  1. I have almost everything together for my big rebuild next year and I'm pretty much right on with my budget. I'm going with a ported wall. So far: Dayton Speakers- 4 DC25t 1" titanium dome tweeters 8 DC160 6.5" Mids 4 RS225 8" Midbass 4 RSS390HO 15" Subs Hifonics Amps- 2 GLX60.4 (Highs and Mids) 1 GLX100.4 (Midbass) 1 Colossus (Subs) Power- 1 XS D925 2 XS D1200 1 Mike Singer 230A Alt Processors- TBD I haven't worked up a price on wood and fiberglass yet, but the plan is to put one 8, one 6.5, and one tweeter in each door, a 6.5 and tweet beside or on each a pillar, then 4 6.5s and 2 8s at the top of the wall (on their own baffle, NOT SHARING THE BOX WITH THE SUBS) with the 8s at the corners and the 6.5s in between them. I'm running the door and dash 6.5s on the front channel and the 4 6.5s behind on the rear channel of one 60.4 wired at 2 ohms per channel, and the tweets off the other 60.4 wired at 4, one per channel. The midbasses will also be stereo and front/rear by being run off the 100.4 (one per channel), and the subs will be run down to 1 ohm off the Colossus. All in all, 4320w rms. The good news is that I kept the speakers, amps, and power part of my budget right where I wanted it. Now to make some money and start buying supplies....
  2. Ah ok. Maybe they were talking about a different Singer... Oh well. I'll look into that. The mechman for my car is over $400.
  3. Where is he based out of? I heard he's around here somewhere. If so I might have him take a look at my car, because the place that the alt is in is tiny. Idk what could fit in there.
  4. Plan on it. Just gotta get the funds. Atleast I got it figured out and I'm getting something good for the price.
  5. Got my amps picked out. One Colossus, two GLX60.4s and one GLX100.4
  6. Ah... Thanks for the tip. I will check us composites. I didn't even notice the 2008 thing at the bottom. Damn. I wonder if they're still in business...
  7. Been looking online for prices on resin and such since it's like, $12 a quart at Walmart and Home Depot. HOLY SHIT BALLS! $27.50 A GALLON?! http://www.mertons.com/Epoxy/polyester_Resins/index.html I haven't looked much, but that's better than the prices I've found locally. Much better.
  8. Mine is sealed and does fine. I have to turn my bass knob down some for metal and rock though. It's way to much turned all the way up.
  9. Well, atleast I got my amps and speakers below my budget on them. Now for wood and all the misc. stuff that adds up... Great...
  10. Alright. That and a 270a alt should do it?
  11. It's actually a little cheaper if you look power vs cost. The brz1700 is $.1588 per watt and the Collossus is $.1562 per watt. Power vs Cost indeed. Good point man If you go with the colossus, I'd recommend upgrading the alt for sure, and probably 2 batteries in the back. Overall, I'll be pushing about 4400w, including my mids and such. What batts would you recommend?

  13. How many batts and such? I think the biggest alt I've found for my car was 270a. The stock alt is 150a, so I know I'll be changing that.
  14. No one told me that. I just thought it was. My current build used to be really peaky around 100hz until I put an 80hz high pass on my components and an 80hz low pass on my subs, so that's one reason. I can admit that I'm probably mistaken though.
  15. Ok. That's why I asked because the Colussus is listed second to the Mt. Olympus series.
  16. The Colossus is a lower quality series than the Brutus? Or the other way around?
  17. How do you set one up? I mean, I'm trying to do a fully active crossover setup with the tweeters running off a separate amp. Is there any way of keeping each set of speakers from "overlapping" each other? Basically limiting them only to certain frequencies. Like 20-80hz for subs, 80-200hz for midbass, 200-~2000hz for mids, and then ~2000hz or up for tweets? I've always been curious about this.
  18. That's where I found them for the cheapest. They have the Colossus for $500. Cheaper than buying two of the brz1700.1d.
  19. That's my main concern. I'd sure as hell hate to think I'm getting 3200w and find out I'm actually getting like, 2800w or something. I'm trying not to go too far past the $2000 mark on speakers and amps. So... Part-Express, here I come.
  20. Are they good for a nice beginner big build? As far as amps I've seen used on here, they seem like the most bang for your buck as far as power vs wattage. I want to run 4 800w rms subs, and I'd like to simplify it down to one amp instead of having to gain match and all that great stuff. The Colossus actually has enough power to run them, and it doesn't break the bank too bad. Any input? I'm just trying to get a good idea on what I'm looking at for a rebuild.
  21. What would happen if I faced two boxes like this towards each other? Somewhat of a band pass? Now I'm curious. There would be atleast 20" between them, if not more.
  22. I'm gonna slowly buy the equipment over the next year or so. SLOWLY. I wanna get my doors and dash done first since I want a color change and I only really need to worry about the front half of my interior with a wall.
  23. After messing around with skecthup, I felt like a total noob for saying that. All I basically know is the box ratio and what he tuning range for the ported side is. Don't get me wrong, 4 15s will fit on a baffle that's 32x40" if you offset them, but they'd only be getting 1.5cuft a piece on the sealed side and the ported side would only be 15cuft still. That's about as far as I got with attempting to design. Here is what the two sealed sides would look like on the design I was going for. 1" wood (probably birch ply), 10x40x32" Yep. Wall is what I'm going for. I'm working on my designing skills, but I haven't gotten too far into it yet. That's why I would honestly love to try a 4th order, but I'd probably need help designing and building. LOTS. Has anyone had any experience with the GCon subs? I've seen vids of ZCons before, just not the GCons.
