 1,3,&4 are all subjective and I'm no audiophile nor do I have access to a TL but IMO my system sounds great, is loud, and looks good. Also after a year my rear window is still intact. systems in my sig, subs up ports foreword. Hey man you got a picture of your box? I would love to see it. Only saw the trunk, which looks sexy BTW!
  11. Its not necessarily "in" my back seat, its built where my back seat used to be. If its really that big of a deal and if you honestly don't think it will be loud (which i honestly think it would), then maybe i should just wall it. But if i wall it then i have more questions. Lets get started shall we? 1. How do you even build a wall? Does the box NEED to be perfectly rectangular? If so how do i seal it on a curved roof? 2. Would i still need to seal the trunk off? 3. Now this question i hate to even consider because i do like appearance, but do i need to cut my headliner where the edge of the wall is so i can properly seal off the wall? Or just completely take off my headliner and do some fiberglassing. 4.Great now im gonna need a stripper pole for sure lmao >.<
  12. Yeah thats what i figured but i wanted to make sure. I have heard of up-fire builds but couldn't really tell why they did it. Probably for space reasons.
  13. Ok thanks. So facing the front it is. Thanks man. And as i said, i want to be able to see out my rear view mirror that way i dont have to mess with back up cameras and what not. Now after i get done with the mustang i want to do a wall build or even a bandpass build. But thats for later on. Thanks =)
  14. So the question is still un-answered Which is better? Port facing the front of the car, or port facing the roof. I would assume port facing the front but thats just an uneducated guess.
  15. Thats what im asking lol. I would like to wall it but as i stated before, i really want to be able to see out my rear view mirror. Why? 16. Whats so wrong with 3 cubes? Thought that was an acceptable area for them lol. Like i said, that 13 was a very rough estimate.
  17. Thats what im asking lol. I would like to wall it but as i stated before, i really want to be able to see out my rear view mirror.
  18. Batteries and amps will be in the trunk and yes i do have room for 6 12's. The box isnt going in the trunk, its going in the cab. Think of a wall cut in half with the subs facing the roof. As for the alt, man there is plenty of room under the hood. So much you can stand in it! Lol. Its only a V6 and with this model mustang, they used the same body for the V8's and the V6's so when they put the V6 motor in, there is lots of empty space. I will have to fabricate my own alternator bracket though because no one sells one for my car =).
  19. Hey fellas. So i am currently planning my next system build and i figured i would ask you guys a question about the box i want to build. Heres some info leading up to the question. Ok so the back seats of my mustang have been pulled out (because i am currently running a cab fire setup) and i got the great idea to build a box where the back seats were. The best way to visualize what the box would be like, look at Steve Meade's box and picture that in the back seat of my mustang. I have plenty of room for 6 12's but im gonna be running 4 12's instead (cone facing the roof). I wanted a loud build but also be able to see out my rear view mirror. Now the question i have is, where should i put my port? Facing the front of the vehicle or facing up towards the roof? I wasnt too sure if this made even the slightest difference but i know that with audio, the slightest can be the biggest too. Just wanted to get your guys's opinion. Also, here is what ill be running if it matters. 4 SoundQubed (AudioQue) HDC4 12's 4 AQ3500.1's @ .5 ohms each (in the trunk with radiator fans cooling them xD) Box will be about 13 cubic feet with all displacement tuned to 30hz or so. 5 XS Power D3100's 2+ Mechman Alternators, think the highest they have for my car is 270 amps.
  20. God no lol. Ok building a box it is then. Wonder how the SXX 12's are gonna like 6 cu. ft each though O.o
