  1. You bought a very very nice amp and dont even know the specs of it?? http://www.dcsoundlab.com/5k.html scroll down. the website lists them . . . they even give you a recomendation of what you should run!!! common man I haven't bought it yet. I know they give recommendations, but my mindset no matter what is research research research! I could easily look at the specs and everything on the site and assume that's that but I'm just not that comfortable. thought you bought it lol. as love as you got hte electrical to support it itll put that power out like it says. . .(i know the thread is about what you need anyways lol) like i said thought you bought it and didnt know haha

  3. not clean power. decided to go with DC audio
  4. im running at 2ohms so most i should be getting clean is about 600rms. and skar are known to be underrated as well. .. not sayin ur wrong jbut just notin the fact. yea, just test to see if the HU clips at +15, if it doesnt, just use it like that. the model i have that clips at +1 sub volume is KDC X595. ill check it all tomorrow
  5. no no i know that lol. i quoted someone from earlier. who said i am overpowering my sub and that could be why. i said no because ray clamped clean at 1100 at 1 ohm. im running at 2 ohms. meaning the sub is only prob getting 600rms clean. . .the amp is rater 1500 1 ohm and 900 2 ohms so if its clean 1100 at 1 i assumed somewhere arnoudn 600ish clean at 2 ohms..... ruling out that its prob not overpowering issues......
  6. gotcha, . . . . so on another note for a second. how can ou get you ipod to play all songs at same volume, theres a fthing that doe that right? that way you can set with say -10 db and should be fine on everything, instead of just some, yeah?
  7. mario what did you mean by set ur amp at -5? and specs are in first post. Kenwood KDC - 352U
  8. im running at 2ohms so most i should be getting clean is about 600rms. and skar are known to be underrated as well. .. not sayin ur wrong jbut just notin the fact.
  9. being a kenwood owner, even though im gonna test this tomorrow, should i turn sub to 15 and then dd1 the HU? as kranny somewhat said earlier...
  10. i know that yes. i set the gain then listened. and restarted with diff settings. . . it seems a hair louder, and i went past 30 and i didnt hear the distortion like i was saying earlier. tomrrow im going to try and investigate some more. i have work earlier so bed for me. i have a db meter. its not accurate, but as far as playing a freq at diff volumes itll tell me whats louder and whatnot so ill break that out. heres what im going to try.hu vol 35 sub +1 hu vol 30 sub +11 hu vol (?) sub +15 <- not sure what loudest clean is but ignoring mids and highs just gonna see if it yields louder. might even do another with sub at 5 or 7. also, is it bad to turn the eq down? like bass -5 or something?? then i can boost the sub volume, or does it not work pretty like that?
  11. IDK i havent set amp gains yet. ill go set gains sub and +1 and volume 35. listen with a track. and then change sub volume to 11 and deck to 30, set gains. same song. and give er a listen. be back in 15min. gotta go find parking lot lol. . . . ill also play the 40hz tone i use to setthe gain. that way its perfect signal
  12. at volume 30. sub volume goes to 11 clean. 13 distort. . .
  13. in my car. eq all at 0 and i can turn it up all the way with no dis. but. whe i turn my sub volume up, i can only go to +1 (goes +1 +3 and so one skips 2.) so +3 at 35 volume it distorts its not bass boost. and all full volume its clean to +1. +3 is distortion. . . so should i turn down volume, and boost sub volume?
