  1. The mic IS what I will be using for input, what I'm saying is I will seperate the mic from the wires (cut the mic off) and I'm pretty sure what's left will be like speaker wire, right? I just cut a mic in half and there was two cables. But I will take those two cables and put them where the subs would go on an amplifier, but on their own amplifier. Even though the ev2.200 has selectable voltage and doesn't require a lot of power, the line driver is a great idea!I found this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_27392_PAC-LD-10.html only thing is, I'm confused on what those red and black cables are, I'm guessing they're power/ground cables. I'm having a hard time finding a line driver that accepts speaker wire for output and the only next cheap thing is to go with the amplifier I posted earlier.
  2. But I'm not going to connect my led's straight to the amp, I will be using the controller, and a cheapy amp, I actually found a smaller cheaper amp here at amazon http://www.amazon.co...id=4T54WT4KBKR0 and I will cut the microphone end from the wires, and take those wires and connect them to the speaker output on the amplifier, I can tune the amplifier gains to be best used with the controller, and possibly add a knob for better control of it. But should the microphone wire have too low of a resistance, I can add a resistor in between the positive wire, correct?
  3. I think the best idea would be for me to experiment with the different controllers, and buy a cheapy amp like this one and use it solely for the lights http://www.sonicelec...Boss-CE202.html unless you guys can find me a cheaper one.
  4. But did you just wire the leds/neons in? Or did you actually use a controller like the anmi2?
  5. well, I know you can't, but if the amp had a selectable voltage, would it work? and technically a speaker can be used as a microphone, I'm not too worried about burning out the device or something, I just don't want anything to happen to the amplifier. I'm just checking to make sure it's safe.
  6. I found that street glow controller you told me about, I found a couple others too. When I get the money I think I may experiment. But I was wondering, they all seem to use a microphone, didn't find one that used rca's or anything like that, so would it be safe to open it up, take the microphone out, cut the mic off, and wire it into my speaker output on my amp? Or is there a way I can take some rca's, cut them and wire the mic into that?
  7. Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you knew of any ways to create or anywhere to buy leds that pulsed with your music (really the bass). I know that wiring led strips to your amp isn't safe. So what other way can I do it?
  8. Don't buy a kenwood 9105d. i own one, its regulated to 900rms even though it will do 1 ohm it still only does 900 at 2 or 1. Plus it "accepts" 4ga wire but they don't give you good power connectors to hook that size wire too. Don't get me wrong, It's a good stable amp and does fine for me. But if you want to get those subs you will want something better. Well, it's like I've said before, I'm on a budget, if you can find me a better amp for the same price or less it would be much appreciated, but for now this is what I'm sticking with, and it's not like I plan on keeping it, like we all do, we sell our old stuff to get bigger stuff, this is just what I'm starting out with.
  9. X2 comes with 6 month warranty and free cables, look.http://www.knukoncep...om/altintro.cfm I'm seriously considering trying one if I can get the money. Alternator will probably be the last thing I buy though. They're only like 200 bucks and seem to put out plenty of power! I'm puttin knu decals all over my car. lol
  10. So far I'm liking the sd12's, but I like the price of the obsidians, I think I may go with the sundowns though.
  11. well if I get the sd12's, what amp would you guys recommend? I've been looking and the Kenwood KAC-9105D caught my eye.
  12. I liked the suggestions, don't think I didn't. But I'd rather stick to 12's. I know bigger isn't always better, but 8's just seem so wimpy to me lol. I want something that looks tough, nahmean?
  13. Are these the sd12's you guys are talking about? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SD-2-12D4-SUNDOWN-AUDIO-SLIM-MOUNT-12-DUAL-4-OHM-SUBWOOFER-SHALLOW-SERIES-SUB-/120799374110?pt=Car_Subwoofers_Enclosures&hash=item1c20342b1e I may try those out, I think I'm going to try the pioneers first and maybe sell them then get the sundowns to try em out. Or I'll find someone who has sundowns before i sell em.
  14. I'm in Aurora, IL (West Chicago Suburb)
  15. It's a Saturn SL1 ('97), I was hoping to get a powerbastards or knukonceptz alternator, if I get a battery it will most likely be a xs power. The amp, I'm still not sure yet, I gotta find what subs I'm gonna get first.
  16. Ok, it's just I'm on a tight budget right now, I just got a new car and I don't have much to spend, maybe around 1000. Some of that is going towards a second battery, maybe a new alternator, towards the amp, wiring, etc. I only have around 300 more or less to spend on subs, and I'm hoping to get 2.
  17. I can't spend too much, I'm trying not to reach 200, and I'm hoping to achieve around 800 rms more or less each sub also if that helps others. Edit: To clarify, I'm looking for sound quality (I want it to hit as low as possible) not SPL, but if I could have the best of both worlds that would be great too. I may look into the sundowns anyways.
  18. Haha, sorry man, I hit enter while entering tags thinking it would seperate them, that's why the post looked so random and stupid at first.
  19. Hi everyone, this is my first post, so I thought I'd take a minute to say hi. I was hoping you guys could help recommend me a sub? I'm going to use a ported enclosure, I don't want to spend too much over 150, but specifically the kind of sub I want is a 12" and I want it to hit as low as or as close to as low as 20 hz. So far this is what I found that I may buy, I was hoping you guys could help recommend any others that could be better/cheaper. http://www.sonicelec...TS-W3002D4.html Edit: Oh yeah, and I'm planning on using 2 if that helps.