  14. my sub. mids and highs sound shitty, but you can cleary hear the sub difference, and it loses loudness as well
  15. bottoming out maybe? idk the exact term but you can hear uglyness lol
  16. i meant when i dont. when i do use it and i leave a little room for clipping, the second i turn it up, you can hear it distort
  17. Current Setup 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee HU Kenwood KDC - 352U Concept HPN - 1500 Skar VVX 15 D4 Custom Box Tuned to ~32Hz Cadence 4 Gauge Power and Ground Wire Stock speakers, big 3 is NOT done Problem It seems that when i use the DD1 properly (To my knowledge) It hurts the SPL in my car. When i tune everything by ear, give or take, it seems to get louder. Plain and simple. HU settings for DD1 Bass - 0 Mid - 0 Treble - 0 Sub Volume - 0 (goes -15 to +15 so 0 is the middle) HPF 150hz, (only effects door speakers) LPF set to trough because i just use the one on my mono amp After trial and error, i turned my EQ to Bass -8 Mid - -8 Treble +1 By doing so, i turned my Sub volume up to +7 to make up for the loss in bass (still volume 35 undistorted) Steps i did for the DD1 Plugged RCAs into it from the HU (sub out) Played 40Hz at 0db provided by SMD online via Ipod USB, also did with the CD on same HU settings and with both, achieved full volume of 35 with no distortion. I Proceeded and did the amp as i'm supposed to (not listen it lol its strait from directions. I used track 5, the middle db of 3 and 7 No matter what i seem to do some songs still clip and my sub bottoms (i think thats the term i want) this is pro due to what the song was recorded at as i know its clean. . . So my problem is that after all this, if i go through and tune everything by ear, still used 35 and max volume, i seems to get it louder and not distort as much as when i use the DD1 i think i described everything well enough, sorry if i repeated or over did it but looking for any explanations, ideas, input. thanks guys
  18. Level 4 18 D2 to 03106, and Level 3 18 D2 to 03106
  19. well if i get a 3sixty.3 i can split my fronts so i have 4 rcas. o into the 360, and the outs will be to tweets, 4's, 6.5's and subs. and in the program, i can control each speaker and min and max freq. . . . then i need a mono amp, a 4 channel, and 2 channel. this leaves out my back doors. so after the 360, i can split the 6.5 and tweets signals and run them to the back doors with their own 4 channel. summary lol and front and rear arent in perspective of the car, their just a name if that makes sense HU 3 rcas... front split so i have front1, front2, rear, sub 360.3 and all EQs set with that 360.3 outs will be front1 (tweets), front2 (4's), rear (6.5s), sub, (subs lol) lastly split the front1 and rear for the rear doors
  20. right but as said ealier that wouldnt be active right?meaning i kinda have to trust the crossover for the spesakers, as its set in stone
  21. I guess you could have 2 4 channels. one for the front 6.5s and 4's and the other for rear 6.5s and tweets and then a 2 channel for the front tweets. oooorrrrrr you could do 2 4 channels, and put the rear speakers (6.5s and tweets) together and seeing as any deck only has 3 rca outs. then obv i need a processor, so where would i go from my HU? p.s. sorry this thread is kinda turning into a help me with my setup lol
  22. Because I'd like a sealed and ported box. . . was thinking of doing s stealth something idk. . . and what TRT saidAnd ok active, i way over analized that lol, so the 6.5 has a channel, the 4 has one, and the tweet has one? correct. . . .and can you go into detail about the rear fill?
  23. 3 way as in a 6.5", 2.5(ish), and a tweet right? and spacing it, active setup? whats that. . . heard it, knew it, forgot it lol
  24. I'm sure this has been talked about before but i had an epiphany just now. I really want a SQ car. I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee and running about 600rms and a single 15. I'd like a loud (not spl loud) and crystal clear car for metal, rap, country, blues, jazz, techno, anything! Just a strait up SQ Jeep. Keep in mind I am only 18 and i'm not talking 5k focal shit and all that but you know, the standard works. Anyways, the only thing that isn't settling well is getting that occasional person, that says " My friends got two 12" Kickers and his slams way harder than this! " When indeed my car wouldn't be made to slam, but sound great (which a lot of people don't care about obviously) So. . .Finally, How about having a set up kind of like this? 2 sets of 6.5" Components, 60-100rms each speaker and tweeter with an external crossover 1 10 or 12" sub, sealed and 200-400rms 1 nice 4 channel and mono amp, maybe even a 5 channel 1 15 or 18" sub, ported at let's say 35Hz and aprox 1500rms and the key to it all, a switch in the remote lead for the big mono, so when you get that doubter, they'll have 1500 of some slamming bass coming very soon Big 3 will be done, a D6500 under the hood, and probably 1 D3100 in the rear THOUGHTS?? and I am a noob to a lot of things so feel free to give advice, this is an in moment thought haha
